How long have you been playing?
JoAris De Jesus was born on October 11,1984 in the city of Camden, NJ. Joaris grew up in one of the hardest city with many struggles. At a young age she found herself soothing many pains using music as a getaway. Inspired by many artist such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Cover Girls ect, she brings ol’skool back in a new way. She has been singing and writing her own music since the age of 10 but became serious about her career for 1 year now. We are all anticipating her EP which comes out no later than Spring/Summer of 2012. She has recorded with Damon Jercore from the group “No Questions” which has jump started her career. She brings Latin 80’s flavor back into the music and spice it up with her unique style. Now traveling she is reaching her goals and touching the people with her humbleness and down to earth attitude. Bring hope to our community that we can all be what ever we want to be if we believe. She is quickly being recognized as one of the nations hottest upcoming artist.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
First concert I got to perform was to open for the group No Question in Philadelphia, Pa at the Calabash Banquet Hall. My family and some of my close friends were there in attendance and it was a gala of a night. Just to be able to sing for such people as Tre Mcnair and Terrence Harris that was enough to make the night memorable!!
What gear do you use?
My only gear in a cordless microphone..lol
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My biggest musical influence without a doubt would have to have been Marisela. I liked her music cause it was romantic and showed of a strong woman. I never heard of her before my mother started listening to her.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I am not in a band currently.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
If I could jam with anyone it would have to have been either Tupac or Whitney Houston. I chose Tupac because his lyrics were true to him and his listeners. I chose Whitney because its Whitney DUH!!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
My biggest audience was at the Indie Flava Magazine Party. It took place in Manhattan, NY. I would have to say it was roughly about 250 people there easily. My most memorable was the performance in Frontera in Camden, NJ. My dancers stole the show lets just say. lol
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
I wiould take Avici "sometimes I get a good feeling". This is such a good energy song and it just makes you happy and wanna dance. I first hear this in my car on the radio when I came out the studio after a rough day.
