How long have you been playing?
My uncle started me off on bass, and I kind of just went on my own with guitar a few months later. That was in 2008. I have been playing guitar for almost four years. I've recently started playing drums. I started with percussion in 5th grade, so I had a little background knowledge before I actually started on the drum kit. I also occasionally pick up the bass. I have also recently started to sing.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert I ever went to was went I went to see Chris Cornell at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee in 2009.
What gear do you use?
I have a Gibson SG, a Dean Dime-O-Flame, a Schecter 7-String, a Squier Strat, an Ibanez Gio (my first guitar), a Takamine acoustic, a Martin Stinger bass, a Dean Playmate bass, an old Yamaha keyboard, and a Hohner starter drum kit. For my amps, I have a Line 6 Spider IV head with a Marshall cab and a little Fender Rumble amp for my basses. My favorite out of all my guitars would have to be the Schecter 7-string. I love the chunkiness and the sustain you get out of it.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
The biggest musical influence out of all the bands I have listened to in my life would have to be System of a Down. They were my favorite band for years. In a way, they helped me develop my style, since I started playing guitar at around the same time I started listening to them. I memorized almost all of there songs on guitar. I learn that there were other tunings on the guitar than standard tuning (like Drop C or Drop Db, the tunings SOAD uses)
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Currently, I am in two bands. My main band, Manhattan Craze, is an alternative/instrumental band that consists of members that are very musically inclined. My second band, Welcome The Stranger, is a grindcore band that is always fun to mess around with. In both bands, I play drums, even though I'm a guitarist.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
If I could jam with anyone, it would have to be my Uncle David (the one who started me with my musical career). I say this because shortly after I started playing, he passed away. I never got the chance to do a little jam session with him before his passing.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience I've ever performed in front of was a crowd of about 1,000 people. It was at a talent show at my friend's school.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
"Iowa" from Slipknot. It's so heavy, yet so well musically put together.
