"Fairy Dust" by Mark Taylor and Mel Donovan Hello our Fando friends and visitors! Today I am honored to post another collaboration with Mark Taylor on a composition he posted with just his guitar using his now, semi-famous, spider capo! The tune moved me from the very first time I heard it and I sent a request to Mark, asking if it was alright to try and add some vocals to his guitar play. Thankfully, he replied in the affirmative and here are the results. I put together the video, using the best photos I could find to match the story line of the song and I apologize to you history buffs out there for the mix and match of time eras and army colors. I do not mean to offend anyone, but there was not a lot to choose from. We hope you will enjoy your listen and please feel free to comment and share.

"Evolver" by Mel Donovan with The Beatles Haha!! Thought that might get your attention, but basically most of the lyrics for this tune come straight from the REVOLVER album, so in a sense it is true! Lol I would like to dedicte this tune to my favorite hippy sisters; Hilde and Janice!! Your comments are like rainbows, multi-colored and always positive in a meaningful way and I thank you from me and on behalf ot the other artists here that you grace with your words! ;-)) I also would like to include Bob for his inspiration and his behind the scenes support! Love your music no matter what name you go by my friend. So the name for the tune was inspired by the vibe from the backwards guitar track that led me to the subject for the lyrics. Actually, it was the sound of the first chord that led to the backwards guitar track and made me think of gurus and zen and the Beatles going to India...etc...etc...etc... I'll stop now, it's time to post!! Thanks for listening my friends, I very much appreciate it!!

Sweet Whispers (Never Give Up) by HG Schmitz and Mel Donovan HG, thank you for inviting me to sing... read more this tune!! Even now I get chills hearing how your recording brought out the best in my vocal abilities. I am re-posting this as I explained yesterday and after reading all the comments have decided that from this point forward to let these program glitches go and "it is what it is" about covers it. Thanks everyone for your thoughts on the subject and your kind words and comments, but most of all........THANKS for listening!!

Sweet Whispers1 message It came to my attention that the number of plays on this tune have gone way beyond wrong. The only way to correct it is to delete the song, one of my favorites and then repost it Friday.

"Savings For A Rainy Day" by HG Schmitz and Hilde Svendsrud with Mel Donovan. Well time is sure flying by and it has been over two years ago now that HG contacted me in regards to doing some work with "The Circus", one of the very earliest tunes I posted on Fando. He had to take the time to teach me how to send him the files, that is how little I knew at the time. Through his kindness and patience he taught me the ropes of this collaboration stuff and from that point on we did many common projects as you can see from our Fando pages. It has been a while since the last one and I was very pleased to be asked to join in with him and Hilde on our post for today! Not only did I get the chance to sing on one of HG's great compositions, but I had the extra special pleasure of singing with Hilde!!! It is really an honor to work on a tune that is sure to be produced at the highest quality possible and to be part of one of Hilde's videos!! Thank you HG for your friendship and help over time and HILDE!!!! We are finally singing together for real!!! Lol lallallalallalallalalla We certainly hope everyone enjoys their listen and THANK YOU all for your support and kind words!!

"Going Down" by Franck Szypura and Mel Donovan Many of you know that Franck posted a a jam in open D he did "For Fun" at this link;http://fandalism.com/skylismo/dHUW last Sunday. As soon as I heard it, I felt a desire to play along with what he had done and so asked him if I could do so.Thankfully, he replied in the affirmative and I copied his play directly to my recorder. In the spirit of his original posting, I just jamed along with his track as it was, much like I did with Stig's in The Experiment. Due to the fact Franck was playing freestyle with no click track, it was very tricky to match his play and my tracks are a little sloppy, but this gives it a very live jam feeling in my opinion. I could have sliced and diced his track and made a more formal recording, but that would not match his original intent. My apologies to the drummers out there for what you will hear, if you listen, but on the other hand, you will find that your jobs are not in jeopardy because of me!! Lol My thanks to Franck for being open minded to my suggestion and the pleasure I had playing with him. THANK YOU ALL for listening. The video is from photos off the net. Please enjoy!!

In My Room covered by Doc, Mauricio. & Mel While Doc has been mending from his surgery Mauricio, Sam and I have been working on some tunes for Doc to sing to, since he has limited playing ability. =M= asked in one of his comments if I would like to do something together and I thought of this Beach Boys tune because of the harmonies of course!! lol We asked Doc if he wanted to sing too and the answer is what I have posted here today. I put together a slide show for the video and now we would like to wish Doc a great time performing with the V5, as they have already hit the road!!! I recorded the instruments for this rendition and then the 3 of us went to it on the vocals. Mauricio got the hardest parts-the high harmonies, but came through with flying colors. Doc handled the low ends and I contributed the middle. We hope you enjoy your listen. Thanks for taking the time to listen!! Cheers!

Hello to all visitors near and far. I want to dedicate this song to my co-workers and friends at Pathmark, for truly we all share in the downfall of the company that I have worked in since 1969. Even though we all saw this coming for quite some time, it is still not easy to deal with in reality. We have all witnessed the demise of many companies over the years and the shrinking of the middle class is just now becoming all too real for us. It has been a real pleasure working with and becoming friends with so many folks over the years and you are all good people and a true value to any employer. I pray for the best of outcomes for each and all of us, even though that isn't any part of the company's agenda. I wrote and recorded this song this week while on vacation and post it today, Friday, while I am still off. Best wishes to all my Pathmark friends and thanks to all for listening. "Morning Dew" by Mel Donovan with Marc Roberge and Mark Taylor Good day my Fando friends and v... read moreisitors! I know it's Monday, but I'm running behind schedule these days and have off from work today, so here is an instrumental tune I had the pleasure once again of being joined by the two M's...Marc and Mark. On this tune Marc added both drums and bass and Mark added a melody guitar track. I appreciate the thought and effort these two gentlemen put into their creative efforts and the results are always a welcomed sound to my ears. I was able to get some nice video clips from YT for the visual part of the post and as usual this is just for pleasure, not for profit. We hope you enjoy our tune here and we thank you very much for listening and you support!! Keep cool and have fun!!

"Jam For The Insane" by Simon Paul England with Mel Donovan http://fandalism.com/simonpaulengland1964i... Sunday came and went, but here is a Monday offering that has taken it's good old time getting here, so I guess it is only fitting. The first time I heard Simon's post of this jam I was moved by it and asked him if I could play with it some and see what happens. Thankfully he agreed and sent me the pre-mixed tracks of his two bass parts and the percussion. This was back in Oct. 2013 and I was relatively new to Fando. I added some play and some vocals to this and when I sent it back to Simon, I had unwittingly changed the name of the song on the files and on top of that my sing was pretty awful!! So, Si got a little upset about both and quite understandably so and the song went to the back burner. A short time later, Simon lost a bunch of files and these tracks were included. I still had the original mix he had sent me and the tracks I recorded saved on my laptop, so now almost 2 years later, I recently reviewed them and was moved once again to try and add some instruments to his play. Simon, I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed playing with you. I thank you whole hearted for trusting in me to do a respectable play. To our friends I hope you enjoy your listen. I just decided to add the video this morning and based on the title of the song, it was a no-brainer as to what could work with the tune.

"Lost" by Mel Donovan with Ken Sutton Sunday again already and this week I would like to share another original tune Ken and I recorded together on his Fostex8TRK digital recorder. The date on the file says Feb, 2006 which is hard to believe, but time is flying for sure! In this song we display our displeasure with the way our political system only favors the rich and just too bad for the rest of us. I wrote the lyrics and composition and Ken did a lot of guitar play along with the drum program and backing vocals. Today is the fifth of July and yestereday our nation celebrated the 4th, Independence Day! So although I picked this song to post on a whim, it's relevance seems pretty obvious. Unfortunately, not a whole lot has changed in the 9 years that have passed since we recorded this. Ken passed away this past May, but his spirit lives on in the music we captured in the time we shared before his leaving. Please enjoy your listen and THANK YOU for taking the time to do so. "Lost" lyrics by Mel Donovan Jan. 2006 I don't know why we've gone this way I think that we have been led astray 8 years of war and fear Some say they even think the end is near Please tell me the end of this is near Now we're led by corporate greed Shipping jobs across the seas Who will buy their products when There's no one left who has a dime to spend they're erroding the nation's foundation Oh when oh when will this end We want our country back again So don't forget you work for us Not them! Now special interests take the lead They let the American people bleed They brought this nation to it's knees And got a big fat bonus Yes indeed Someone defends us, won't you please Oh when, oh when, will this end We want our country back again So don't forget you work for us Not THEM You work for us-----NOT them crowd noise No more lies You work for us Stop all war Special thanks to Carolyn for helping with the crowd noise Intro features Rachel Maddow and Walter Cronkite (c) 2012

"Letting Go" by Mel Donovan with Marc Roberge and Brice Cross Hello once again friends and visitors. Today I am happy to share yet another original tune with the combined creative spirits of Brice on guitar and Marc on drums to my guitar and vocals. This tune also was born from a chord pattern and sound that caught my ear, and grew as I heard where to go next after playing with it for a couple of weeks. As you all know, Brice has a great ear for what fills a song needs and does another great play here. Marc has been kind enough to help me out with many different instruments and vocals, that we could almost be in a band together. To both of these guys I repeat publicly what I have said to them privately; I could not get my song to this level of quality without their efforts and I thank them from my heart!! You guys are great!! I am currently blocked from FB because they have suspected my computer has been infected with malware and require that I run a anti malware program of their choice. I am doing so right now because I have no other choice. No Facebook= No Fando. Hope to see you soon!!! "Letting Go" lyrics by Mel Donovan Oh......oh.....hey...hey... Oh.....oooo...hey.....ey....ey... Made up my mind, today Time, to let go Why look for sun In the falling snow Can't expect them to come If they want to go Ohh.....ooo.......letting go Time has come to go, with the flow Like a balloon, just climb on board Don't need these desires, any more Just cast them over the side And rise And glide There is no sense in carrying All these wants and wishes Not likely to come true, Any way The time has come for letting go Why look for the sun, in the falling snow Can't expect them to come If they want to go Going to leave it all behind And fly............and fly

"Waiting" acoustic version by Mel Donovan It seems to be dedication season in Fandoland and it is only fitting that I dedicate this song to a beautiful lady and person, whose passion for life is truly amazing.....Ms. Lori Oz. Lori I thank you whole hearted for sharing your creative talents and wonderful voice with me on our common works, but even more importantly, your honesty, candor, encouragement, kind words, friendship and inspiration you give to me freely. In a general sense, this song was partially inspired by you and because of your support and that of some others here and at home, I have the confidence to do this song solo. Thank you for being my friend Lori and I can hardly wait for you to share the studio version of "Here For A Reason" with everyone and I certainly know you will be happy to do so when the time is right. So here now is "Waiting". Two 12-string guitar tracks and two vocal tracks, everything done by me, so there is no one else to give credit to, but on the other hand, no one else to lay blame to either!! Lol Thank you for listening! Please use headphones if it's not too much trouble. ;-))

The Oort Cloud episode 6 Chapter 3 by Pierre Rosique with Cindy Marshall, Richard Trudeau, Jimmy Dean Brooks and Mel Donovan; "The Message and the Destiny" It is my honor and pleasure to share another of Pierre's masterpieces with everyone now that 2 months have already passed since his first posting. It is always a great joy to collaborate and hear how the project coordinator/ producer pulls all the pieces together to create a continuous flow of audio and visual delight. Pierre's ability to do so is second to none and this chapter is certainly proof again of his organizational skills and his keen ear and eye and sensitivity. He also has a way of bringing out the best in the artists that travel on board his ships as any great Captain should. I thank him and my fellow shipmates for making this such a pleasurable experience and look forward to future works from each and all. It hot summer weather around these parts, just right for sitting in the shade and having something for the thirst and a musical trip to embark upon to escape, if only for a while. Thank you Pierre for authorization to fly the shuttle today! Enjoy your holiday! Thank you for listening again to Pierre's magic!

Here is the link for Kai's AWAKE album preview and buy page; https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/awake/id906544498 "War Ghost" by Kai Botak--home version with Mel Donovan Hello my fellow Fandolites and friends... r... read moreead more from around the world!! This is a very special day for me because finally almost 3 years to the day I am able to share with you the very first collaboration I did over the net. This was only possible because HG Schmitz (some of you may know of whom I speak!! Lol) had contacted me in regards to my song "The Circus", which I was only too happy to send him once he taught me how to handle moving music files. I knew absolutely nothing and he kindly walked me through the process until I got it. He was very patient with me and I will never forget this. So by coincidence or davine intervention, Kai sends me a recording of her singing along with her guitar, a song she just wrote after a chance meeting with a war vet who could not sleep and did not want to wake his wife and young daughter. She was moved to write the song immediately and as soon as I heard it, I was moved to ask her permission to add guitar, strings and a vocal harmony. Thankfully she agreed and what I have posted here is the re-mixed and remastered version of those tracks from 3 years ago!! Kai has done a studio version of this song which can be heard on her AWAKE cd. Here is the link to her Reverbnation site, where you can get further information and songs and links. ;https://www.reverbnation.com/kaibotaksoundcloud:https://soundcloud.com/kai-12 It is my most sincere thanks to both Kai and HG for it is only because of their kindness and great hearts that I have reached 100 posts and with such talented artists and friends. So, here we go ladies and gentlemen; Kai Botak singing "War Ghost" with my backing stuff and a video I put together last night. Please enjoy this ladie's beautiful voice and song!! Thank all of you for your support, kind words and tracks in some cases!!

"Hummingbird Way" by Mel Donovan Featuring Mark Taylor on guitar and Marc Roberge on drums Hello... read more Fandolites and friends! It is my greatpleasure to share with you a very gentle instrumental created with the help of Mark and Marc without which this tune would not have turned out this way. I have wanted to play together with Mark Taylor for a while now because we have similar taste in guitar play and this is our first time together and I am glad I asked and he agreed to give this tune a shot. Marc Roberge and I have done many collabs together and he agreed to experiment with adding drums to what Mark and I came up with. I was concerned that the drums might clutter up the mix and not work well with the delicate balance of the guitars, but you can be the judge of that for yourselves. I certainly want to thank Mark & Marc for their fine efforts on this tune!! So, put away the dancing shoes, sit back, smoke it if you got it, and relax for a short bit on "Hummingbird Way". We thank you for listening!! Cheers!

"Time After Time" by Ken Sutton Ken wrote this song back in the 70's and we played it frequently in the original form. After our 25 year break and subsequent reunuion, I had had a the inspiration to rearrange the song to it's current form. Ken liked this and so we proceeded to record it on his Fostex 8-TRK digital recorder. He played guitar, synth sax and synth bass, synth drums and sang lead vocal. I added 12-string and backing vocals and did the recording and mixing. It was always a pleasure to work with Ken on original tunes and we also did the D.O.S. trio gigs with John Orr adding bass and his vocals. We will all miss Ken, but know that he is resting in a much happier place now and we will meet again in the future. Thank you all for listening and you nice comments!

Happy Mothers Day to all of you moms out there!! Today is the final day of THE EXPERIMENT, which I think we all agree has been a fantastic success and loads of fun!! My song with Alan is called "The Stig & Pat Jambouree and as you will note from some of the lyrics, I was done recording this rather early in the game. At that time Pat was still thinking of posting all the songs and so made a video with my offering. As we all know, things changed as the number of scientists grew. I did not want Pat's work to go to waste as he was a rather busy persong for the past few weeks, so I used his video and added the lyrics as he requested. A great BIG thanks to Pat and Stig for all of the time and efforts they invested into this project. It truly was fun and interesting. So here it is!! Please enjoy! Thanks from Alan and myself and Pat of course for your interest in our experiments!!

"Nobility Of Kings" music by Mel Donovan Lyrics by James Noble Hello again everyone!! Another week has gone by already and today's offering is another original tune. Because of James' way with words in his comments on everyone's posts, I asked him if he ever wrote lyrics and if so, would he please send me a sample to try and write a song to. A few days later James sent me the lyrics found in this song, but here is the interesting thing........the music for this song was recorded back in Nov./Dec. As I was reading the lyrics, they had a rhythm to them that I thought might match this music. When you listen you can judge for yourself if this strange coincidence happens to be true. Once again Brice Cross was kind enough to add his creative ideas on guitar and Marc Roberge was kind enough to add some drum fills and cymbals to the basic drum track to spice it up a couple of notches. My heart felt thanks to James, Brice and Marc for making it possible to bring you this song today!! You guys are both outstanding artists and people as well. This song also always had a warmer weather feel to it, so I guess it just wanted to wait until the proper weather had arrived here in the northern hemisphere. We hope you will enjoy our laid back and relaxed tracks for today. Thanks for all your support and listening, your comments are most welcomed here.

"Here For A Reason" by Oz/Donovan Hello once again Fandolites and friends. Today it is my pleasure to present another co-written original tune with Lori Oz, featuring James Noble on bass, Brice Cross guitar solo and HG Schmitz adding the drum programs and doing the mixing and mastering. The idea for this song came as a result of my visit to Vermont and the conversations between Brian, my brother, Lori and myself. Once the idea took hold the song took on a life of it's own and pushed Lori and me to get it done! lol I came up with the chorus and after going back and forth bouncing ideas between us, Lori wrote the verses. Once we had the arrangement settled I sent the basic tracks to James and he added a bass line that added punch to the already lively rhythm guitar play. Brice recieved those tracks plus Lori's and my vocal tracks and once again added a guitar solo that soars as does the spirit of the woman in the song! HG then took all of these tracks and added some fantastic drum programs that power the song up to it's full potential. I cannot thank all of these excellent artists enough for adding their creative spirits and musical know-how to this tune. You guys are fantastic artists and people. To Lori all I can say is that I am thankful beyond words that you said yes to this collab when it would have been just as easy to say no. You have a golden spirit Lori and Doc was right to call you Loriglory. Ok then.......let's do this!!! Please enjoy your listen! Cheers from all of us!!

YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING "You"ve Lost That Lovin' Feeling" a cover by DocProtool and The Melvinator... read more : Hello again fellow Fandolites and visitors. Another week has passed already and time for another posting. Doc and I discussed future postings when he was kind enough to help me out with "Tuesday Afternoon". As I stood at the kitchen window the other evening I thought of Doc and his low voice and myself with a mid and upper mid-range voice and this song performed by the Righteous Brothers back in the sixties popped into my head. I asked Doc if he would be interested in trying it and he responded with these fine backing tracks by the V5 and with his vocal. I added my vocal to his tracks and sent them. He then made some adjustments in his sing, basically adding some additional low harmonies with my vocals.Doc was generous enough to also add the video and as he is know for, I think it helps enhance the listening experience. We both hope you will enjoy our rendition of this tune. We enjoyed the recording process.Thank you for listening and your support!

"Honesty" by Billy Joel a cover by Mel Donovan with Annemiek Beex on piano First and foremost I want to thank Annemiek for agreeing to play the piano on this rendition with which the song becomes live as opposed to using a backing track. It was a comment on her page about liking Billy Joel and the fact that I had been singing this at random times at work that led me to the idea of actually trying to record this. If I remember right, I asked her if she would consider helping me do this on her page that very day. I think everyone can relate to this song in some way and part of the reason I wanted to post this was to send a message, which is from me alone and does not involve Annemiek in any way, as she has not seen this video either prior to when she visits here. It has come to my attention for some time now that not everyone is listening to, nor reading the intros and comments on artist's post. This subject has come up in the past and I feel it is time to address it again before the integrity of Fandoland suffers. I think it is a simple matter of respect to any artist who posts a song that; a) a visitor listen to the song--this is the most important point becuase there a numerous other sites you can blow smoke in and leave your name, if that is your main purpose b) before commenting, pay attention to the title details, such as who wrote the song, who played which instruments, who produced the song c) be kind in your assessments and supportive whenever possible, this does not mean lie. If you have nothing good to say, simply say nothing. The majority of our Fando community already do these things and have a great community spirit, this message is NOT for them. Unfortunately, the ones it is meant for will most likely not read this, nor watch the whole video. Please be clear on this;I am speaking for myself here; If you do not listen to my post--do NOT leave a comment. Enough said. And now for those of you still interested, here is "Honesty" Thank you for listening!!!!

"You Can't Always Get" by The Rolling Stones a cover by Paul Hoppe, Josefine Peter, Pierre Rosique, Kent Taylor and Mel Donovan I want to first thank my dear friends who joined together with me on this project which I thought would be a quick add some vocals and done kind of thing, but took on a life and direction of it's own, which as fools often do, we followed to the very end. Lol The first stumbling block was the idea of recreating the choir as it is in the original by getting help singing from some Fando folks. This idea went out the window as soon as I listened to the original after already recieving the base tracks from Paulie and Jose. No way I was going to be able to do get that done with real people, so I turned to Pierre, thinking he could use his synths and voice sampling or some other magic tricks. The irony of this is that there is almost no Pierre during the intro, but he was having so much fun playing with the rest of the song, that all of that is included in the final version! As Pierre was recording his tracks, I continued to struggle with the intro, trying any and all ideas that came to mind. I finally used the Helicon effects peddle and managed to get a somewhat satisfactory recording of chanting monks. It was soon after this that Pierre posted some photos of his beautiful country and when I saw the one that is now the cover photo for this song, I knew instantly it had a message and said as much in my comment on his FB post. This is where the intro speaking part came to mind. Some folks think I take this all too seriously at times and maybe so, but let me just say, that when you have waited half of a century for a dream to come true and it does in fact begin to happen thanks to so many wonderful artists and friends in Fandoland, that means a lot more to me than just having fun. Fun and pleasure in the doing are the happy by- products of joining creative spirits with other like minded people and is like nothing else in the world. This project is dedicated to all my friends who have helped to make this dream of creating wonderful music together a reality. THANK YOU one and all!! Now.......on with the show!! Paul Hoppe; drums, bass, electric guitar Josefine Peter; keys, french horn Pierre Rosique; synths Kent Taylor; lead vocal Mel Donovan; all vocals in intro, backing vocals, acoustic and electric 12-string guitars, mixing and mastering, video production

"Too Long" by Angelo Marinosci Jr. with guitar add-ons by Mel Donovan Angelo was kind enough to grant my request to play along with this tune he posted a short time ago on his page. I enjoyed several hours of just jamming along with him and this is the result. The video is made up of clips from Brian and my ski trip to Vermont early in February 2015. Thanks Angelo for the pleasure! You guitar wizards out there can relax, this is more in the mode of two guys sitting on the front porch jamming. We hope you enjoy your time here!! Thanks for listening and watching! P.S. The tune during the credits is a new song co-written with Lori Oz, soon to be in the final mixing stages. Cheers, Angelo and Mel

"Love Will Keep Us Alive" covered by Lori Oz with Mel Donovan recorded live Hello fellow Fandolites and visitors!! Today's post is a live recording done on my laptop with no edits other than the very beginning and very end of the original file. Lori and I had no idea we were going to be recording our little jam session, which we had talked about having a chance to play together in person during my visit to Smuggler's Notch for a ski vacation. I realized as my brother Brian and I were going up on the lift one day, that because I had my laptop to keep in touch, we could just use the capture mode to record the video and sound. Not an ideal method, however, better than no method. Now that we have been home for a couple of weeks, I am even more happy that recorded our time there because it is fading like a dream upon wakening. So here it is...."it is what it is", We went over the song 2 times before turning on the recorder and let it fly!! hehe We hope you enjoy this as much as we did doing it! Thanks for listening and watching!!

"Handle With Care" by the Travelling Wilburys A cover by Paul, Taka, Marc, Tedd and Mel. Well here it is Sunday again already and it is my pleasure to take my turn posting this tune. It has been a while since we finished this and I find myself needing to refresh my memory as to how this came about. Paul contacted me and I thought this was his idea, only to find out when Marc posted, that the song was Taka's idea to begin with. I ask Paul if it would be OK if I became the project co-ordinater and he said sure....I could be the boss!! Haha As anyone who has worked with me before knows, I do steer the boat because somebody has to in order to get where you want to go, but it is in the hours of communication and collection of files and producing that I have grown quite fond of doing these collabs. On original tunes, I try to set out a general guidelins in the form of basic tracks and then let the contributing artist/artists have complete freedom to add their creative input. This is an even more satisfying feeling. Ok, before it is Monday already, here is "Handle With Care". For the many of you who have already visited Marc's and Taka's posts, thank you for stopping by here as well. Paul; drums Marc; lead vocal Tedd; lap-steel guitar Taka; bass, Roy's vocals, harmonica Mel; 12-string, 3 part harmony in bridge, production and video Thanks you guys for making this a fun project to do with your timely and well done tracks!! Thanks for listening and watching!!

"The Oort 6th-Chapter1" by Pierre Rosique Well what do you know, it's Sunday again already and today I am happy and proud to post Chapter1 of Pierre's epic Oort Cloud series. Although I am only one of the many artists contributing to this musical journey, Pierre has been generous enough to give each of us the option to post this on our own pages. I do so because of the quality of work involved and also because of the friendship and mutual support Pierre and I have developed between us since we first played together on "Astralys Dawn At Water's edge" and the following songs in that saga, which by the way, has one last final chapter to be finished. In this posting, I join with Jerome LeMay and Kathy Shortt in a rotation of singing responsibilities that Pierre asigned to us. Jay took care of piloting this shuttle craft and did a premix of our tracks for Pierre to add his additional musical thoughts to. This project is quite complex, but due to his clear direction and organzational skills, Pierre managed to put all of these tracks from all of the artists together into a continuous and seamless story with an ouststanding video as well!! Thank you so much Pierre for inviting me for this flight upon your mothership, it is always a pleasure working with your creations! Please enjoy your listen as we head to the Oort Cloud!!

"Far In The Distance" lyrics;Kathy Shortt music; Mel Donovan Hello fellow Fandalites and friends!! It is with great pleasure that I share with you a performance by Kathy Shortt that is just about as good as it gets!! I recorded the twin guitar tracks in early November and thought they would be just right for Kathy's voice, what I didn't know was what lyrics she would write, nor the melody lines she would choose. When I recieved her practice tracks it was a very pleasant surprise to hear what she had come up with. She worked hard during theNovember-December time frame and refined both her lyrics and sing until they have become seamless with the guitar play. A fantastic effort and the results are here for you to hear. I highly recommend headphones and eyes closed in a relaxed sitting position for best results and your safety as you are about to travel "Far In The Distance"!! Thank you Kathy, you are truly an excellent artist/songwriter and person!! Thank all of you for listening. The video is a chronology of cover photos of Kathy's and my co-written songs and "Ontario" to which I added guitar and backing vocals. Please enjoy!!

"Tuesday Afternoon" The Moody Blues covered By The Doc and The Melvinator Hello our Fando friends and visitors!! Today it is my pleasure to post a collaboration between Guenter Sieling and myself doing one of my all time fravorite tunes by the Moody Blues!! I approached Doc with this idea around Christmas time and was very pleased to get his synth, bass, guitar and drum mix file last week. These sounded so good it gave me a great shot of inspiration to finally sing this song with the proper instrumentation backing. I added my guitar and vocals and this is the result. Of course, Doc did the video, who does them any better? Doc, I thank you whole heartedly for making this possible and for your attention to detail. We thank you all for listening and watching......please enjoy!!

"The Beauty Of Life" lyrics and vocals by Leila Licks composition and guitar by Mel Donovan. Happy New Year to all my friends and fellow Fandolites!! Today it is my pleasure to share with you a collaboration with my friend Leila Licks, whom I met on Reverbnation, at least a couple of years ago. Since that time Leila has helped me out with the chorus on "The End Song" along with Melody Dawn and she has co-written a song with HG Schmitz called "Ordinary King", as well as recording an album. Leila was also one of the singers in "The Christmas Project" and has been a member of Fandalism for some time now. Here is her link to check out her other posts;http://fandalism.com/leilalicks I once said to Leila that I would like to hear her sing a "happy" song and even though neither of us was thinking of that while working on this tune, I think it is quite safe to say that, that wish has been fulfilled with this song. We thank you all for listening and appreciate your comments. Please enjoy our song!!

"Best Wishes 2" I posted this last year and removed it before Thanksgiving this year because it is the closest thing I have to a Christmas song! I hope I don't get fined or arrested or anything. It has been a rough end to this year, but believe me, to ALL of YOU, I hope you have a great "Holiday Season" !! I say it that way so everyone is included. To all of you who still believe in Santa Claus.....make sure you are in bed asleep by 10:00 or he will not come. To those of you who believe in the Bible, we are surely blessed to have a LOVING GOD who would sacrifice HIS SON for our sins! Please enjoy the song.

Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - The Peace United Choir Singers 27 November 2014 Greetings to all our Fando family and friends!! It is my pleasure and honor to be able to post "The Christmas Project" on my page even though I only played a small part in the making of it. Richard, Mark and Pierre really outdid themselves with this total production in all aspects. Just handling all the files from 51 singers and 6 artists' instruments is a mind boggling task. Add to this all the videos from the same and quite frankly, I have to wonder if Richard has recovered yet! Lol So please enjoy the work of all these fellow artists and friends and may some day war really be over!! Warm wishes to all for all the days ahead.

"As If It Is Your Last Day" Schmitz/Donovan Hello our Fando friends! It is once again a great pleasure to have shared the creative process with Mr. HG Schmitz, whom I think most of you know! Lol HG was the first person that I collaborated with so many months ago and it was he who opened the door for all the other common works I have had the pleasure of doing with you talented and wonderful artists here in Fandoland. Things are not always perfect here, but it sure beats all the other sites put together because of you, the members. HG was kind enough to send me this composition and I had great pleasure in working with it. We ask you to please, just watch and listen firt before commenting, so that you can focus on the combined video/song. Thank you all so very much for your support, friendship and sharing your talents!! Please enjoy! "As If It's Your Last Day" music; HG Schmitz lyrics; Mel Donovan Another day Slipping away No one has the right to tell you How to live your life No one can decide for you Which path is wrong or right We all come into this world With a clean slate Our book of life is new Full of blank pages through and through It's up to us to determine The story it tells in the end Will it be full of love and compassion A sharing of joy with family and friends Slippin' away Another day If you find someone to share in your love Keep them close to your heart Each new day is so precious Make each count right from the start Live it as if it is your last day Take each new day as it comes Live it as if it is your last day Take each new day as it comes repeating phrase; in the background (live, laugh, love life) Don't waste it away Another day Slippin away Another day Don't waste it away Another day

"One Step From The Curb" This is a tune with a social commentary and expresses the anxiety that I ... read morethink many, maybe millions in fact, feel about our current state of economic health. I have had the music recorded for quite some time, but could not get in the right frame of mind to write the lyrics until just recently. Because of the quick tempo I needed help with the guitar solo and Mr. Brice Cross was kind enough to take on the task. Thank you Brice!! I did all the other stuff involved with the making of the song and video. Warning: this is NOT a pleasant song/video, but life is not all lollipops and cotton candy. "Lounging By The Sun" recorded and performed by Mel Donovan No biggie here folks. Came across an interesting melody line while in alternate tuning and decided to just go with it. I started with the 12-string (surprised aren't you?), found the drum program, added cello for bass, harp, strings, and finally electric guitar. Some of you will notice the video clips are very familiar because I am recycling them to save time. I took a 3 day break from Fando to stop the echos in my head and quite honestly it seemed more like weeks. Thank you all for the time you take to stop and listen to any of my songs. There is no other place like Fandoland and even with all it's faults, it outshines all the other music sites. So sit back, relax and please enjoy some time Lounging By The Sun P.S. ""Doctor My Eyes" covered by Mel Donovan "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne Another week has passed us by and it is Sunday again already!! I am resting after having surgery on Friday, but had recorded this a couple of weeks ago, so it was basically ready to post. I have missed a lot of your posts over the past week and will have time to catch up, since I will be unable to go to my day-job for a couple of weeks. This is one of my favorite Jackson Browne tunes and I played this live both as a solo artist and with my D.O.S. trio. On this recording I used the TC-Helicon Voicelive play effects peddle to add the harmonies as I played the tune and recorded it live on my laptop going through the recorder first. This allowed me to add just a bit of piano to fill a little since I can in no way claim to be qualified to play piano! So here you have it, my offering of the day. Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement!

"Living A Dream" "Living A Dream" Donovan/Shortt Hello Fandalites and friends from around the world! It is a honor and great pleasure to present a collaboration with Kathy Shortt, HG Schmitz and James Noble!! We recorded "Daybreak" as an instrumental song and were satisfied with the results, but at the same time I asked Kathy if she would like to try working with it. To my surprise she not only tried, but succeeded in writing lyrics and finding a melody for her to sing that not only works, but lifts the song as a whole. Making a song the best it can be is a goal we all strive for and with the addition of my backing vocals and the video that I invested much time in, I feel that we as a team achieved this goal. The lyrics are included in the video for those of us who have hearing problems and those who can read English, but have trouble with the spoken word. My heart felt thanks go to my fellow artists here; THANK YOU, James, HG and KATHY for your creative input on this song!! Here now is the list of artists and their contributions to the song. MEL DONOVAN; original composition, 12- string guitar, synth harp, backing vocals, video production KATHY SHORTT; lyrics, melody, lead vocal JAMES NOBLE; bass and electric guitars HG SCHMITZ; final arrangement, drum programs, mixing and mastering Please enjoy our music video, thanks for your support and comments are always welcomed! "Lady Madonna" covered for the joy! "Lady Madonna" by THE BEATLES a cover by Annemiek Beex, Marc Roberge and Mel Donovan Hello Fando members and friends! It has been my great pleasure to play with Annemiek on piano and Marc doing drums, bass, synth sax, backing vocals and kazoo, while I did the rhythm guitar, electric guitar, synth sax and sang lead vocal on this very short, but energetic Beatles' tune. Anne had posted a song with a very similar style of play and as soon as I heard it I felt we would be able to pull this cover off. She agreed to give it a shot and I contacted Marc to see if he was done his wall project and was interested in joining us. Thankfully he was and so, together we put our efforts, quite enthusiastically I must say, into recording what you will now hear. We thank you very much for listening and always appreciate your thoughts and comments! Please enjoy!

"Autumn Song" This original tune just popped out during the last couple of days, a testament to what some decent sleep and some time away from your job can do for one's creative spirit. A couple of notes; the video clip of the birds going down the chimney was shot by my brother at Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington Delaware. Quite a strange thing to see. Also the lyrics during that segment should have been "Winter's on it it's way", but I didn't want to risk redoing the vocals which are all first takes. I wanted to use my electric guitar and play with the effects I have and so I did!! Lol This is not the rocking tune some may have expected, but one of these days I will knock one out! Please enjoy your listen and of course comments are welcome!

"Ontario" by Kathy Shortt "Ontario" by KATHY SHORTT What? It's Sunday again already?? Well that means it is time to post another collaboration with Kathy Shortt, this time on a song she composed both the music and lyrics to. Back in March after hearing several of Kathy's posts I became impressed with the tonal qualities and a real earthy feel of her voice and so I sent a message to her asking if she might be interested in playing together on an original tune. To my delight she replied in the affirmative and as luck would have it she had just purchased a new Apple computer, with the intent to start doing home recordings. I offered to help her in any way that I could and sent her the file for "Water" which I had quickly arranged, just to get something to her. Kathy in return, sent me the tune we are posting today, "Ontario". On my first add-ons to this song, I was concerned that there was no click track because Anne Reid, her long time friend, and Kathy recorded the guitar and lead vocal track live, so adding a drum program was going to be impossible and this led to looking at the song from the wrong point of view. After many months now, I pulled the song up again with the idea of just playing along with what was there and today's post is the result of this. In the months that have passed, Kathy has become arguably one of the most popular artists on Fandalism due to the quality of her work, both vocally and as a lyricist, but also because of her charming Canadian personality. With this in mind, it is even more of a honor and always a pleasure to have the chance to play with her on any tune, but especially our shared original tunes. "Water", "Too Many Promises", "Living A Dream" and "Ontario" and one in the works have help me to round out my catalouge of songs in a way I could not achieve alone. THANK YOU KATHY for all that you do to the best of your ability. Thank you Anne for a really fine guitar track you did with Kathy. Thank all of you for listening!! We hope you enjoy our efforts and please feel free to comment and share. Cheers!!

"Daybreak" "Daybreak" 2014 Well here it is Sunday again already and it is an honor and pleasure to present another Fando alumni collab!! This time I am joined by James Noble once again, performing on guitar and bass. Also, HG Schmitz has added his creative input with the drum programs, mixing and mastering. HG also did some fine tuning to the arrangement, which brought my guitar and synth play together tight with James' play and HG's drums. No need to post lyrics today for this is an instrumental version. In a few weeks I hope to be posting "Living A Dream", which is the version with vocals by Kathy Shortt and myself sung to the melody and lyrics by Kathy. HG is in the process of working with those vocal tracks, along with his other projects at this time. So we certainly hope you enjoy the video and our musical creativity on our post today!! Thank you for watching, commenting and sharing!! "Too Many Promises" Donovan/Shortt Hello once again fellow Fandolites and visitors!! Today, it is my honor to present to you an original tune co-written with Kathy Shortt, with Brice Cross on guitar and Marc Roberge adding drums. First I have to thank Kathy whole heartedly for the time she has devoted to this song and the beautiful video she has put together to go with it. Kat, your voice is much sought after and for good reason, you are a first class singer. When you sent me the first lines to your lyrics I was blown away by how much meaning there is in so few words!! We hit some rough spots in the road leading to this day, but in the end, with the help of both Marc and Brice, the pieces all fell into place. I thank both of them for their creative input which helped to lift the song to it's full potential. There is so much I would like to say, but I will just let the song do the talking for me instead. We certainly hope you enjoy visit today and Kathy is posting on her page also. I'm sure I don't need to encourage any of you to visit with her too! Thanks for listening and your comments are always welcomed. MEL DONOVAN; original compostion, arrangement, production, rhythm guitars, synth cello, backing vocals, mixing and mastering, project manager KATHY SHORTT; vocal melody, lyrics, lead vocal, video production BRICE CROSS; guitar intro, solo, and fills MARC ROBERGE; drum and cymbal fills and right hand man ;-)) recorded July-Sept. 2014 All rights reserved Too many Promises Come with me let’s dance in the rain Oh wash away all of your pain Feel the raindrops fall down on your skin Oh, Let the peace inside of you begin Whoa Let the peace let the piece begin Come with me to a new galaxy Whoa Whispering winds set you free Oh, oh, oh, oh, on a hot summers day You can dream of places You want to escape Oh dream of places you want to escape Chorus Too many lies Too many mistakes Too many promises That you cannot make There are too many promises 3x That you cannot make Oh, oh, oh, come me 2x Chorus 1x Too many promises!! 6x You cannot make~~~

"Beautiful Boy" Jenni was kind enough to invite Marc Roberge and me to work with this charming tune that all parents can relate to. Jenni sent her track to me with her lead vocal and keyboard play, which included the bass line. I added two guitar tracks plus three backing vocal tracks to which Marc added his drums and two backing vocal tracks. This simple, yet infectious song ended up including 24 tracks, which I then mixed. AS you have already heard this by now on Marc's or Jenni's pages, you will know the tune. Hope you enjoy our efforts!

"After The Arden Fair Gig 2014" Hello fellow Fandalites and visitors!! Before we did this gig I said I would post some of it so you could see what my D.O.S. brothers and I do when we play live. The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired, but we had to use an old Sony digital camera for both audio and video. Unfortunately, the camera was set up too close th the P.A. speaker and not near enough to our amps, so that the vocals are way out front and there was no soundman to mix or adjust. I do plan to post the 2 original songs we played in the future. I hope you will enjoy this for what it is and we thank you for listening! "Be My Baby" covered by Annette Boye & Mel Donovan Hello yet once again everyone! Today's posting is a cover of "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes that I have the pleasure of having Annette Boye singing the lead vocal. When we did "Stand By Me" together there was something in her voice that tickled my brain, but I couldn't quite recall the song that I was thinking of. Sure enough, several weeks later while at work I just started singing "BMB" out of the blue and realized that this was the song I was trying to recall. I contacted Annette and she recognized the song and agreed to give it a shot. Here then are the results with a video I put together last night. My grand daughter Noli is making her recording debut here by helping me with the clapping track. Thank you Annette for agreeing to doing this tune, I think you did an excellent sing. Thank all of you for watching, your support and any comments you wish to leave. One note; if Fando starts acting up, I plan to pull this and repost at a later time. This is due to the amount of time I have invested into recording all the instruments and backing vocals. OK then......here is our rendition, we hope you enjoy your visit!!

AWAKE promo Hello my friends, in an effort to give back at least some of the kindness and support that Kai showed me a couple of years ago as I was getting back into music, I would like to make you aware that the album AWAKE, which she was just writing songs for when I first met her is now available for purchase. She and her fellow artists did a fantastic job of bringing these songs to life and getting them to CD, so that they could be shared. The production and mixing of her excellent group of musicians is outstanding and worth the listen alone. Here are the links to her Reverbnation site and CdBaby page; http://www.reverbnation.com/kaibotak http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kaibotak2 I hope you will give this very talented and hard working artist your support. Enjoy her music please! The songs of mine posted here are songs that Kai helped inspire in one way or another. I should have included "Witchy Woman" and "Fly With Me", but this video is long already!!

"Mrs Robinson" covered by Mel Donovan Cover of Mrs. Robinson It's hard to believe, but it is Sunday again!! I feel like I was just typing last week's intro a few hours ago. Any ways....hello fellow Fandalites and visitors. I have no orginal tunes ready for posting today, so I decided to do a live recording of a song I perform both solo and with my trio brothers, Ken and John. Which, by the way, I hope to have a live recording of our gig from this coming Saturday night to share with you all soon. In the meantime, here is my rendition of the classic Simon & Garfunkel tune, "Mrs. Robinson". I hope you enjoy or get a chuckle or any old up lifting feeling will do!! For those of you out there that do this type of thing, I reccomend you try this song.....it has a surprising amount of energy in it. Thanks for listening and feel free to comment and share. "Skipping Stones" "Skipping Stones" Hello again my fellow Fandalites and visitors to my page! Another week has come and gone and I find it hard to believe it is so, but I do have a new original tune ready to post and this is due to the great play and sincere effort on the part of Scott Powers and Stephen Jones who agreed to add there creative input to a little rhythm guitar riff I had sent to them. Their play lifted the song and gave me the inspiration for the backing guitar track I added after we had solved the mystery of the syncing problems we were having. Here now is the final result of our combined efforts set to a video I put together last night. Thank you Scott and Steve for your excellent play and thank you all for taking time to listen!! We hope you enjoy. Also, Scott and Stephen have their own pages with a ton of quality songs on them, so do take a trip their way when you can. Cheers............Mel, Scott and Steve!! "Time Squeeze" "Time Squeeze" Mel Donovan Hello again dear friends and visitor's to Fando... read moreland! Wow, it seems like just yesterday we were posting "Water", now here we are again. This tune actually deals with the subject of time and an effect it has on every one of us, whether you want it to or not. The idea for this tune came about in a conversation with the first person I ever collaborated with through the net. We were talking about her dad's unbending will to hike The Pesidential Range, even though his injuries from a rock climbing accident less than a year earlier, had still not full healed. I said to her that it sounded like he was feeling the squeeze of time and she replied; "That sounds like your next song". And so, here it is almost a year later. Finished with the help of Marc Roberge on drums, Tedd VanWagner on lap steel and bass and with video help from my dear Queen....Melody Dawn, who was able to create a sequence in the video, that I couldn't possibly do myself. I thank to the three of you for your creative input and making the song more meaningful. We all thank you for taking the time to watch and listen to our collaboration! Your comments are most welcomed!! I realized today that I forgot to mention my good friend Pierre Rosique sent me the different clock chimes some months ago, which I edited and mixed together for this tune. Thanks Pierre! Mel Donovan; song idea, 12-string, lyrics, vocals, video editing Marc Roberge; drums Tedd Van Wagner; bass, lap steel guitar Melody Dawn; video production of the clock motion segment Thanks again every body.........HAVE FUN!!!

"Water" "Water" by Mel Donovan & Kathy Shortt Hello dear friends and visitors to Fandalism! It is... read more has been a fantastic joy and honor to work with Kathy on an original tune that started with the simple 12-string guitar riff running through the song,to the 100th final take of Kathy's vocal!! No, not really!! This is #12 of 15 decided on by a scientific study conducted Friday and Saturday by....you guessed it, Kathy and Adam (?). Seriously though, I do really appreciate the amount of effort and time Kathy put into this song and she also did the video, which I love almost as much as her voice. I also want to thank Mr. Kent Taylor for his excellent play on drums and Phil Beauchamp, for his violin solo which adds a special touch to the song. So here it is, after months in the oven; "Water" We certainly hope you enjoy your listen and thanks for your comments and support, which make Fando the great community that it is. Live Saturday Night 7 19 14 Live Saturday Night Well here it is Sunday again and I don't have a formal song/video ready at this time to post, so last night I decided to record something live for a couple of reasons; 1) I wanted to put these compositions in public and see if anyone out there wants to possibly work with them and 2) because I wanted to promote a collab I have been working on with Kathy Shortt, since March. The song is called "Water" and Kathy wrote and is singing the lyrics to a composition I play all instruments on except on drums, we are honored to have Mr. Kent Taylor (yes also wanted dead or alive for being ring leader of the Taylor Gang) and Kathy's friend Phil on violin. Posting date is still not 100% firm....but soon. So any way, there are 2 compositions here; the 1st is incomplete, but gives the listener the idea of where it is going; the 2nd I do have a total arrangement for, although it was deleted when my recorder crashed and I will have to start from scratch on recording the work file for it. Don't forget the teaser for "Water" at the very end!! Thanks for listening!!! Cheers, Mel

New Day Whoops, I meant to write this 9 hours ago!! hehe Oh well, first let say thanks to Marc for agreeing to add his drums and bass play to this tune. His play influenced my play as I added additional tracks to his foundation. "The sun comes up" stuck in my head right from the get go and I just went with it. The melody line just fell right into place as did the harmonies. As a lot of you know for yourselves, some songs come easy and some songs come hard. This tune for what ever reason came easy. Hope you enjoy your listen and we appreciate your comments. Mel Donovan; basically everything except I needed Marc's drums and bass to get me going and he really did a great job doing that!!

Helplessly Hoping Hello my friends, today I am happy to be sharing a post with Toni Schicho and Gabi Klima of a cover tune from Crosby, Stills and Nash called "Helplessly Hoping". It seems that we share an admiration for their music and there seems to be little of it being done in Fandoland. I was happy to recieve Toni and Gabi's invite and enjoyed singing along with their tracks. We hope you will enjoy your listen and thanks Toni and Gabi for this opportunity. Toni and Gabi did all the hard work here, I just added a harmony part. Gabi handled the beautiful video work.

Stand by me Annette and Melvin Cover of a Ben E. King original tune. Hello again folks!! This week I am happy to share a cover tune called "Stand By Me" written by Ben E. King. Annette posted this on Facebook a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I started playing it, I found myself singing along with her on this classic. I sent her a request for her tracks so that I could add the backing vocals and happily she did just that. Here now is the results. Annette added her guitar part to a backing track and sang a very beautiful lead vocal to which I added three part harmony backing vocals. Please sing along if you feel the urge to. Thank you Annette for this opportunity to sing with you and for the help you have given to me in the past. You are a great example of what Fandalism is all about!! Thanks for listening dear friends!! Cheers!

AS EASY AS TAKING CANDY FROM A BABY, 2014"As Easy As Taking Candy From A Baby" HG Schmitz and Mel Donovan Hello our fellow Fando citizens and visitors!! What a great pleasure and honor it is for me to once again work with HG on one of his awesome compositions which he performed and recorded and then sent to lucky me for the addition of lyrics and vocals. HG knows my love of the acoustic guitar and as soon as I heard this recording I fell in love with this tune. There are a lot of mood changes as the music flows along and thankfully I had a real life experience that matched this in it's peaks and valleys as time went by. I have to thank Hans for all the wonderful music he has asked me to be involved with as well as the many songs of mine that he has added such great tracks to. I should also mention that HG gives his collaborators total freedom in the creative process, such a good idea, I use it in my other collabs as well. We all know that it is the love of music that is the engine that drives Fando forward and we wish all of you the best in your creative efforts, which collectively, allow Fandalism to shine like a beacon to like minded artists.HG and I sincerely appreciate your support and we hope now, you will enjoy a listen to our tune. Thanks for watching and listening and of course, comments are welcomed. HG Shmitz; song idea, performed and recorded all instruments, mixed and mastered final tracks and edited the video from Vimeo Mel Donovan; lyrics, performed and recorded all vocals and edited the cover photo

Seven Bridges Road performed by Lori Oz and Mel Donovan Hello again my fellow citizens of Fandalism and visitors as well. It is my great pleasure to share with you an acapella version of "Seven Bridges Road" that many of you may have listened to on Lori's page a few days ago. As soon as I finished listening to her solo version, I immediately sent a request to her asking if she would be willing to send me that very file so that I could try singing along with her. I was very happy to receive her track and began to work with it right away. The results are what you are about to hear. I have wanted to sing with Lori ever since first hearing her awesome voice and we have agreed to a future collaboration of an original tune when such a tune becomes available and we can both fit it into our schedules. This is truly a honor for me and we hope you will enjoy your listen!! Lori Oz: Lead vocal Mel Donovan: all harmonies and mixing, video editing

"Because" Cover Tune "Because" by The Beatles A cover tune project by Glenn Basham, Jerome Jr. LeMay and Mel Donovan Hello fellow Fandalites and visitors. It is my great pleasure to present to you the results of our experiment to see if we could do a cover of "Because". Be assured we were not positive we could achieve this goal and it wasn't until I recieved Glenn's vocal tracks and had them on the recorder with Jay's and mine and hit the play button, that I felt we had done what we had set out to do, cover the best example of The Beatles' vocal talents. Each of us did three separate tracks of our respective harmony part. I must make mention of the fact we were saved countless hours of time and trouble by finding a break down of these parts on youtube. Here is the link if you are interested in checking it out.http://youtu.be/qWONqXt1XZ8 As musicians, I think you will find this video quite interesting as well. So, we had all the vocal tracks and this made up the acapella version. At some point Jay said to me, he couldn't wait to hear it with the music. I had been learning to play the song in case we decided to go this route. Anyone who has played twelve string will tell you they hate bar chords....very hard on the hands and that is mostly how this song is played. I put away the twelve and opted for the electric 6-string, capoed on the 2nd fret. This allowed for more open chords to be played. I chose the effects to resemble the sound on the original and added a synth cello and picolo to fill the music out. It was once again a great pleasure to work with Glenn Basham and for the first time with Jerome LeMay. We have already agreed between us to do an original tune in the near future which will feature three part harmonies of our own design. Thanks Glenn and Jay for taking the risk with me and putting your best effort forward and Jay, nice surprise adding your guitar track for yet another version. Ok......enough said. Here then is both versions. Please enjoy your listen! Glenn Basham: Paul McCartney's vocal part Jerome LeMay: John Lennon's vocal part Mel Donovan: George Harrison's vocal part, electric guitar, synth cello & picolo mixing and mastering Thank you John, Paul, George and Ringo for all the hours of pleasure listening to, playing and singing your music!!!

"Dawn Patrol" "Dawn Patrol" Hello friends and visitors to Fandoland! It is my privilege to ... read morehave the input of two very talented artists from Fandalism on this sleepy little song, that they injected a massive dose of go- juice into! I am speaking of Mr. Danny Roffe and Mr. HG Schmitz. It is my great fortune to have come to know these two musicians and to have there input on this tune. Any one of you, that has ever been to an air show will know why, I was extremely happy to find some free video from the U.S.A.F Thunderbirds flight team to go along with this music. It is to them that this music video is dedicated. We do not indorse war as a means of settling the differences which arise between governments, but there is a majestic power to these machines in flight that is undeniable. It is our hope that peace will one day dominate our world. For the time being, we hope you will all enjoy the show and the music!! "Witchy Lady" 2 "Witchy Lady" Before I post the original intro I would like to apologize to BiBi ... read more for using her Fando photo in the first version of this video before getting her authorization. This was an oversight on my part due to my haste in getting the video done and what I thought was a non-controversial song. Be sure that I have now gotten permission from the other original artists as well as one other and two other invited declined to be included. This has been a real learning experience for me and for that I thank you BiBi. Now here is the original intro: "Witchy Lady" (c) 2013 Hello dear friends and visitors to Fandalism, while waiting for current projects to come to completion, I looked into my files and found this song which I lost the original tracks to when my recorder crashed last December. So, this mix that was on my laptop is all I have left of it and I decided what the heck last night and set about putting together a video to go with it. The person who inspired this song was actually the first person I collaborated with over the internet and without whose kindness and encouragement early on, I simply would not be writing these words to you right now. I learned so much from this very kind soul and will be grateful to her until my last breath is drawn. This is dedicated to all the "Witchy Ladies" on Fandalism who dazzle us with your singing and sparkling personalities!! Sorry I couldn't include all of you, for you all are inspiring to us!! Hope you enjoy the song and thanks for listening!!! "Ulterior Motives" Hello again dear Fandolites and visitors!! It is again my honor and great ple... read moreasure to present a collaboration between Mr. HG Schmitz and myself. HG recorded all the instruments and sent me the mix with the message; "Mel, I think your voice is right for this tune, will you consider singing something to it?" As before with "Sweet Whispers" my reaction was imediate and as I listened to the song, I felt inspired by what I heard!! I asked HG if there was a particular subject he had in mind for the lyrics and his reply was; "No, just keep the title "Ulterior Motive" please." It has been my experience so far in collaborations, to allow your fellow artists total freedom in the creative process, you never know what they will come up with and with that in mind, I went right to work recording and the first part I did and kept was the very last part of the song, of course!! If I Fell (Beatles cover) - Glenn Basham and Melvin Donovan Hello dear Fandolites and visitors, After listening to quite a number of Glenn's uploads, I was quite amazed by the resemblance of Glenn's voice to Paul McCartney's and I have been told on occasion that mine sounds similar to John Lennon's. Probably doesn't have anything to do with singing Beatle songs for 50 years now!! lol....is that possible??? We both, as well as so many other folks, just LOVE The Beatles music still after all these years. Now there has been some discussion on the merits of doing cover tunes as close to the original as possible versus "making them your own" or making some changes to the original to put it in other words. I find myself agreeing with both points of view. The rendition that Kent Taylor did of "Dear Prudence" for instance, in my opinion was outstanding. Glenn's and my goal with "If I Fell" was to see if we could capture the heart of John and Paul's harmonies with our voices. This is why there is only one acoustic guitar (true, 12 strings, but) and our two voices. We leave it up to you the listener to decide if we achieved our goal. At the very least, we surely hope you enjoy your listen, as we enjoyed working together on this fantastic tune. song written by Lennon-McCartney Paul's vocal part; Glenn Basham John's vocal part; Mel Donovan Rhythm guitar; Mel Donovan Video; GlennBasham Thank you for watching and please feel free to comment!! "Everybody" Hello again everyone in Fandoland!!! It is with great pleasure and honor to post a new song on which the talented Mr. HG Schmitz was kind enough to give his time and attention to. Once again his intuition as to what best will lift a song up are evident in the tracks that he added. Thank you HG!!! The general shape of this song was on my recorder by the end of December, but it was a conversation that took place on Kent Taylor's page in early January between him, Marc Roberge, Tedd and eventually HG and myself and others, that motivated me to start recording the vocals a few minutes later. The subject of discussion was the spirit with which the folks of Fandolism have come together to celebrate- not compete, to build up- not tear down, to share-not to covet and to laugh-not argue!! That is a lot of talent on this Fandalism site, but fortunately for us all, it seems the egos have been left behind. It has been the greatest pleasure of my life in recent years to have become a member of this community!!! So come on EVERYBODY and let's celebrate our shared love of music!! Astralys Memory (Twilight at water's edge) Hello again dear Fando friends!! It is with great pleasure that I am able to share with you a composition, "Astralys Memory", which Pierre Risoque uploaded before Christmas with an invitation to guitarists, to contact him if they had a desire to add to his creation. I did not hesitate to reply with the hope that I could possibly find some colors to add to his already beautiful musical painting. Pierre was kind enough to send me two mixes, one with the drums and one without. There is something magical to me about the way these drums come in and out of the painting, so I worked with that mix exclusively. What you hear here is Pierre's final mix of his pristine sounds and my guitar add-ons. As I worked with his music a very vivid picture formed in my mind as to what story was being told and if I had several months, an endless money supply and some professional motion picture help, you would be seeing that in this video!! But, that not being the case, I searched Vimeo and finally on page 246 or so, there was this video by Sven Zickler (free-inspiration.com) that is so beautiful, I thought it would to a great job with some editing. So, here is Pierre's masterpiece with a little bit of color he allowed me to add. Please enjoy the journey!! Thank you Pierre for your generosity and kindness, hope you like the video as well!!! The Endless Song First I also want to apologize to Michel Gypen for the syncing problem, must be gremlins in the machine:-) also to the artists who for various reasons could not be included in this final version. We thank you for your time and effort and hope you will understand. To HG I can't think of words to express my gratitude in bringing this project to fruition, for truly without your organizational skills and musical genius, this video would not exist. To the contributors; once again, what words express the feelings of seeing your dreams come true! The spirit with which you each took on this project is what makes this Fandalism site special. It is the expression each and every one of you added individually that makes this song a celebration of music. My heart felt thanks goes out to each and all!! And Melody, thank you so much for your vocal tracks, which all will be able to hear more of in a time not yet determined. To Leila Licks; Your vocal tracks are also much appreciated and will not go to waste, but also will be forthcoming. To Pud: I hope you have had a chance to visit these many fine people you have brought together here through your site. To me it almost seems a miracle!!! Thank you. One more note.....In a conversation with a friend on Reverbnation the subject of what would make us happy came up. He made a funny remark the point of which was, he'd have a million selling hit. I replied that I was not really sure. I now know the answer because it has happened!! What makes me happy is the respect and FRIENDSHIP of my fellow musicians. Thank you one and all for being the wonderful people you are....Now, is there anyone who is going to listen to 1/2 hours worth of guitarists again, after reading the comments on HG's page, it doesn't really doesn't matter anymore....I am as happy as I can be!!!

"You've Got toHide Your Love Away" Beatles cover tune by Mel Donovan Hello Fando alumni!! I recorded this simple Beatle's tune the same day as "This Boy" and decided to upload it today on impulse. This is one of The Beatles' tunes we always played around the campfire, everyone knew the words and it was easy to play!! But what a great song from a fabulous movie. I remember we all went to the store and bought black t-shirts and faded jeans like Paul was wearing in the movie. I was finally able to purchase the Help dvd and my grand children loved watching it as well. Ok then, "I can say no more" but please enjoy and sing along loud!!! That way I sound better!!! hahehehlalala.....LOVE music!!

Best Wishes 1 Michel Gypen has done a stellar job of musical work on this collaboration by taking th... read moree basic tracks of my composition and making it his own in no uncertain terms. I recorded the basic tracks one evening after dinner and it was one of those songs that came out of nowhere and very easily. I think it was much more work for Michel because there was not enough space in the original mix for him to just add his guitar solo. His comment to me when he gave me his final mix was;" I didn't really intend for it to have a country flair to it, that's just how it turned out." My reply to him later was that I didn't intend to record a song meant for him to play on, but as soon as I heard the mix I had that night. I sent it to him immediately with the message that this song is meant for you Michel, if you feel moved to add a guitar part for it, please do so. This very similar to what happened between HG and myself and I'm sure it has happened to some of you who are listening now. I intend to ask Marc Roberge if there any mention of this in music literature. OK enough then, please enjoy your listen and feel free to share if you feel moved to. Thanks from Michel and myself for your time!!! This acoustic rock song was inspired by a "Top 10 List" of special interest groups who influence decision making in Washington and begs the question; Who represents the children? My heart felt thanks to all of you Fandalism alumni for your support, encouragement , inspiration and most of all kindness. Hope you enjoy your listen!!

Hello my friends on Fandalism and beyond. Marc Roberge shared a video of him playing live several years ago at a party and at the time I didn't realize I had access to some vintage footage from my "Traveller" band days that are on youtube via Micheal Schwartz. You have heard me speak of this band in my comments and here is a video, none of us remember doing, performing a tune I wrote called The DeBracck of The Delaware Bay.....eventually just called Delaware Bay. Hope you enjoy this look back with me!!

Kick Ass Ladies is a song from HG Schmitz with Danny Roffe joining on guitar. HG has been generous enough to allow me to make public this version on which I have the pleasure and honor to add a vocal track which I was inspired to do one afternoon a few weeks back. The first few times I heard this song I was totally blown away by the power and energy of the music with both of these great guitarists hammering away at the listener with everything they had. However, on that afternoon it was as if a path through a darkened wood had suddenly been lit and I could see/hear right where the vocal could go. It is without question a great honor to share in this song with HG and Danny and present to you the results of that afternoon. Thank you HG for being so kind. Please enjoy your listen. HG Schmitz- song idea, all other instruments, arrangement, mix and mastering Danny Roffe- solo guitar Mel Donovan- lyrics and vocals Lyrics You see her coming, coming down the street Just the kind of woman you'll never meet That doesn't stop you from wanting her You can't even find the right words Then she's passing right by you Catching every eye around you Anywhere she goes people stop and stare Some kind of static in the air Kick ass lady You can't afford the clothes she wears You can't afford to fix her hair You can't afford to put that smile on her face You can't afford to take her any place Still you want, want, want her Though you'll never, ever have her Want to be her dream man But you know you can't And it makes you mad Ummmm jeez, if only I see her coming back up the street I can't even think or speak I lie awake at night in my bed Images of her dancing in my head A kick-ass lady and that's no lie If she touched me I think I'd die I can't help myself can't give up on this dream No matter how hopeless it may seem A kick-ass lady She's just a kick-ass, kick-ass lady Somebody save me Somebody help me Somebody save me PLEASE
