I'm 60 years old and began playing piano and guitar when I was 8.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
My first concert was in 1965. I saw the Ventures in Tainan, Taiwan. I went with Debbie Cole. What was memorable was that the concert was in the NCO club and we sat at the first table by the stage. I still have the guitar pick that was given to me by Bob Bogle.
What gear do you use?
I play a 1969 Stratocaster, a 1983 Les Paul Custom, a Dean Boca electric 12 string, a Fender Stratocoustic acoustic-electric and a Roland XP10 synthesizer. My favorite is my 1969 Stratocaster that I have modified with Hotrail pickups at the neck and bridge.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My biggest influence was my mom. She was a concert classical pianist, but also played boogie, swing and show tunes. As far as bands, I can't pick out specifics. I enjoy too many different styles of music.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I am in a duo with my friend, Dennis Kizanis. We play whatever style the song calls for. We met at Hughes Aircraft where we both worked. Dennis plays shows in Seattle, Wa. I live in Las Vegas, Nv.
Everybody- be sure to check out Dennis Kizanis here on Fandalism. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I would like to jam with Roy Orbison. In my opinion there was no better singer or person in the world.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
In 1966 my band in Tainan, Taiwan played at a Taiwanese battle of the bands for orphans in front of 30,000 people. We won the battle of the bands. The smallest I ever played for was at the Moose club in Lima, Ohio. There were only 50 or so people there.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
I would pick Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon". I first heard them perform it right when the album was released at a promo comcert in London. I can never get tired of this album. I glean more from the music every time I hear it...
