I started playing guitar chords about 40 years ago. I started writing my own music in 2003. My wife introduced me to guitar chords. I learned to play better by myself with the help of song books and family sing-a-long parties.
What gear do you use?
I have a Yamaha classical six string guitar, my favorite, a Yamaha acoustic-electric guitar, and a midi controller keyboard.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
The guitar has always been my favorite instrument. I shopped for days playing many, many guitars in guitar stores until I found the one, within my budget, that sounded the best to me. I liked the sound of the classical Yamaha I bought. It sounded as good as the Martins I played and better than most of the others.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I like to play and sing popular songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s. I mostly play and sing songs I write now. I have performed at three weddings, at several family reunions and a host of family sing-a-longs.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Eric Clapton, because his playing is so innovative and brilliant.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
My smallest audience has been one, my wife, the love of my life, and most engaging music critic. My largest would be about 200 at one of the weddings.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
The Best of ABBA. Heard first when it first came out. I love their music just a tad more than the other 50 or so other albums I also love.
