To those it may concern, this will be my last post on Fandalism for quite awhile. I don't really know when I'll be back. Let's just say I'm making a major transition that requires all of my attention as well as a giant leap of faith. That being said, it is only apprpriate that this particular song be the one I am leaving you with. It's called "Believe" and as the title implies it is about the power of belief. Not so much in the religious sense (although that is certainly an option) but I am forever fascinated by what people have accomplished simply because they "believed" it could be done, especially when the general consensus was that it was impossible. Things like electricity or cellphones or a man on the moon were all fantasy until someone believed it could be done. What is morbidly facinating though is that the power of belief works without regard to intention. It works just as good for the bad guys as it does for the good guys, which accounts for the rise of some nefarious characters throughout history. I'm not trying to be all "preachy" here or anything but I wrote this song because I think it's important for all of us to take notice of these things as it certainly indicates, to me at least, that we are creating our own reality at every moment of the day, much of the time unintentionally. That is why there is so much need for "awareness". There is a lot of extreme division in this country right now and around the world. Most of it due to the lack of independent thinkers. And not just the ones in power. So many people are in a never ending loop of "eat-work-sleep" and never fully living their lives. The world goes on around them, but they aren't in it. They're zombies. I know because I've been there. If we don't stop to take notice of the world around us and decide "who we believe we are" in regard to it all, then we allow ourselves to live in a reality created by the beliefs of others. One that will never quite feel right. As creators of music, we all know music is pure expression, but expression is also the "active" form of believing. Belief has no power if not expressed and expression only has value when lived. And if you don't truly believe in something, it's impossible to live it even if you express it. I have really enjoyed being here on Fandalism these past few years and have made some lifelong friendships. Who would have "believed" I could create music with musicians all around the globe from the comfort of my little studio?! HA!! Well, apparently Pud did!! His belief made all this happen (major thanx Pud!). Imagine all the collabs that would never have happened if he didn't!! I am dedicating this song to all you Fandals out there who pour your heart and souls into your music and express your view of the world for all of us to share. Your music makes a difference!! Paul McCartney once wrote "The Love you take is equal to the Love you make". Certainly there's a lot of love expressed here on the Fanda waves. That is something I can believe in. Thank you all for that!! I hope to be back on Fandalism before next year but I will be popping in from time to time with comments when I can. So keep rockin' Fandals. I'll be listening. Hope you enjoy my song "Believe". Guitar and Bass - Marc Seawright Vocals, Keyboards and Drums - Kent Taylor Composed and produced by Kent Taylor (Studio 444)

Many years ago (1983) my disdain for politicians forced me to spew my disgust into a song. Since then I have done a dozen different arrangements of this song in several different genres, one of which I did with Tedd VanWagner. The version I am posting today I did entirely by myself and in comparison to the version I did with Tedd it is pretty much a different song. The lyrics however have remained unchanged, as well as my feelings about politicians. The irony of this song is that even though I wrote it 35yrs ago, if you listen to the lyrics it fits our current politicians like a glove! So please take a moment from trolling the internet and help yourself to a full dose of dissent right here!! Bon Apetit'!!

Hello everyone. Once again the holidaze are upon us, so to keep things cheery Annemiek and I have decided to re-post our Christmas song from 2016, especially since we didn't finish this project until the "eleventh hour" last year and by then I believe everybody was probably burnt out on the whole Christmas cheer thing. Originally this project had it's challenges and certainly HG Schmitz deserves a lot of credit for the fabulous job he did on the mix. Those of you who work with Hans know how meticulous he is when it comes to mixing and he used all his audio talent on this one. We also want to recognize the great lyrics written by Janice Zamb. Janice wrote these lyrics on short order when we didn't even have a vocal melody for the song yet. Amazingly the words fell into place with very little adjustment so thank you Janice for your writing skills as well as your talent for E.S.P.!! We must also acknowledge Franklin Schieman who did a great job on the sax and this was his first appearance on the Fandalism scene. He must think we are crazy. Christmas is a time for Family and friends and we consider many of you BOTH!! So we like to wish all of you an extra special Christmas during these crazy times we are all going through. If we all just keep smiling and playing music, 2018 may just be the best year yet!! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL OF US!!!! Composer - Annemiek Beex. Lyrics - Janice Zamb. Howdy Fanda friends! My good friend Kjell Johansson did me the honor of re-posting this song on one of the group pages I'm part of. Listening to it after so long I realized what a crappy mix job I did on it. Originally it was the first song CJ Berry and I had ever done together and I was thrilled to be able to collaborate with him, unfortunately every possible thing that could go wrong, at least on a technical level did! It was an uphill battle and in the end I think we were both happy that we were ever able to post it! But being the obsessive compulsive that I am, I just had to put things straight in regards to the mix. Here in America it is Thanksgiving day upon which we focus on all the things we are thankful for. I want to show my thankfulness for all the friends I've made here on Fandalism and especially for CJ who has become a valued friend as well as a highly respected musician. So here is CJ's song called "Wireless" remixed after two and a half years.Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you enjoy. CJ Berry - Guitar Keyboard Kent Taylor - Drums

Hi everyone. I'm taking a chance that Fandalism will be up for more than five minutes to allow me to post this very special song. My life long friend Marc Seawright wrote the original guitar piece to this song and I loved it immediately. I promised to write some lyrics for it but the words never came to me until now, over two years later. Ultimately it was a recent visit by my good friend and pianist Annemiek Beex and her perfectly executed piano track that set the lyrical wheels in motion and this is the final result.I wanted the lyrics to be about accepting life in spite of whatever failures we have faced and knowing that our path, no matter how treacherous, has defined who we are. Hope you all enjoy!

Greetings Fellow Fandalonians! The song I am posting here was written by Alvin Grimes. Alvin was the singer and bassist from my first "real" band in the late 70's called Tantrum. For those of you who have followed me for awhile you may remember a reunion concert I did in Detroit with this band (posted on this page). Anyway Alvin had combined two of his songs both of which I really liked into an R&B style of song which I also really liked but I just kept hearing this as a rock song in my head. In fact it haunted me! So now fast forward five years, and my guitarist from that same band (Marc Seawright) visited me and wanted to do a recording of my rock version of Alvin's tune. So as an honor to our good friend and brother from another mother - Alvin Vincent Grimes. May I present to you the song "Reaching". I hope you enjoy!Alvin Grimes - composerMarc Seawright - GuitarKent Taylor - Vocals, Drums, keyboardsAudio production - Studio 444

I was lucky enough to have Marc Seawright my first guitarist and best friend from High School visit me from Boston a few weeks ago. It's been many years since we've had the chance to create music together so we made good use of our time together in the studio. This song "Slow Motion" was one I wrote in 1984 and recorded with Marc the following year. I actually posted a different version of this song on Fandalism a few years ago with only vocal, piano and strings (http://fandalism.com/kentavious/b1Ts) but the version posted here today is pretty much exactly how we arranged it back in '85 except of course we have the advantage of a much better sound recording. Anyway, thank you everyone for taking a listen. I hope you enjoy it!

In case you haven't heard it enough already, Happy New Year!! Well 2016 was definitely a crazy year but one event that happened under the radar was Pat Clarke's visit to America. Many people who follow my page are also friends with Pat and have asked me about his monumental visit to California back in June so this video it is long overdue! First of all, it was a complete stroke of luck that Pat and fellow musician Dub Blune were able to visit me. As it turned out Dub quite literally won the trip in a Christmas raffle and the prize was two tickets to anywhere in the world plus accomodations! So I must say two things here. 1.) I am totally honored that Dub had a chance to visit "anywhere in the world" and he chose my house!! So needless to say I wanted to make sure these guys didn't regret that decision! And.. 2.) I must acknowledge what a great friend Dub was to give the other ticket to Pat!! That is a true BUD!!! Now in regard to this video, I have to admit that we all were very remiss in our duties to catch much of this trip on video. Truth be told, we were just having such a great time we would forget to turn the camera on!! In fact while they were here we actully did a small gig in a local club but the one person who has video of it never sent me any copies. So all in all, Dub didn't have much video to work with but was still able to squeeze out a pretty good video of the song we did together in my studio. Dub is an Arlo Guthrie fan and so we chose to cover "Coming into Los Angeles". Considering some of our other "common interests" this was certainly an appropriate choice! OK well I hope you enjoy a few shots of where I live including a little step into Studio 444 where I spend 99% of my time. I feel Highly honored to have these guys visit me especially considering this was a friendship that culminated from collaborating on Fandalism. Merry Christmas everyone! Not to take away any thunder from our current Christmas project (Peace on Earth) I thought I would re-post this collaboration from Christmas 2 years ago. Actually, I originally posted this 4 years ago as a solo effort, but then two years later, just a few days before Christmas I asked Annemiek Beex to play on it and she sent me not only a dynamite piano track but also a fabulous organ track as well. Since I was really going for a Gospel/blues feel to the arrangement, Annemieks parts were integral to making it an authentic sounding cut. At that point I knew I had to get my friend Ray Loftis to lay some bluesy guitar on it. Blues is where Ray feels most comfortable and he's good at finding all the "sweet spots". This particular version has a revised mix from the one 2 years ago only because I can't help tinkering with stuff. Call it O.C.D. if you will! LOL!! Have a great Holiday Fandalinos! Hi Fanda Friends You can safely assume from the title that "this isn't one of my pretty songs", heh-heh!! And yes you can also assume that it is chock full of profanity. In fact I pretty much made it a goal to put the "F-word" in every line. I did this not so much to be vulgar but to humorously overemphasize the angry message of the song. I am aware that only a certain demographic of listeners will understand the element of humor in it. (I just hope you're one of them!) This song is basically my vitriol against Politicians, Bankers, Organized Religion and Mega Corporations. It is also aimed at the "sheeple" who believe in ANY "system" that has continuously betrayed them and is blatantly corrupt. And this of course includes religious institutions. So............for all of you who may be offended by the F-word or if you are extremely patriotic or religious (God forbid) then I will severely caution you - DON'T LISTEN TO THIS SONG!!! For all the rest of you, make sure you play it loud enough to scare the shit outta the neighbors!! I also want to thank my fellow anarchists Ray Loftis and Chris Berry for their incredible ability to emulate complete psychosis through the sound of their instruments!! These guys are both genius and maniacs! Thanx for listening everyone! ...................(Now Fuck Off!! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!)

Howdy!I was looking through some old music of mine and ran across this song called "Summer Fantasy" ... that I composed back in the late 80's with my old guitarist Larry Tovar. As soon as I heard it again I had lucid memories of recording it as I had just spent my last pennies on a Tascam 388 8-track recorder, a microphone and an Alesis reverb unit. I was in hog-heaven at the time but needless to say this isn't the greatest recording by today's standards. It's more like a glance into my songwriting past for those of you who may be interested. Hope you enjoy! Here's the lyrics: Feel the wind moving jasmine heat whispering 'cross the places our bodies fail to meet like a symphony playing a rhapsody savoring every moment in this summer fantasy Golden hair dancing 'cross your moonlit face smiling with your eyes you take me to a higher place and I hope that I'm frozen in time savoring every moment of this summer fantasy Hidden by the night tasting summer sweat arms and legs entwining hot as it can get through the night two hearts pound loud like a rolling thundercloud coming from a place we've never been savoring every moment taking in all I can get living the dream of a lifetime in this summer fantasy

This is a song I wrote about a homeless guy overlooking Los Angeles and reflecting on his life. I played all the instruments with the exception of some nice Latin style guitar work by my good buddy Ray Loftis. Enjoy! Lyrics: I can taste the sun melting in the sea. I can hear the night falling down on me. I can feel the love and I can smell the fear. Lives that once stood still Change quickly here. Good night LA. Where all the lost angels play. Good night LA. Tomorrow's not another day. Good night LA.You re-define relativity. Good night LA. You got another piece of me. I think I know the month but I don't know the day.I think I know where I am but I don't know the way. I'm just floating along like a leaf on a river. Just trying to accept what life delivers. Good night LA. Where all the lost angels play. Good night LA. Tomorrow's not another day. Good night LA. You re-define relativity. Good night LA. You got another piece of me. Hi everyone! This is a project that was created by three of my favorite people here on Fandalism, Albert DeSoto, Tedd VanWagner, and Channon Reed. It is a collaboration that was started almost a year ago and has finally found it's way to completion despite life's demands for the mundane. The song is a tongue-in-cheek look at infidelity and is articulated by Albert's video prowess and Tedd's excellent audio skills. I'm always proud to be a part of anything I do with these guys! Big thanx to all of you for tuning in. Hope you enjoy!!

Howdy! Here is a little cover of a Jeff Beck tune off the Wired album. Kjell Johansson and I were invited to join in on this by CJ Berry who is on guitar and who also re-created and programmed Jan Hammers Keyboard parts. There were no midi files available for the keyboard parts so CJ actually sat down and notated it!! That's the big difference between the "real" musicians and a street drummer like me. I am always learning when I hang with these guys and now I ain't near as dumb as I used'ta was! Kjell is so "in the pocket" on this that I'm starting to wonder if he spent a portion of his life as a kangaroo!..............(and if you get that joke, you're just as mental as I am). I have forever been a Jeff Beck Fan and I couldn't think of two more talented musicians to play this song with besides maybe JB himself! (Yeah I know, keep dreamin'!) I must apologize for the video quality. For some reason when I upload these kind of videos done using multiple FX, YouTube doesn't process the upload correctly and as you will see it is very pixelated and blurred. I'm still experimenting with a solution to this problem so if any of you out there have an idea, please, I would welcome the info!! It really takes the thrill out of hours of editing. "Stop in the Name of Love (reggae version)" is one of those experimental ideas I've had that finally materialized after years of bouncing around in my imagination. Reggae isn't a strong genre for me. I should have probably sought the help of HG Schmitz since he is a master at this stuff, but I wanted to discover and learn from my own shortcomings. I am joined on this song by my good friend Ray Loftis on lead guitar who also brought fellow guitarist Chuck Rich into my studio for the first time and I put him to work on the rhythm track! LOL!! No observers here!! Hahaha!! Anyway, this is just a concept really. Hope you all like it.

With the recent loss of one of the worlds great rock icons David Bowie, CJ Berry and I put together this little cover of one of his biggest hits - "Changes" The words of this song pretty much reveal why this mans creativity shone brightly among the rest. I am the Slime (Frank Zappa cover) Howdy Kidz!! We decided to go out with a bang this year and do a Frank Zappa cover. My good friend CJ Berry had suggested this song and as a huge Zappa fan I couldn't say no especially when I was informed that Kjell Johansson and Sa-Go-Ba were involved. I've really been trying to learn more video editing techniques when I can and on this particular video I had all the crayons out of the crayon box you might say....and then some!!! I am very happy to once again to be playing some music with my good friend from the Netherlands Annemiek Beex and to top it off we are also joined by Kjell Johansson on bass. Certainly a treat for me to be jammin' with these two fine musicians on this little jazz piece which was originally an idea by Annemiek and then Kjell and I were invited to improvise our parts. So this is what we came up with. Hope you enjoy! Oh yeah, I think the name of the song is "Confused".......but I'm not sure...........I'm confused.

Infatuation is something many of us have experienced at some point in our lives, usually when we are young and naive. The experience can leave us with pleasant memories of high school sweethearts except of course for the unfortunate ones that fall for the wrong person, one who is heartless enough to take advantage of someones temporary "Love Blindness". This song was inspired by a conversation with a friend who was too infatuated to see his "true love" was blatantly using him and cheating on him. Everyone around him could see it but nobody could convince him to wake up! I wrote this song as a final attempt. On this recording I am joined once again by my good friend Ray Loftis on lead guitar and also very special guest Pat Clarke on Harmonica. Pat has been on the "missing" list lately due to the passing of his mum, so for those of you who are fans of his please take a moment to send him some love. I'm sure he could use a few kind words right now. In the meantime please enjoy our song and heed the advice within it -- "Don't be a Glutton for Punishment"!!! Cheers everyone!

This is a newer version of one of my older songs. I posted a previous version of this song about two and a half years ago. This version I did entirely myself. I played the guitar on my Yamaha MOTIF XS-8 keyboard. The string and flute sections I played on a Korg Triton keyboard. I had intended to go full bore production on it but I liked it just as it sits. It is an atypical song about unrequited love and a persons ability to be infatuated with someone who doesn't even know he exists. Hope you enjoy.

This is a re-post from 2012. I noticed this track was no longer currently available on my page, and since it was in need of a re-mix anyway I thought I'd re-post it again. This song is about my overall view on life - that we are all just products of our environment. Of course genetics also plays into things too. But there are so many factors about "who" we are and what path we take in life that are completely out of our control, no matter how much we would like to believe otherwise. I was thinking one day how I was born into a world of "neckties". I mean, what is the purpose of a necktie anyway? I dunno, I really had no say in it. I was just plopped into a world where neckties determine your status. And that's just one of the many weird things that affect our daily lives. Our reactions to this world and its different cultures and religions and politics, not to mention friends and family or even the stranger on the street all take a part in creating who we are. I wanted to write a song with this introspect and this is it. My very special guest and long-time friend Ray Loftis is playing Lead Guitar on this. Thank you again Ray for adding your excellent skills!! All the rest of the music and vocals are done by me. Everything is played (not programmed) via Korg Triton and Yamaha MOTIF XS. Drums were played on a Roland TD 20 electronic Drum kit. Hope you enjoy! I appreciate your comments!

Hello friends Undoubtedly there are some very fine musicians and songwriters here on Fandalism. It's what has kept me visiting this site almost daily for the past 3 years. But like the rest of the world these days, Fanda has become increasingly tainted with large hungry egos that don't seem to understand the phenomenon that has taken place here in this musical sanctuary. These hungry egos are only concerned with the amount of props and comments they get. They will use your Fanda page as their personal billboard by posting a link to their site in an attempt to gain some of your following, but don't even have the courtesy to leave a comment. Then there are those whose music is anywhere from "below mediocre" to "absolutely horrible" who post comments on EVERYBODY'S page EVERYDAY hoping to get a "sympathetic comment out of the sheer numbers of Fandals they visit daily. There are also those who have no standard of excellence, and will post something from a cassette tape they found in their underwear drawer from 1974 (as if anyone has time to listen to 6 minutes of garbled noise!). Talking with some of my Fanda friends lately I've heard some horror stories about Fanda members posting songs of other Fanda members and adding their embellishments without permission, but one of the MOST bizarre stories I heard about was about a musician here on Fandalism (I won't mention names) who has actually created dozens of fraudulent Fanda pages of non-existent people (none of which have any songs posted on them) so he can send dozens of fake comments and props to himself and anyone he collaborates with!!! That's one voracious ego!!! And the crazy thing is that this particular musician is actually quite good! He doesn't need to do this!!! Well anyway, Annemiek Beex and I were venting with each other about all of this and our conversation spilled over to HG as we learned he had the same observations of Fandalism lately and we decided to write a song of protest to these ego-fueled posers. It's called "The Crap Song" In honor and respect to the musicians who have created music from their hearts here on Fanda we need to make these giant egos understand we value the phenomenon of true passion and excellence over the insecurity of mediocre minds. I welcome your comments. I don't expect they will all be good. But please, don't forget to prop!!..............Heh!! Heh!! Heh!! Song Title: The Crap Song Composers: Annemiek Beex, HG Schmitz and Kent Taylor Crappy Keyboards: Annemiek Beex Crappy Programming (horns, flutes and other crap) : HG Schmitz Crappy Vocals: Kent Taylor

Howdy folx! It is always an honor to do anything with HG Schmitz involved. HG is beyond a doubt one of the best producers of music here on Fanda and I am always more than happy with the end result of anything we do together. He is also one of the most patient people I know, as he has waited a LONG time for my drum trax! Not too many musicians of his caliber would do that. (Thank you HG!) This song is called "Pantiewaists". It is the first in a series of 9 songs we are doing together based on the 70's and 80's Funk era . And I must say, HG has such a grasp of this style that it's hard to believe he doesn’t wear a Neru jacket with a Capricorn medalion! Go figure! LOL!! This music is just really fun stuff especially for us drummers! OK well, put on your platform shoes and your multi-colored fro wig. Hop in the pimp-mobile and take a "crooze" with us won't you? When I was growing up, great jazz records played non-stop at our house. One of my favorites as a kid was "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck. The title of course refers to the song being in 5/4 time. And the reason it was one of my favorites is because of the drum solo played by Joe Morello. (I was already contemplating being a drummer at 4yrs old! LOL!!) As an arranging exercise I thought it would be fun to see if I could re-arrange it in 4/4 time. Hence my re-naming of the title to "This Time Only Four". I did a Joe Morello style drum solo in it but the highlight of this recording was that I was lucky enough to get Michael Stark to do a fabulous acoustic lead on it. Mike really shreds!! If you like amazing improvisational jazz guitar then DEFINITELY check out his page! Here's a link: http://fandalism.com/scofield Anyway, here is the result of our re-arranging exercise. Hope you enjoy! Original music by Dave Brubeck Re- arrangement and Audio production by Kent Taylor Lead guitar Michael Stark Drums and Keyboards by Kent Taylor

Howdy Fandalinos! I think you are going to enjoy this little cover tune by King Crimson called "Elephant Talk". Of course the only person on Fandalism that could even come close to doing justice to this song is none other than Tedd VanWagner who shares my love of this band. I heard this tune once in the early 80's and was instantly addicted to it. I've always wanted to play it and so I gave Tedd the request and it was answered with an astounding "HELL YEAH"!!! So please kick-back and enjoy another one of our romps through "King Crimsonville" and thank you all so very much for joining in on the fun!!

HG skyped me the other day about a drum track I had done on one of his songs that we had both kind of forgotten about. The song is called "Bear the Brunt" and let me tell you, some of HG's best guitar work is on this track in my opinion. This is one driving rock song!!! You'll also see as a drummer you don't get any rest playing this tune either!! LOL!! It's been awhile since HG and I have posted anything together. I totally blame myself for that. I have an obstacle course life that really fights for all of my time and HG's music really demands attention to detail. He never sends me one of those songs that you're gonna knock out in an hour or two. I started video recording most of my collaborations whether they were used or not, about a year ago and this is the one that HG re-discovered. I've added some eye candy to make the visuals a little more interesting since it's only me on screen. I keep begging HG to send me some video of HIM but................I say we start a "Get HG out of his shell" campaign!! LOL!! Enjoy everyone!!

Someone close to me has recently been diagnosed with schizophrenia. After reading about this mental disorder I realized how horrible it must be to live in a world where you can't trust your own reality. One where fluctuating distrust and paranoia are the norm. Schizophrenics are often mistakenly associated with being violent maniacs but that is generally untrue. Violent maniacs are called "psychopaths" (and if you want some of those, just drive any freeway through Los Angeles!!). More than likely you've come in contact with schizophrenics without even knowing it. They make up 1% of the population and many of them go undiagnosed or do not seek treatment. Very often they are able to hide their symptoms (at least for a little while) and are able to live and work amongst us undetected. I wrote this song in an attempt to give a first hand view of what it must be like inside the mind of the schizophrenic. For a song of such "dark subject matter" the obvious choice to accompany me was the "king of dark" -- Mr. Tedd VanWagner. Tedd is so talented he is pretty much my "go-to guy" for anything, even the happy stuff! But he has a particular knack of zeroing in on on a song such as this and exposing the hidden emotion within it and he has done a perfect job of that here. I am also joined by Ray Loftis on lead and rhythm guitars. Ray and I have been friends since high school and is another one who is incredibly adept at lasering in on the heart of the song. I couldn't imagine anyone else to do the lead guitar for this piece. The musical arrangement was deliberately put together in a "schizophrenic fashion" in as much as it is very "up and down" in it's intensity, so be careful of your volume levels (no louder than 11 LOL!!). Thank you all very much in advance for tuning in!!

I wrote this song quite a few years ago. It was inspired by a waitress at a 50's diner I used to frequent. She was a very sweet and innocent looking "girl next door" type and as we became friends I would joke with her that at night she would transform into her alter ego "Wicked Wanda" a vampire-like party animal. With that fantasy in mind I composed this little rocker. I am joined once again by one of my oldest and dearest friends Ray Loftis as well as another old friend who I've just recently regained contact with after many years, Kevin Craig. Both live here locally in SoCal so it was nice to actually have the luxury of live musicians in my studio (what a concept!). These guys know how to have fun with a song and I think you'll hear it in their performance as this is surely a song to have fun with. So please enjoy our fantasy rock song Wicked Wanda. Song Title - Wicked Wanda Music and Lyrics - Kent Taylor Lead guitar - Ray Loftis Power guitars - Kevin Craig Vocals and Drums - Kent Taylor Keyboard bass and audio production - Kent Taylor Lyrics -- Let me tell you a little story about a girl in the neighborhood She works down at Rickey's diner and she sure looks good She greets everyone with an innocent smile You can almost see her halo and if you ever meet her I think there's something that you should know 'Cause at night her fangs come out She want's to rock'n'roll She wants to scream and shout Yes at night she lets her hair down In tight black leather she paints the town She wears fishnet stockings with the line up the back Stiletto heels that give you a heart attack Yes at night she's a different girl That's when they call her Wicked Wanda She's a sleeper You better stand clear She'll steal your heart for a souvenir She likes whips She likes chains She likes drinking pink champagne Helpless eyes Pristine smile Don't be fooled that girl is wild A devil by night Angel by day When the sun goes down get out of her way 'Cause at night she's totally insane She's got Kool-aid in her veins Yes at night she's a different girl That's when they call her Wicked Wanda

I used to practice my drums to sequences on my keyboard. I would just create a 4 or 8 bar loop and let it go. It was less boring than practicing to a metronome, but eventually the loops got too repetitious for me so I started putting several sequences together to make it more interesting. Well sometimes these would turn out to actually "be" something. I don't know "what" exactly (lol) but I thought I might share it with you and let you be the judge. This one is entitled "The Noize In My Head". I recorded this back when I first got a computer and ProTools about 9 years ago, so I was still a novice to digital recording. But this one didn't turn out half bad even if by accident!! LOL!! Anyway, thanx for listening everyone!

There are a lot of talented people here on Fandalism but there are some who transcend beyond their particular talent and reveal a unique personality that makes their performances shine even brighter. I believe Pat Clarke to be one of those people. Once you meet Pat he is someone you will not soon forget! He’s one very funny gregarious guy that seems to know everyone wherever he goes. I was so lucky to be able to meet with him in person during my visit to Manchester and actually do this little impromptu gig at the Chorlton Folk Club in Chorlton (just outside Manchester) with his best mate and guitarist Dub Blune. If you follow my page you may have seen the other songs I posted from this performance. This song is the encore. Literally put together on the fly, totally ad-lib as you will see. This is certainly not the pinnacle of our music ability but none the less a magically fun moment. This is a parody of the song "You give me Fever" written by Otis Blackwell that has been changed to "You give me Beaver". The obvious vulgar sexual double entendre ARE intended (sorry mom) so if you lack a sense of humor regarding adult subject matter you may wanna just move on. But for those of you that aren't prudes (or members of ISIS)........ I hope this puts a smile on your face!

First of all I'm not religious but I love a good Gospel Blues. Does that make me weird? I dunno, but in the spirit of the Holiday (which I DO believe in) I asked my good friends Annemiek Beex and Ray Loftis to join me on a very last minute Christmas eve post. This was very quickly put together over the past couple of days but I think these two very talented people pulled it off as if we'd rehearsed for a week!! So please accept a warm wish of the season to all of you from Annemiek, Ray and myself. Hope Santa treats you all good this year!!! Enjoy everyone!!

I have once again joined forces with my good friend from the Netherlands Annemiek Beex. I love Annemiek!! She is so talented and funny and when she asked me to join her on this I was more than happy to oblige. This song is called Winter Blues and although I have lived in Southern California for quite some time now, I still remember what it was like to deal with the cold and snow for months and waiting anxiously for that first day of sunshine. So for all of you out there dealing with the winter blues, here's a little number by my favorite Dutch pianist to cheer you up! Enjoy! If you follow my page you are probably aware of my recent visit to Europe. While I was there I was invited to visit with one of my favorite Fandals -- Annemiek Beex in Breda Netherlands. I was aware that the Dutch are a very hospitable people but Annemiek was a more than gracious host and quite the conversationalist especially considering English is a second language for her. We were joined that evening by her best friends and bandmates Jan Van Geldering and Karel Willemen (both astounding musicians). Annemiek also gave me a little tour of Breda which to me seemed like a fairytale existence. Lot's of little sidewalk cafes and smiling faces! I fell in love with the place!! I wanted to find a way to thank Annemiek for her kindness and generosity, and as it turned out, only a couple of days after my return to the States she posted an untitled piano piece and invited anyone to put vocals on it. Well I pounced on that opportunity! (sorry Jerome! Beat you to it bro!! LOL!!) And I decided to make the song about my visit with Annemiek. Of course in my usual manner I got so totally carried away by her music that I also added some additional strings and a choir. Then I talked her into getting Karel to put some bass on it (Tremendous job Karel!!!) and of course I couldn't have bass without drums so I added drums too. That is when I was hoping Jan would do the guitar on this (because he was there with us that night) but he's a very busy guy and was unable to make it to Annemieks to record his track, so I called my good friend Ray Loftis to come over and add his magic to this beautiful music Annemiek wrote. Well, let's just say he came through with flying colors!! So please, all of you, enjoy our collaboration called "You've got a Friend in Me". It's strait from the heart! Howdy Folks! Here is another song from my monumental meeting with fabulous Fanda friend Pat Clarke performing also with Dub Blune on guitar and Mark Greer on slide guitar at the now famous Chorlton Folk Club. Again, this is a very impromptu performance. Completely "un-plugged" as they say, so please excuse the quality of the sound which is strait from the camera mic (which is actually not bad as camera mics go). The song we are performing is "I fought the law" and is the third song of our four song performance from that evening. I will be posting soon the fourth song which was an "encore" performance (in some respect) as you will hear it being requested at the end of this video. I can't say enough about what a fun night this was. The best part about posting these videos is re-living the moment! Please enjoy this little piece of our performance. Thanx for watching!

Howdy everyone! Hope you are all enjoying a nice weekend. This is a video of the second song from our gig at the Chorlton Folk Club. Of the four songs we did that night I would say this is my favorite! Big thanx to Mark Greer and Dub Blune for laying down a very authentic Mississippi gospel blues flavor. If you close your eyes and listen, there's no way you would think this is a bunch of Brittish lads!! And of course Pat is in true form and amazing me with what he can do with that little harmonica!! Once again, this was all on the fly so there are some little mistakes but I think the energy really shined on this one!! Hope you have half as much fun watching this as we did playing it. Howdy Fanda friends! As many of you may have heard I recently took a vacation to visit my family in Manchester England and while I was there I made it a point to meet the gregarious Pat Clarke and his best mate Dub Bloon. This video is the first of four that I will be posting of a very impromtu gig I did with Pat and Dub and an extraordinary slide guitarist named Mark Greer. This is VERY RAW folks!! We had a quick rehearsal before the gig and on we went. I met Mark Greer only moments before we went on (He didn't have the luxury of our 30 minute rehearsal!). This was all recorded with the camera microphone so it's not exactly "high fidelity" but I think you might get a taste of all the fun we were having!!! And I gotta hand it to the Lads for such a fine job especially since we were totally "wingin' it". I must also give Major Props to Chorlton Folk Club for allowing us the opportunity to play for everyone. It is a memory not soon forgotten! As for Pat, I've been a follower of Mr. Pat Clarke for a couple of years now as well as collaborating with him on several of his projects and he has also contributed his talent to several of mine. Not only is he a great harmonica player but in my view a very talented songwriter/wordsmith. Pat was in person exactly as I had imagined him to be. A very funny, inteligent and creative person of which I immediately felt like we were very old and dear friends. We had some great conversations and certainly shared some jokes!!! Pat is the consumate entertainer!! Him and Dub are the kinda people I have gravitated to my whole life so I felt right at home. I'll have lots of video to post of our meeting and coming soon I will also be posting some video of my visit with another Fanda favorite -- brilliant pianist (fabulous cook) and friend Annemiek Beex in the Netherlands!!! You won't want to miss it!! Anyway, for the time being, please enjoy our gig at the Chorlton Folk Club (act one)

I have the great honor to have been joined by Annemiek Beex on organ, Pat Clarke on Harmonica, and my friend since high school Ray Loftis on guitar. It is with particular pleasure that Ray was able to play this track after recovering from a tragic accident which almost ended in the amputation of his right arm. I am so glad to be a part of this dark and creepy video that exemplifies the VanWierdness of Tedd VanWagner. This time we are joined by John Wegner (Melbourne Australia) on Vocal and Fred White (Seattle Washington) on keyboards. The title of this song is "Intruder" and originally composed/performed by Peter Gabriel. Tedd is pretty talented at everything he does but he has a particular talent when it comes to all things dark and strange. He creates a mood that feels like a scary movie. So much fun!!!! Heh!! Heh!!! Turn the lights down low and crank the volume up. I think you may develop an urge to lock all your doors after this one!!

Hi everyone! Once again I am honored to work with the dynamic duo of Channon Reed and Albert DeSoto. Two great songwriters with an enlarged sense of humor and aparently a whole lot of patience as they have dealt with many delays in this production and have gracefully dealt with my time constraints. We are also joined by the ever-so-Fanda-famous HG Schmitz who programmed the horns, as well as Andy Gay who sang harmonies. This song went through a myriad of changes but I think that it was well worth the effort. So please kick back and experience our little music video entitled "Hit'n'Run". Hope you enjoy!

Howdy folx! Well, hold onto your hats and join us for another of Kent and Tedd's Excellent adventures! This is a song called "Writing on the Wall" by Adrian Belew of King Crimson fame. Tedd has an uncanny way of finding cool music to play and he certainly didn't miss the mark with this one! From the moment I heard this song it was stuck in my head. Tedd of course put his signature VanWierdness to work and created another mesmerizing video for this one. It was my first attempt at a three camers shot which is a little crazy when you are running three cameras, recording and playing all at the same time by yourself. After that much juggling I'm shooting for the Cirque du Sole' gig!!! Also I want to apologize for those of you who were so kind as to leave a comment on my page and never received a response back from me. My on-line computer has contracted some kind of virus that prevents me from accessing streaming audio or video on the net. My problem still isn't fixed yet and I have arranged to be on line just for one day to do this posting with Tedd. Hopefully I will be back in action soon. I know I have a lot of catching up to do with all my favorite Fandals and the great music I've been missing out on. Anyway, for the time being, please enjoy our little project. And Tedd, thanx once again for inviting me on another exhilarating thrill-ride!! Cheers everyone!!

This is one of my early recordings from 1988. In fact it was the first song I recorded in "my own" home studio. I actually posted this with Pat Clarke in mind. Considering the conversations we've had just lately I though he might find this amusing! And this is another song I did with Larry Tovar on Guitar AND also Bass this time. The recording is not the greatest but not too bad considering the technology I had available at the time. In this song I play the role of "GREED". Something that is more pertinent today than in 1988! It's kind of "tongue in cheek" Anyway this is from my "Rocker" days!!!! Enjoy!!

A funny thing happened. I drive a van that I bought in back in 2000. Yesterday I happened to accidentally hit the eject button on the cassette player (that I never use) and out pops a a cassette that has been sitting in there for 14 years!! Well out of curiosity I popped it back in and hit play. I was blown away at the quality of the recording after 14 years sitting in a hot van. But the amazing thing is that it contained some recordings I did 26 years ago! (So that means this cassette is actually 26!!!!) This song is one I totally forgot that I even wrote, but even better is that it was with my old guitarist Larry Tovar. Larry was probably the best guitar player I ever had a chance to perform with but after about ten years playing together we just went our separate ways never to see each other since. I always wonder sometimes what he's doing with his great talent. The recording I found was just the acoustic guitar trax. It sounded so good and he did such an excellent job of playing it I thought it deserved to have a vocal put on it. So now after 26 years in hibernation I give to you a simple love song that is finally free to be heard. Hope you enjoy! And if anyone out there knows the whereabouts of Larry, let me know. It's been long enough.

Song by Gary Pennington Featuring Adrian Olmos on saxophone Arrangement, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals by Kent Taylor This is a song by my cousin Gaz in Manchester. He sent this song to me back in 2009 to show me what he was up to at the time and I simply fell in love with the song and asked if I could do my own arrangement of it. His original version of this song was already perfect in my view but it also inspired me and I kept hearing all these alternative arrangements and well, you know how it goes! (I always ask people if the voices in my head bother them!! LOL!!!) Anyway I want to give a special thanx to Adrian Olmos for the terrific job he did on sax. Adrian is one of the local Orange County jammers and is always gigging. I am very thankful that he found the time to come into the studio and help me with this. OK well, enjoy everyone!

I pulled this Great Michael Stark groove from Fanda and added drums and strings. Not the best recording but I think Mike is one of the best Jazz Fusion guitarist out there! Certainly the best this drummer has had the opportunity to jam with. Fusion ain't for everybody. Definitely an acquired taste! But if you have an ear for the avante guard then I just know you'll like Michael Stark! Enjoy everyone!!

"Greetings Fellow Fanda Freaks, this is a little project that Tedd Vanwagner, Kent Taylor, Al Desoto... read more, Andy Gay and Channon Reed put together in a fortnight or three. This current version is done as a more traditional arrangement and is now undergoing seriously disconcerting revisions in composition and arrangement a la Tedd. The new version will contain a major dose of Vanwierdness and will be accompanied an equally disturbing video. So sit back, relax. Pop a top. Light up. And join us in our virtual sandbox."

This is my second collaboration with the now famous HG Schmitz. I am very proud of this one in particular. It took a lot of practice to get it to the quality that this song deserves. This is the kind of music that had me originally contact HG in hopes of collaborating. He is one funky mofo for a white dude in Germany! Hope you all enjoy!!

This goes out to HG and Hilde. I was supposed to be working on HG's trax last night but I got inspired to do this song in their honor. It's a little tune I wrote............by the Beatles.

MUMS BURFDAY This is a song I wrote for my "moms" 80th Birthday today.(Aug. 10th 2013) She is English and I spent some time off and on in England from childhood. My family in Manchester are a bunch of nut-cases and believe me, they wear that label proudly! So, as inappropriate as it may seem for an 80 year old's Birthday, I know they'll get a giggle!! I wrote, recorded, videoed, mixed and edited this in two days. Roughly twelve hours. Why do always wait till the last minute on Birthdays?!!!!

Chameleon with Michael Stark and Kent Taylor It's always a pleasure to play a song with Micheal Stark especially one of my favorite Herbie Hancock songs. This is one of my first music vids in a long time. Hope you enjoy.

I wrote this song specifically for someone very dear to me who seemingly had a great marriage only to find her husband had been cheating. The news hit me emotionally as I know first hand that kind of hurt and so the words and music just started flowing through me like a river. In fact I wrote and recorded the whole song in about 8 hours. One of my favorite Shakespeare quotes is -- "Our actions dictate the lives we lead". That being said, this song is about the consequences of betrayal. Very special thanx to Paul McIntyre for legitimizing my keyboard string trax with his beautiful violin embellishments.
