"Strolling By The Sea" lyrics by Alan Jones composition; performed by just about every musician i... read moren the world!! :-) I had been jamming to this standard blues tune simply because I enjoyed playing it and one day I decided to record it and see if I could find some folks to add their creativity to it. Alan (Stig) came to mind immediately for the lead vox and I asked if he was interested in writing the lyrics and singing the tune. I was happy to get his positive response! I thought of Paul for drums because I owed him a song and I thought he would be the right drummer for this tune and I'm glad he came aboard as well. Who else to ask for guitar than the blues man himself, Franck. I was pretty sure he couldn't resist an original blues song and sure enough, luckily, he couldn't. I thought there would be room for some harp and Lars has posted a couple of tunes recently with his harp play included, so I asked him to join in as well and it is a pleasure to have him as always. Ahhh now for bass. I had noticed that Don Borgal had become quite distanced from Fando and thought he might like to join with this tune and was very happy to receive his positive response! I added some backing vocals as well as the rhythm guitar we built the song up from. I had a feeling that this would be a cool blending of personalities and styles and I'll let you be the judge of that for yourselves. As for me, I am truly thankful for each of these guys adding their own personal creative spirits to a very standard type tune, that developed it's own likable feeling!! We hope you enjoy and as always.................THANKS FOR LISTENING!

"Ukelele Exorcism" by Mark Taylor with Mel Donovan Greetings to all Fando friends and listeners. Today I am pleased to share an instrumental tune composed by Mark on ukulele some months ago. The first night I heard this I was moved to add something I heard in my head while listening. It is the deeper guitar part on this mix, with some refinements done. I sent a sample mix to Mark and asked if it was ok to work with the tune. After some time passed he gave me the green light and recently I found time to spend playing with it. In keeping with the title and mood of the song, it was obvious that photos from THE EXORCIST would be fitting, so I used them for the video. It is always a pleasure to play with Mark's compositions and I thank him for this opportunity. We BOTH thank You for listening!! WARNING; If it is dark where you are, turn the lights up!! :-)

"Chicago" by Graham Nash a cover Doc; keys and instrument pre-mix Claude: song choice, chorus vocals in pre-mix Federico; drums Angelo: bass Joan: chorus and backing vocals Mel: lead, chorus & backing vocals, final mixing video editing First off, my thanks to all the members of this project for such great work by each and to Claude for suggesting this tune to begin with. It is certainly timely considering the presidential election soon to be held here in the states. This video footage is historical newsreel and not acting. It is quite shocking to see the vicious nature of the attack on the protesters and to realize this happened in our country, not that many years ago because of people speaking out against the Viet Nam war. One of our current candidates has actually encouraged violence against hecklers at his rallies in recent months. Nash wrote this song to his fellow bandmates, Crosby, Stills and Young in hopes they would join with him to sing at the protests. There were 8 people arrested and charged with inciting a riot and Bobby Seals was literally tied up and gaged at the trial because he would not sit quiet during the proceedings. It was decided to try him as a separate case and so The Chicago Seven was the name tag pinned to the others. This was a very dark time in our countries history and one we should never want to go back to. Thanks Doc for the excellent pre-mixed tracks you sent to me to work with. Thank you Joan for all the effort you put into blending your vocals to match up with Claudes and mine. And THANK YOU for listening again here. There was a little mix up in communication as to the posting on Sunday.

I think this video is even better than the earlier one and that is as it should be!! THANK YOU Michel for this gift you gave to me. I love this song and I'm only too happy to share it again! "Half Moon Bay" by Jeff Larson Performed by Mel Donovan Hello Fando friends far and wide. Back in April, Michela made me aware of this beautiful tune by Jeff and I loved it from the very first listen. We decided to do a rendition of it and I set about recording the instruments. I ran into trouble discerning some of the chords and Jeff was kind enough to send them to Michela along with the chord diagrams we are all familiar with. As many of you already know, Major 7th and major 9th chords can be a bit tricky and his message was a welcome relief. On the production here you are about to hear, are the exact instrument tracks I sent to Michela some weeks ago which she decided did not have the exact feel she wanted and so she did a version with Mark and War which is posted on her Fando page. I wasn't about to let all the time I had invested in the song go to waste, so I have added all the vocals along with those tracks for my own version of Jeff's song. It is a beautiful song and certainly more than one or two versions are possible while keeping that core beauty intact. My thanks to Michela for making me aware of this tune and I hope everyone enjoys their listen. Thanks for your support and sharing your music with us all. Also, Lars JJ was kind enough to let me use his video of the moon and a few of his photos that are all very nice indeed!! Thanks Lars!! And now, on with the show!!! Cheers!

"Mirror Mirror" by Mel Donovan with Kent Taylor, Brice Cross & James Noble We would like to dedicate this rock/ funk tune to Mr. funkman himself, Mr. HG Schmitz! He is known far and wide around the globe for his ability to create compositions in pretty much in any genre of music. I on the other hand, have about as much funk as an old, chunky bottle of milk. But not to worry! To the rescue comes Kentavious, Bricester and the nobleman James, to add just a twist of that funkyness to my basic rock tune. HG my friend, if you had not been so patient with me when you were teaching me the ropes of moving files and all the fun stuff we all take for granted, I may not have lasted on Fando. THAT would have been a real bummer!! So thanks from the four of us for all the great collabs and great music you have created with us and with Hilde of course! We hope you enjoy the tune! We thank you all for coming by for a listen and your comments are welcmed and sharing is indeed caring!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

"On Butterfly Wings" by Mel Donovan and Janice Zamb with Stephen Jones on guitar Sometimes songs come out of nowhere it seem to almost write themselves and this tune is one of them. I recorded the basic tracks of this tune the day after I first started playing it and because of a conversation I had with Janice about books we have read, the thought to send it to her for lyrical consideration came instantly. So , I sent that first recording to her and in the process the thought crossed my mind that this would be a good tune for Steve's guitar play and I mentioned that to Janice. As usual, I held my breath waiting for their responses and thankfully they replied in the positive. It isn't often that creative spirits combine this quickly and the results you are about to hear took less than 2 weeks to come together. Janice found the butterfly video clip and it fit almost perfectly into the timing of the song. I thank Janice for writing lyrics that match the feel of the music to a "T" and also to Steve for doing such a wonderful guitar play. We THANK YOU for having a listen. Please relax, use headphones if they are handy and enjoy our tune. ON BUTTERFLY WINGS Sometimes (now and then) I fantasize my body’s a cocoon A haven for my heart A shelter from life’s wounds And when I close my eyes for the very last (final) time A light shines from within I know it’s not the end As I see my spirit rise on butterfly wings Oh, I’m flying high on butterfly wings Onward to infinity far beyond the stars Twirling in the solar wind I think I could touch Mars Gliding on butterfly wings casting rainbows in the sky Like floating in a dream on my spirit butterfly CHORUS Ohh-ohhh, my spirit flies high on butterfly wings Ohh-ohhh, I’m flying high on my butterfly wings Bridge Sometimes (now and then) I fantasize my body’s a cocoon A haven for my heart A shelter from life’s wounds And when I close my eyes for the final time A light shines from within and I know it’s not the end As I see my spirit rise on butterfly wings Ohh, I’m flying high on my butterfly wings Flying high on butterfly wings ©2016 Janice Zamb

"The Way I Care" by Leila Licks and Mel Donovan Sometimes in life you are lucky enough to meet extraordinary people, ones that have gone through the fires of hell by no fault of their own and come out the other side stronger in spirit and light, instead of the darkness of despair that no one could blame them for feeling. I have been very fortunate in that I have met a few of these people and today it is my honor and pleasure to share with you a tune co-written by Leila, who by all means is certainly one of these. In addition to being a person of light and hope to others who have had similar negative life experiences, Leila also has a fantastic voice, as you will soon hear on our second co-written tune, the first being "The Beauty Of Life" (http://fandalism.com/themelvinator/ Rk) found here if you are interested later. Also here are the links for Leila's Fando page and RverbNation site: http://fandalism.com/leilalicks https://www.reverbnation.com/leilalicks and last but not least, the cdbaby link to download this song, if you so wish; http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/melvindonovan Leila has a unique style of her own and I encourage you to visit her at her sites to find so much more musical fare! So, on with the show, hear now the marvelous voice of Leila singing with the accompaniment of my 12-string composition. We certainly hope you enjoy your listen and thank you for very much for doing so in the first place.

Traveller covering You're All I've Got Tonight I'd like to dedicate this to Jim Jenkins, Andy and Channon because when I first heard some of their early recordings the influence of The Cars and especially The Talking Heads was quite evident to me and when I came across these tracks while reviewing the Traveller recordings, I thought these guys in particular might enjoy these songs. There is a half of "You're All I've Got Tonight" followed by "The Dangerous Type". We were in full "bar-band" mode by the time of this recording in a local bar called The Anvil Inn. Anyways....hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!!

"The DuBracck Of The Delaware Bay" by Mel Donovan recorded by Traveller @ Kjem Studios 9-18-1983 This is one of the 4 original tunes we recorded in the studio on their 24 track tape machine. As many of you know, I have been busy saving these ancient recording from reel to reels and cassettes that Ken Sutton had saved from back in the day. I have had a couple of requests for this tune and it is my pleasure to share it now. Pierre kind of moved me in this direction with a photo he shared recently and thank you for that my friend. I am not really a sailor, but did love having the chance of going out on a very nice sailboat owned by a friend of ours from back when we were still playing live gigs!! He also let me take the helm while we were heading into dock and that is where the photo of me doing so came from. Here are the lyrics and this is a summer type song, so now is a good time to share it. Thanks for listening and commenting, please enjoy! As I was walking down in Wilmington one fine day I saw a pretty little girl just a smile my way She asked me if perhaps I'd made some plans to stay I said no, no, I'm headed for the Delaware Bay And with that, I just smiled and turned away And set a course for the Delaware Bay And as I sat on my hotel balcony chair I heard this musical laughter floating through the air And I looked down to the beach so far below There was that pretty little girl I wanted to know And with that, I just smiled and turned away And set a course for the Delaware Bay (chorus) A la la la the DuBracck in the Delaware Bay And on the next day I took a walk down to the shore Little did I know I'd never see the sky any more When I got to the bow of the ship that girl was there She was laughing as if she didn't have a care And with that, she just smiled and turned away And left me at the bottom of the Delaware Bay Chorus (C) 2015

"The Preacher" by Lars JJ and Mel Donovan with War Vandal Lars has inspired me again with another of his earthy guitar compositions and was generous enough to let me run with it. I added an electric guitar track to is berytone and acoustic guitar tracks and then wrote the lyrics based on a book I had just finished reading. After adding the vocal tracks Lars and I decided we needed drums and we turned to War for his help. He was kind enough to agree and added drums and some other percussion and as an after thought, added a guitar track he reversed and it seemed to be a perfect fit with the rest of the tune. I added a bass part last of all and had the pleasure of doing the mixing and mastering. We still needed a video and War once again came through with a very fitting contribution. My heart felt thanks to Lars for having an open mind in regards to his composition and to War for all the creative spirit he added to this project. We hope you all enjoy and we thank you for listening. Here are the lyrics: He rode in on the northern wind Bringing death his only friend The sun was blotted from the sky Swirling dust blinding every eye An evil omen carried in on the wind that day A childhood that was no good His momma didn't do what mommas should A father that he never knew A twisted mind that twisted more as he grew A fantasy taking hold Believing he became the left hand of God Taking lives without remorse Always in the right, of course A code of honor of his own Look into his eyes and you would sware there's no one home They call him the Preacher The Preacher was his name They call him the Preacher People prayed when he came Now sheriff Jack Reacher Crossed his path by fate He swore he would get him If it's the last thing that he ever does they call him the sheriff Sherriff Jack Reacher He sent the Preacher on his way To meet his Maker on that day

"Only One More Night" by Mel Donovan Featuring; Joan Berly on vocals Kent Taylor on drums Tedd VanWagner on lapsteel and bass Thanks to each of these talented artists we are finally able to bring a final version of this tune that satisfies my original vision for the song. It began with an invite to Laney Greynolds to do a collab back on New Year's Day, 2015. When she replied that she thought that would be fun the saga of this tune began. The idea of singing on a tune with Laney gave me all the inspiration I needed to get to writing something that would work with a male and female vocalist singing lead. I came up with the idea of using the character Alex Cross from a series of novels by James Patterson and the general story of how his job as the best detective in the U.S. affected his life with his wife. They are both very much in love and have children. After coming up with the arrangement and basic tracks, I sent an invite to Kent, asking if he would be kind enough to help out with the drums and thankfully he responded in the positive. His play is perfect for the song and I thank you Mr. Kent. Next I sent a mix of those tracks to Tedd and asked if he could add a slide intro and outro to the song. Thank you Mr. Tedd for such a fitting intro and outro!! Then the original artist to add bass could not come on board, so I went back to Tedd and thankfully he agreed to add the bass and I love what he came up with! All this time I was staying in touch with Laney as the song developed and there were problems coming to light that we on Fandalism don't even consider any more, we are so used to just sending and receiving tracks. Laney and JC do all their recording in the studio, so I could not just send Laney a mix to sing with and then their concert schedule and studio schedules took up all of her time. I turned to a few of our Fando female vocalists, but none seemed to have the fire of desire to do the tune............until I sent Joan the updated mix with all the parts except the female vocal tracks. Joan agreed to sing the tune, but because of issues with her breathing, this was delayed for almost a year now. In any case, thanks to these fine artists, we can now share the tune with all of you. We thank you for taking time to listen and hope you enjoy what you hear. The video features Veronica dancing and was very kindly provided by??????? I will let him reveal himself, if he so desires!

When Doc sent me the files to add my sing to, I was absolutely blown away by the first class quality of their tracks. These guys are pros for a reason and it shows in all the music they post. "Raised On Love" by Justin Hayward a cover project by; Jenni Chang, Joan Berly, Gabi Gaines, Marc Roberge, Bob Clements and Mel Donovan I came across this video posted on YT by Moody Jill quite by accident and from the first time I watched and listened I loved the feel of this song. My mind went to Jenni because of the qualities of her voice and I sent her my idea and she accepted the invitation to help out with the vocals. I then turned to Marc Roberge for the drums once again and he provided just the right sound as well as vocal harmonies. My grand daughter happened into my "studio" while I was working with the tune and kept asking me questions about playing guitar when the little light bulb in my head blinked on and I asked her if she would like to sing along with us on the chorus. She said YES of course and was doing her diva act while recording, but her track speaks for itself! (left channel with Jenni on chorus). Joan has been working to get her voice back after some medical issues and felt strong enough to help us out on this tune and did a great job of filling out the vocals. Bob had made a comment on FB in regards to something I posted about this project and I extended an invite to him on the spur of the moment and to my pleasant surprise he not only knew the song, but loved it as well and so he agreed to join in with the group sing. It was another very pleasant collaborative experience and I thank each of the members for the spirit they put into their tracks. It was my pleasure and joy to play with each of you and put the puzzle pieces together........,always fun to do as long as everything is in sync!! Lol Thanks ladies and gents. And now without any further ado, here is "Raised On Love".Whoops.....one more thing; last night as I began working on the video, I was somehow sent to a Vimeo page with the video we used as a guide from YT on it. Further, Moody Jill was the name on the page and it showed a free download option. Having no clue what I wanted to do, I figured why not and downloaded her video with the intent to switch our soundtrack for the Justin Hayward soundtrack she used. I left a comment on her YT page about what I was doing and this morning there was a message from her saying; "sure, go ahead and use it." I was both very surprised to see such a quick response and also very relieved. Apparently, Moody Jill was raised on love. Thank you Jill. Ok....please enjoy!!

"Isn't It A Pity" by George Harrison A cover by Kent Taylor, Bob Clements and Mel WAIT!!! WAIT!... read more!!! WAIT!!! here is Kent's page:http://fandalism.com/kentavious and here is Bob's link;http://fandalism.com/bobbobbob Don't push play yet!!This cover came about truly by accident, let me explain. I was fooling around on guitar one day and started playing a D major chord with the G flat played on the low E string and an open E on the high E string finger picking style. I really liked this sound, so I at the spur of the moment, I moved all of my fingers down a 1/2 step and this sounded very cool. I then followed it down to an E-minor and was thinking that this would make for a nice song. So I started to hum the melody that worked with this chord progression and suddenly realized it was without a doubt, "Isn't It A Pity". This bummed me out just a bit, but then I decided what the hell, I might as well use it and do the cover. I had been wanting to do another tune with Kent for quite some time and this seemed like the perfect opportunity because his soulful voice would work perfectly with the subject matter of the song, so I sent him the idea and thankfully he agreed to sing on the song as well. While waiting for Kent to get over the flu etc....etc.... the thought occurred that we would need some slide guitar and my mind turned to Bob Clements because of his well know love of The Beatles and how very close some of his songs sound like Harrison might have written them. I contacted Bob and he also agreed to add the slide guitar. My heart felt thanks go to both of these excellent artists and good friends, it was certainly my pleasure to work with you guys!!!!! OK......enough said! We truly hope you enjoy our rendition and we thank you for taking the time to listen. "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas and The Papas A cover by Michela Vazzana, War Vandal and Mel Donovan First and foremost I want to thank Michela and War for allowing me to add my vocal harmonies to their great tracks. My hat goes off to War, he nailed the sound and play of the instruments and added his own version of a guitar solo in place of the flute, that is dynamite. Michela's voice is so right for this song that even after listening to it a hundred times while adding my harmonies, I never grew tired of hearing it, in fact, I love the song even more so!! Great job by both of you!!! My initial idea was to sing along with this to find out how well my voice would blend with Michela's and I am very happy with the results and that she is pleased as well. This will allow us to explore other tunes in the future and this is something I have been trying to do for a few years now. So, once again, here is Michela's and War's rendition of "California Dreamin' " with my vocals added to their tracks. Please enjoy your listen and feel free to share if you feel so inclined!! Thanks for listening!!!

"Your Wildest Dreams" by The Moody Blues A rendition by Doc, Claude, Angelo and Mel I ran into Doc on FB last week and we got to talking about things and life in general and of course music came up and I mentioned two Moody Blues tunes that I love. One we used to play in Traveller, called "The Voice". The other was too difficult for us to perform live called "Your Wildest Dreams", so we never did that tune, even though that is probably my #1 favorite.....maybe tied with "Tuesday Afternoon"!! ;-)) So we talked about doing "The Voice" in the future and a short time later I get an e-mail from Doc with the tracks for "Your Wildest Dreams"!!!!!!!!! I was shocked and when I listened I was blown away by what I heard. Here now are those tracks with my vocals added. Doc hit me with another shot by sending the tracks for "The Voice" soon after. That tune will come to Fando in the near future. We hope you enjoy our play here and I hope you love the video as much as I do!! Thank you for listening and please feel free to share. Cheers! Doc, CLaude and Angelo for the pleasure of playing with true talents and Doc!! What can I say----YOU ARE THE DOC!!!! PLease enjoy your listen!!

"Voices In The Sky" by The Moody Blues A cover by Kristen Rurouni (Taylor), Mark Taylor and Mel Donovan After hearing several of Mark's posts of him and his daughter performing together, the idea occurred to me that it would be a real pleasure to try doing a cover of this Moody Blues classic. So I sent Mark a message with the idea to see what Kristen and his feelings were in regards to this. Thankfully they were both up for giving it a shot and here now are the results of our efforts. I have frequently played this song to myself because I have always liked the feel of the tune. It was a real inspiration to have the delightful flute track from Kristen and Mark's steady finger picking track to add the vocals and other instruments to. My heart felt thanks to you both for making this rendition possible and the pleasure it was singing along with with you!! Thank you for listening.

"One Life" Herve Southman; composition & piano Mel Donovan; lyrics, vocals & guitar Hello Fando alumni and friends. First let me begin by thanking Herve for giving me the honor and the pleasure of adding my creative spirit to one of his always moving compositions. He is well known for his fantastic touch on keys and the feelings this enlicits from his listeners. I am always moved by his play and it was very much true with his tender expressions on this tune. Herve was generous enough to give me total freedom of what I wanted to add to this or even nothing at all!! Of course, nothing at all was not an option from my point of view! ;-)) It took a few weeks of just listening before the thoughts and words began to solidify in my mind, the feelings were there from the first listen. So, here now is what Herve's play brought forth from deep within me. We thank you for listening and hope you enjoy our shared creativity. Lyrics:"One Life" Follow your dreams follow your dreams One life, only one life Passing us by, ever so swiftly Never want to let it go Sunrise, in the morning skies The glistening dew on the grass prompting me to ask oh why, oh why must we all fade away While there is still time follow your dreams Smell the flowers too See the spakle in your childen's eye Hear their laughter And their cries Always keep them in your heart Never let them slip away The colors of the leaves in fall just before they take flight The feel of the warm sun on my skin such a delight The smell of wood smoke carried on the breeze on a deep and dark, cold winter's night These are some of my favorite things and I'll miss them so when it's time to go March 1, 2016

Yes It Is_If I Needed Someone (The Beatles) - RT's V.O.E.B. 9 February 2016 "Yes It Is"/ "If I Needed" The Beatles a cover project created by Richard Trudeau with: Bill Watkins on bass and vocals, Mark Taylor on guitar and Mel Donovan on guitars and vocals. Richard certainly knows how to plan and produce a project, one only need revisit The Christmas Project to be reminded of what a massive under taking that was and the results are outstanding. On this mini-project in comparison, he once again is the maestro and leads the three of us down the path of righteousness to what for us is the promised land......a cover of our favorite group of all time, that in my opinion is the best results I have ever been involved in. Richard also sings the lead vocals, played guitar, added the percussion, did the mixing and mastering. Many of you are well aware of my love of harmonies and the magic he did with our vocal tracks to bring out these rich harmonies melts my heart. We thank you all for your support andd we hope you enjoy your listen as much as we enjoyed doing this project together. My deepest gratitude to Richard, Bill and Mark for inviting me to share in this adventure and be assured gentlemen you have made my life long dream of doing justice to the band that changed my life forever, come true.Ok.......soooooooo here from Liverpool England......are The..........whoops, that's not right!! hehe Enjoy!! Please feel free to share!! ;-))

Hello all. Today it is my pleasure to share another co-written song by Lars JJ and me. Lars posted his guitar tracks and as soon as I heard them I liked the vibe and sound of the tune. Kind of a CSN type vibe. So I asked him if I could play with it and see what would develop. The repeating rhythm became relentless to my mind and that made me think of the passing of time. Anyways, here are the results and because of all the trouble with my p/c I asked Lars if he would be able to do a video. I was very happily surprised by the results of his efforts and I'm glad it worked out this way! We thank you for listening and watching and please feel fee to share!!

"Our House" a cover by Annemiek, Marc, Madison,Jony and Mel What a pleasure it is to share this first time collaboration with Madison and Jony and my two dear friends Annemiek and Marc. Annemiek suggested this tune and I was all for it as long as she provided the piano play, which she did, at which time Jony showed interest in doing this tune as well. I contacted him and asked if he would care to join in and he agreed. I asked Marc if he would add drums and he was kind enough to oblige. Finally, we needed someone for Nash's high harmonies and I thought of how nice Madison's voice sounded and so sent her an invite. She replied that she was willing, but had not sang harmonies before. Suffice it to say, she stuck to her guns and worked hard at it and was able to learn to sing in harmony and here are the results. We all appreciate you already listening on the previous posting of this tune and I thank each of these artisits for their fantastic natures and results!! Please enjoy. Thank you for listening!

"Lonely People" by America a cover by Michela, Annemiek, War, Tony and Mel Michela and I agreed to do a collaboration together several months ago and over time I realized how much she liked America and "Lonely People" came to my mind because of how much I always liked that tune. I suggested we try it and just keep it simple with my guitars and her vocals and Michela agreed. I began to learn the song and in the process became aware of how important the bass and piano were to the feel of the song and so added the bass and then reached out to Annemiek to see if she would be willing to add the piano. Thankfully she accepted the invitation and then of course we needed drums, so Michela contacted War and he also accepted and supplied them.Michela and Tony have worked on several tunes together and she felt that a violin solo would work well in the song and so asked him to play one. Michela took care of all the vocals and did the production aspects of the project and quite frankly I was more than just a little pleased with the results! So here now, is our rendition of this AMERICA classic. We hope you enjoy your listen!

"Rocky Mountain High" a cover by Mel Donovan I would like to dedicate this rendition to Jenn and Jim out in Colorado...my brother and sister in law and to Lori Oz for the mountain high last year in Vermont. Because of the snowstorm I have a rare Saturday off....thank God because I need a day off too!! Anyways, at first I had planned to just sit down and record a live version of this, but when i began to research the song, I discovered there was more to it than meets the eye and my respect for John Denver's talents went up a few more notches in the process. This tune has been my therapy to recover from my hard work and it became a real challenge to get the harmonies to a satisfactory level. I just finished mixing "Our House" on which Madison Mueller and Jony Tomlin joined me on vocals, with Annemeik on piano and Marc on drums. Had I known the quality of the blend of our voices, I would have suggested that the three of us attempt this song together as well, but I already invested quite a bit of time into getting it to this point and oh well, hopefully there will be other opportunities in the future. For now then, here is my solo rendition of "Rocky Mountain High". And the snow is still coming down hard!! Thank you for taking time to listen and please feel free to share if you enjoy this.

Elanor Rigby Birthday Doc 2015 Doc had just finished recording "Elanor Rigby" just before I asked him about trying a cover of it. To my amazement, he offered to let me do a sing to it, which at first i turned down and let go of the idea. A day or two later I awake to 3 messages from Doc including a very kind message and the soundtrack without the lead vocal and a link to the video. I moved it to my recorder and experimented with it off and on over these past days. Finally tonight I did a couple of tracks that were in the ballpark at least and wanted to celebrate Doc's birthday by surprising him with these results!! The music and vocals that Doc had mixed are excellent as is his specialty!! THANK YOU DOC for the pleasure of working with you and the V5 on this and on our other common projects this past year!! You have a heart of gold Doc!! Happy Birthday!!

"I've Been Busy" by Mark Taylor with Pierre Rosique and Mel Donovan Happy Holidays to everyone and I think the title probably fits just about all of you out there in Fandoland and beyond. Mark posted his ukulele composition of this tune a few weeks ago and on my first listen to it I could hear other potential instrument playing along with it, so I sent a request to him asking if I could experiment with it and see what would develop. This inspiration was quite similar to what happened when I heard his "Fairy Dust" post several months ago. Mark was kind enough to let me go at it and so I did, adding an electric guitar line, which I originally thought would be a cello part, but.....????? Also right from the beginning I thought there was a potential for our good friend Pierre to play some of his wonderful synth lines along with this and I sent him an invite stating just that. Fortunately, he replied he would be interested in hearing what develops and asked that I send him a mix when I was done adding to the original ukulele tracks. This I did last week and what you will hear now is the results of us combining our creative spirits with Mark's wonderful original composition!! My heart felt thanks to both of these excellent musicians and fine human beings, for the pleasure I have gotten from playing with them on this very lively tune! We hope that everyone has a safe and very enjoyable holiday season with friends and family. Thank all of you for listening, commenting and sharing if you feel moved to do so. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!! 12/15/15

Another week has come and gone and during that time we were able to get our tracks together and slap a video together, so that we could present it to you by today. Well, there may have been just a little more effort put into it than that, but we each enjoyed doing "Little Wing" so much that this seemed like all pleasure and no work at all!! I want to thank my band mates here for providing such high quality tracks to blend together on this project! You all know Brice, Marc and Tedd are excellent musicians and I can tell you they are fine people as well. I always appreciate their candor and creative ideas and the timeliness in doing their play for a project. We each thank YOU for listening and sharing in our joy of music!! "Alternatives" an original tune by Mel Donovan Featuring Herve Southman on piano andMarc Roberge... read more on drums It is with great pleasure that I present this tune today after many months of waiting. I wrote and recorded this solo back in 2012 and therefore played the piano and synth drums myself back then, but never posted the song because I really wanted a female vocalist singing the high harmony. In the beginning of this year I sent a copy of the song and an invitation to Herve asking if he would be kind enough to play the piano for it, including doing a piano intro. As you will hear now, Herve did so and his intro encompasses all the emotion of the entire song. I was spell bound by what he had created, but not at all surprised! I also was sure that an upgrade was possible with the drums and so, sent an invitation to Marc, who has joined me on a number of projects and always delivers quality play regardless of which instrument or vocal is needed. For sure, my heart felt gratitude is extended to these two excellent artists!! As I mentioned, I had hoped to have a female vocalist join me on the sing for this, seeing how the subject is something that both males and females face at some point in their lives, but none stepped up to the plate, so I sang the harmony myself as I did in the earlier recording. It was my intent from the beginning, that this be a spoof of "love song", which is why the bridge is such a change of character compared to the rest of the song. But when I added the last verse, it seems the song took on quite a serious meaning and so I went with that. Thanks again to Herve and Marco for their creative efforts on this tune! They certainly lifted the song from it's original level. Thank you for listening!!

"Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix covered by Cross, Roberge, VanWagner and Donovan Hello friends!! It i... read mores with great pleasure that I am able to share with you today, a collaboration that came about in an cool and unusual way and had a momentum of it's own that surprised even us, the participants!! Lol It dawned on me one day that I hadn't heard Brice play any Hendrix songs, so I asked him if he would be interested in trying one some time. He replied in the affirmative and I suggested "Little Wing" because I always loved singing along with that tune when we used to listen to his album, when it was first released. He mentioned one of his band mates used to play that tune very well and said "sure, let's do it." It just so happens that Tedd, who has been off the radar for some time up to this point, makes a comment on Brice's page as we are discussing this. So, I thought, what the heck, I'll ask Tedd if he would like to play bass with us. I went to my e-mails and sent him the invite, not expecting a positive response really. I went back to Brice's post and who should happen to be making the next comment or so, other than Mr. Marco, who has been kind enough to add drums to a number of projects I have started. So again, I figure what the heck...I'll see if he has time and the desire to add drums to this tune. I go back to my e-mails to send the invite and Tedd has written back that he would like to join the party!! Big smiles at this point. So I sent an invite to Marc and went to bed, I think. It was already late. Obviously by the title, you can guess that Marc also agreed to join in. The spirit and positive energy felt between us was such that all the instrument tracks were done and ready for mixing within a weeks time. I think all of us can relate to just how unusual that is! Lol I have thank these guys over and over again for their efforts here and do so again right now!! Thank you Brice, Marc and Tedd for making this rendition possible. You each are fantastic artists and great people, it is an honor and a pleasure to play with you!! Ok folks, time to launch this bird out of the nest. Please enjoy your listen and feel free to share!! Thank YOU fpr listening!!

A composition by Mel Don... read moreovan featuring HG Schmitz (a.k.a.Birthday Boy), Pierre Rosique and James Noble There is a well know saying that what goes around, comes around and so it is now your turn HG. We dedicate this final version to you on your birthday, which is only fitting because you do this for so many other Fando friends. I sent this tune to you quite some time ago and you reacted quite quickly to it, which is usually a good sign with you. You added the bass and drums within a couple of days and then it went into limbo because I wanted to hear what Pierre's and James' added creativity would do for the tune. Several "real life" activities intervened and so it is now just getting done in time for today!! We all wish you the happiest of birthdays HG, with many more to come!! So now our friend, drink your morning coffee and enjoy the fruits of your summer labor. Hilde and I have been busy on this for a while and I love the video she made. Pierre was very kind to make a short video clip for the occasion and James went to extra efforts to send you salutations! Enjoy your day Hans!!

"The Weight" by The Band a cover by Sam, Brice, Mauricio, Doc and Mel It is my pleasure today, to share with you a project that began back in July and come to full fruition with the video, just last night. Mauricio suggested that Doc, me and him do this tune and take turns doing the verses and singing the choruses together. Doc and I agreed that it sounded like a fun project, so I offered to work on the music for the tune. Upon listening to the original, I found that it would be necessary to have keyboards for the tune and so I asked Sam if he would be willing to help out. He responded that he would if, he could handle getting all the instruments done and do the production and MG,Doc and I could sort out and do the vocals. Of course I was more than happy with this idea and so Sam asked Brice for help with the guitar fills and went on to do all the other instruments. Once this was finished, Sam sent a mix to us to use for adding the vocals to. It turned out there are 5 verses so there was no even way to distribute them. Also, the choruses which sound so simple when you hear the final version, were a lot trickier than we suspected because of the timing. MG and I worked on the vocals while Doc was on tour and when he came back, he listened to a sample premix and did his vocal track. Sam took our separate vocal tracks, added them with the instruments and mastered for the version you are about to hear. My thanks to these guys for their heart felt efforts and putting up with all my update e-mails. We all thank YOU for listening. Just a side note here. One of the members of The Band lived near Nazereth Pennsylvania, where Martin guitars are made. I drive close by to this town on my way to ski at Blue Mountain each winter. As for the meaning of the lyrics; there are a number of interpretations and here is a link if you would like to look into it. Very interesting read, if you have time;http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=420 Alrighty then.......on with the show!!!!!

"Breathe" by Ken Sutton with Mel Donovan and Carolyn Hello friends and visitor's of Fandalism!... read more The Arden Fair was this past weekend and Carolyn with the help of many friends kept the tradition that Ken and she started several years ago, by having an after the fair party. Ken was missed for sure, but in our thoughts as we had very pleasant evening of food and live music. Thank you Carolyn for such a wonderful evening! In light of this, I felt it is time to share another gem of Ken's creation and so present it here for your listening pleasure. Ken composed the intro and played it on his Korg synth, which by the way, has a manual as thick as a telephone directory and we never really learned how to use it to it's full capacity, but, we did learn enough for him to play the piano, the sax part and drum programs and I played the chimes on it. At one point he actually asked me if I thought we should leave the piano intro out!! I was like.....huh???? NO WAY!! Ken wrote the lyrics, sang lead and high harmonies and I played rhythm guitar, sang mid-harmonies and handled the engineering and production chores. Carolyn joined in with the radio DJ part which helps set the mood so well. She had to put up with all the noise we made during these recordings as well as our practice sessions with John for our D.O.S. trio performances. Lucky for her we didn't have a drummer too!! hehe Thank you Carloyn for being who you are!! OK....so sit back and relax and let's get away!!! Thank you for listening and feel free to share!!

"Fairy Dust" by Mark Taylor and Mel Donovan Hello our Fando friends and visitors! Today I am honored to post another collaboration with Mark Taylor on a composition he posted with just his guitar using his now, semi-famous, spider capo! The tune moved me from the very first time I heard it and I sent a request to Mark, asking if it was alright to try and add some vocals to his guitar play. Thankfully, he replied in the affirmative and here are the results. I put together the video, using the best photos I could find to match the story line of the song and I apologize to you history buffs out there for the mix and match of time eras and army colors. I do not mean to offend anyone, but there was not a lot to choose from. We hope you will enjoy your listen and please feel free to comment and share.

"Evolver" by Mel Donovan with The Beatles Haha!! Thought that might get your attention, but basically most of the lyrics for this tune come straight from the REVOLVER album, so in a sense it is true! Lol I would like to dedicte this tune to my favorite hippy sisters; Hilde and Janice!! Your comments are like rainbows, multi-colored and always positive in a meaningful way and I thank you from me and on behalf ot the other artists here that you grace with your words! ;-)) I also would like to include Bob for his inspiration and his behind the scenes support! Love your music no matter what name you go by my friend. So the name for the tune was inspired by the vibe from the backwards guitar track that led me to the subject for the lyrics. Actually, it was the sound of the first chord that led to the backwards guitar track and made me think of gurus and zen and the Beatles going to India...etc...etc...etc... I'll stop now, it's time to post!! Thanks for listening my friends, I very much appreciate it!!

"Savings For A Rainy Day" by HG Schmitz and Hilde Svendsrud with Mel Donovan. Well time is sure flying by and it has been over two years ago now that HG contacted me in regards to doing some work with "The Circus", one of the very earliest tunes I posted on Fando. He had to take the time to teach me how to send him the files, that is how little I knew at the time. Through his kindness and patience he taught me the ropes of this collaboration stuff and from that point on we did many common projects as you can see from our Fando pages. It has been a while since the last one and I was very pleased to be asked to join in with him and Hilde on our post for today! Not only did I get the chance to sing on one of HG's great compositions, but I had the extra special pleasure of singing with Hilde!!! It is really an honor to work on a tune that is sure to be produced at the highest quality possible and to be part of one of Hilde's videos!! Thank you HG for your friendship and help over time and HILDE!!!! We are finally singing together for real!!! "Going Down" by Franck Szypura and Mel Donovan Many of you know that Franck posted a a jam in open D he did "For Fun" at this link;http://fandalism.com/skylismo/dHUW last Sunday. As soon as I heard it, I felt a desire to play along with what he had done and so asked him if I could do so.Thankfully, he replied in the affirmative and I copied his play directly to my recorder. In the spirit of his original posting, I just jamed along with his track as it was, much like I did with Stig's in The Experiment. Due to the fact Franck was playing freestyle with no click track, it was very tricky to match his play and my tracks are a little sloppy, but this gives it a very live jam feeling in my opinion. I could have sliced and diced his track and made a more formal recording, but that would not match his original intent. My apologies to the drummers out there for what you will hear, if you listen, but on the other hand, you will find that your jobs are not in jeopardy because of me!! Lol My thanks to Franck for being open minded to my suggestion and the pleasure I had playing with him. THANK YOU ALL for listening. The video is from photos off the net. Please enjoy!!

In My Room covered by Doc, Mauricio. & Mel While Doc has been mending from his surgery Mauricio, Sam and I have been working on some tunes for Doc to sing to, since he has limited playing ability. =M= asked in one of his comments if I would like to do something together and I thought of this Beach Boys tune because of the harmonies of course!! lol We asked Doc if he wanted to sing too and the answer is what I have posted here today. I put together a slide show for the video and now we would like to wish Doc a great time performing with the V5, as they have already hit the road!!! I recorded the instruments for this rendition and then the 3 of us went to it on the vocals. Mauricio got the hardest parts-the high harmonies, but came through with flying colors. Doc handled the low ends and I contributed the middle. We hope you enjoy your listen. Thanks for taking the time to listen!! Cheers!

Hello to all visitors near and far. I want to dedicate this song to my co-workers and friends at Pathmark, for truly we all share in the downfall of the company that I have worked in since 1969. Even though we all saw this coming for quite some time, it is still not easy to deal with in reality. We have all witnessed the demise of many companies over the years and the shrinking of the middle class is just now becoming all too real for us. It has been a real pleasure working with and becoming friends with so many folks over the years and you are all good people and a true value to any employer. I pray for the best of outcomes for each and all of us, even though that isn't any part of the company's agenda. I wrote and recorded this song this week while on vacation and post it today, Friday, while I am still off. Best wishes to all my Pathmark friends and thanks to all for listening. "Jam For The Insane" by Simon Paul England with Mel Donovan http://fandalism.com/simonpaulengland1964i... Sunday came and went, but here is a Monday offering that has taken it's good old time getting here, so I guess it is only fitting. The first time I heard Simon's post of this jam I was moved by it and asked him if I could play with it some and see what happens. Thankfully he agreed and sent me the pre-mixed tracks of his two bass parts and the percussion. This was back in Oct. 2013 and I was relatively new to Fando. I added some play and some vocals to this and when I sent it back to Simon, I had unwittingly changed the name of the song on the files and on top of that my sing was pretty awful!! So, Si got a little upset about both and quite understandably so and the song went to the back burner. A short time later, Simon lost a bunch of files and these tracks were included. I still had the original mix he had sent me and the tracks I recorded saved on my laptop, so now almost 2 years later, I recently reviewed them and was moved once again to try and add some instruments to his play. Simon, I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed playing with you. I thank you whole hearted for trusting in me to do a respectable play. To our friends I hope you enjoy your listen. I just decided to add the video this morning and based on the title of the song, it was a no-brainer as to what could work with the tune.

"Lost" by Mel Donovan with Ken Sutton Sunday again already and this week I would like to share another original tune Ken and I recorded together on his Fostex8TRK digital recorder. The date on the file says Feb, 2006 which is hard to believe, but time is flying for sure! In this song we display our displeasure with the way our political system only favors the rich and just too bad for the rest of us. I wrote the lyrics and composition and Ken did a lot of guitar play along with the drum program and backing vocals. Today is the fifth of July and yestereday our nation celebrated the 4th, Independence Day! So although I picked this song to post on a whim, it's relevance seems pretty obvious. Unfortunately, not a whole lot has changed in the 9 years that have passed since we recorded this. Ken passed away this past May, but his spirit lives on in the music we captured in the time we shared before his leaving. Please enjoy your listen and THANK YOU for taking the time to do so. "Lost" lyrics by Mel Donovan Jan. 2006 I don't know why we've gone this way I think that we have been led astray 8 years of war and fear Some say they even think the end is near Please tell me the end of this is near Now we're led by corporate greed Shipping jobs across the seas Who will buy their products when There's no one left who has a dime to spend they're erroding the nation's foundation Oh when oh when will this end We want our country back again So don't forget you work for us Not them! Now special interests take the lead They let the American people bleed They brought this nation to it's knees And got a big fat bonus Yes indeed Someone defends us, won't you please Oh when, oh when, will this end We want our country back again So don't forget you work for us Not THEM You work for us-----NOT them crowd noise No more lies You work for us Stop all war Special thanks to Carolyn for helping with the crowd noise Intro features Rachel Maddow and Walter Cronkite (c) 2012

"Letting Go" by Mel Donovan with Marc Roberge and Brice Cross Hello once again friends and visitors. Today I am happy to share yet another original tune with the combined creative spirits of Brice on guitar and Marc on drums to my guitar and vocals. This tune also was born from a chord pattern and sound that caught my ear, and grew as I heard where to go next after playing with it for a couple of weeks. As you all know, Brice has a great ear for what fills a song needs and does another great play here. Marc has been kind enough to help me out with many different instruments and vocals, that we could almost be in a band together. To both of these guys I repeat publicly what I have said to them privately; I could not get my song to this level of quality without their efforts and I thank them from my heart!! You guys are great!! I am currently blocked from FB because they have suspected my computer has been infected with malware and require that I run a anti malware program of their choice. I am doing so right now because I have no other choice. No Facebook= No Fando. Hope to see you soon!!! "Letting Go" lyrics by Mel Donovan Oh......oh.....hey...hey... Oh.....oooo...hey.....ey....ey... Made up my mind, today Time, to let go Why look for sun In the falling snow Can't expect them to come If they want to go Ohh.....ooo.......letting go Time has come to go, with the flow Like a balloon, just climb on board Don't need these desires, any more Just cast them over the side And rise And glide There is no sense in carrying All these wants and wishes Not likely to come true, Any way The time has come for letting go Why look for the sun, in the falling snow Can't expect them to come If they want to go Going to leave it all behind And fly............and fly

"Waiting" acoustic version by Mel Donovan It seems to be dedication season in Fandoland and it is only fitting that I dedicate this song to a beautiful lady and person, whose passion for life is truly amazing.....Ms. Lori Oz. Lori I thank you whole hearted for sharing your creative talents and wonderful voice with me on our common works, but even more importantly, your honesty, candor, encouragement, kind words, friendship and inspiration you give to me freely. In a general sense, this song was partially inspired by you and because of your support and that of some others here and at home, I have the confidence to do this song solo. Thank you for being my friend Lori and I can hardly wait for you to share the studio version of "Here For A Reason" with everyone and I certainly know you will be happy to do so when the time is right. So here now is "Waiting". Two 12-string guitar tracks and two vocal tracks, everything done by me, so there is no one else to give credit to, but on the other hand, no one else to lay blame to either!! Lol Thank you for listening! Please use headphones if it's not too much trouble. ;-))

The Oort Cloud episode 6 Chapter 3 by Pierre Rosique with Cindy Marshall, Richard Trudeau, Jimmy Dean Brooks and Mel Donovan; "The Message and the Destiny" It is my honor and pleasure to share another of Pierre's masterpieces with everyone now that 2 months have already passed since his first posting. It is always a great joy to collaborate and hear how the project coordinator/ producer pulls all the pieces together to create a continuous flow of audio and visual delight. Pierre's ability to do so is second to none and this chapter is certainly proof again of his organizational skills and his keen ear and eye and sensitivity. He also has a way of bringing out the best in the artists that travel on board his ships as any great Captain should. I thank him and my fellow shipmates for making this such a pleasurable experience and look forward to future works from each and all. It hot summer weather around these parts, just right for sitting in the shade and having something for the thirst and a musical trip to embark upon to escape, if only for a while. Thank you Pierre for authorization to fly the shuttle today! Enjoy your holiday! Thank you for listening again to Pierre's magic!

Here is the link for Kai's AWAKE album preview and buy page; https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/awake/id906544498 "War Ghost" by Kai Botak--home version with Mel Donovan Hello my fellow Fandolites and friends... r... read moreead more from around the world!! This is a very special day for me because finally almost 3 years to the day I am able to share with you the very first collaboration I did over the net. This was only possible because HG Schmitz (some of you may know of whom I speak!! Lol) had contacted me in regards to my song "The Circus", which I was only too happy to send him once he taught me how to handle moving music files. I knew absolutely nothing and he kindly walked me through the process until I got it. He was very patient with me and I will never forget this. So by coincidence or davine intervention, Kai sends me a recording of her singing along with her guitar, a song she just wrote after a chance meeting with a war vet who could not sleep and did not want to wake his wife and young daughter. She was moved to write the song immediately and as soon as I heard it, I was moved to ask her permission to add guitar, strings and a vocal harmony. Thankfully she agreed and what I have posted here is the re-mixed and remastered version of those tracks from 3 years ago!! Kai has done a studio version of this song which can be heard on her AWAKE cd. Here is the link to her Reverbnation site, where you can get further information and songs and links. ;https://www.reverbnation.com/kaibotaksoundcloud:https://soundcloud.com/kai-12 It is my most sincere thanks to both Kai and HG for it is only because of their kindness and great hearts that I have reached 100 posts and with such talented artists and friends. So, here we go ladies and gentlemen; Kai Botak singing "War Ghost" with my backing stuff and a video I put together last night. Please enjoy this ladie's beautiful voice and song!! Thank all of you for your support, kind words and tracks in some cases!!

"Hummingbird Way" by Mel Donovan Featuring Mark Taylor on guitar and Marc Roberge on drums Hello... read more Fandolites and friends! It is my greatpleasure to share with you a very gentle instrumental created with the help of Mark and Marc without which this tune would not have turned out this way. I have wanted to play together with Mark Taylor for a while now because we have similar taste in guitar play and this is our first time together and I am glad I asked and he agreed to give this tune a shot. Marc Roberge and I have done many collabs together and he agreed to experiment with adding drums to what Mark and I came up with. I was concerned that the drums might clutter up the mix and not work well with the delicate balance of the guitars, but you can be the judge of that for yourselves. I certainly want to thank Mark & Marc for their fine efforts on this tune!! So, put away the dancing shoes, sit back, smoke it if you got it, and relax for a short bit on "Hummingbird Way". We thank you for listening!! Cheers!

"Time After Time" by Ken Sutton Ken wrote this song back in the 70's and we played it frequently in the original form. After our 25 year break and subsequent reunuion, I had had a the inspiration to rearrange the song to it's current form. Ken liked this and so we proceeded to record it on his Fostex 8-TRK digital recorder. He played guitar, synth sax and synth bass, synth drums and sang lead vocal. I added 12-string and backing vocals and did the recording and mixing. It was always a pleasure to work with Ken on original tunes and we also did the D.O.S. trio gigs with John Orr adding bass and his vocals. We will all miss Ken, but know that he is resting in a much happier place now and we will meet again in the future. Thank you all for listening and you nice comments!

"The Stig And Pat Jambouree" http://fandalism.com/albeone http://fandalism.com/bigmoneyjenkins http://fandalism.com/evvowxm http://fandalism.com/michaelhamiltonberry Hello everyone!! Happy Mothers Day to all of you moms out there!! Today is the final day of THE EXPERIMENT, which I think we all agree has been a fantastic success and loads of fun!! My song with Alan is called "The Stig & Pat Jambouree and as you will note from some of the lyrics, I was done recording this rather early in the game. At that time Pat was still thinking of posting all the songs and so made a video with my offering. As we all know, things changed as the number of scientists grew. I did not want Pat's work to go to waste as he was a rather busy persong for the past few weeks, so I used his video and added the lyrics as he requested. A great BIG thanks to Pat and Stig for all of the time and efforts they invested into this project. It truly was fun and interesting. So here it is!! Please enjoy! Thanks from Alan and myself and Pat of course for your interest in our experiments!!

"Nobility Of Kings" music by Mel Donovan Lyrics by James Noble Hello again everyone!! Another week has gone by already and today's offering is another original tune. Because of James' way with words in his comments on everyone's posts, I asked him if he ever wrote lyrics and if so, would he please send me a sample to try and write a song to. A few days later James sent me the lyrics found in this song, but here is the interesting thing........the music for this song was recorded back in Nov./Dec. As I was reading the lyrics, they had a rhythm to them that I thought might match this music. When you listen you can judge for yourself if this strange coincidence happens to be true. Once again Brice Cross was kind enough to add his creative ideas on guitar and Marc Roberge was kind enough to add some drum fills and cymbals to the basic drum track to spice it up a couple of notches. My heart felt thanks to James, Brice and Marc for making it possible to bring you this song today!! You guys are both outstanding artists and people as well. This song also always had a warmer weather feel to it, so I guess it just wanted to wait until the proper weather had arrived here in the northern hemisphere. We hope you will enjoy our laid back and relaxed tracks for today. Thanks for all your support and listening, your comments are most welcomed here.

"Here For A Reason" by Oz/Donovan Hello once again Fandolites and friends. Today it is my pleasure to present another co-written original tune with Lori Oz, featuring James Noble on bass, Brice Cross guitar solo and HG Schmitz adding the drum programs and doing the mixing and mastering. The idea for this song came as a result of my visit to Vermont and the conversations between Brian, my brother, Lori and myself. Once the idea took hold the song took on a life of it's own and pushed Lori and me to get it done! lol I came up with the chorus and after going back and forth bouncing ideas between us, Lori wrote the verses. Once we had the arrangement settled I sent the basic tracks to James and he added a bass line that added punch to the already lively rhythm guitar play. Brice recieved those tracks plus Lori's and my vocal tracks and once again added a guitar solo that soars as does the spirit of the woman in the song! HG then took all of these tracks and added some fantastic drum programs that power the song up to it's full potential. I cannot thank all of these excellent artists enough for adding their creative spirits and musical know-how to this tune. You guys are fantastic artists and people. To Lori all I can say is that I am thankful beyond words that you said yes to this collab when it would have been just as easy to say no. You have a golden spirit Lori and Doc was right to call you Loriglory. Ok then.......let's do this!!! Please enjoy your listen! Cheers from all of us!!

YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING "You"ve Lost That Lovin' Feeling" a cover by DocProtool and The Melvinator... read more : Hello again fellow Fandolites and visitors. Another week has passed already and time for another posting. Doc and I discussed future postings when he was kind enough to help me out with "Tuesday Afternoon". As I stood at the kitchen window the other evening I thought of Doc and his low voice and myself with a mid and upper mid-range voice and this song performed by the Righteous Brothers back in the sixties popped into my head. I asked Doc if he would be interested in trying it and he responded with these fine backing tracks by the V5 and with his vocal. I added my vocal to his tracks and sent them. He then made some adjustments in his sing, basically adding some additional low harmonies with my vocals.Doc was generous enough to also add the video and as he is know for, I think it helps enhance the listening experience. We both hope you will enjoy our rendition of this tune. We enjoyed the recording process.Thank you for listening and your support!

"Honesty" by Billy Joel a cover by Mel Donovan with Annemiek Beex on piano First and foremost I want to thank Annemiek for agreeing to play the piano on this rendition with which the song becomes live as opposed to using a backing track. It was a comment on her page about liking Billy Joel and the fact that I had been singing this at random times at work that led me to the idea of actually trying to record this. If I remember right, I asked her if she would consider helping me do this on her page that very day. I think everyone can relate to this song in some way and part of the reason I wanted to post this was to send a message, which is from me alone and does not involve Annemiek in any way, as she has not seen this video either prior to when she visits here. It has come to my attention for some time now that not everyone is listening to, nor reading the intros and comments on artist's post. This subject has come up in the past and I feel it is time to address it again before the integrity of Fandoland suffers. I think it is a simple matter of respect to any artist who posts a song that; a) a visitor listen to the song--this is the most important point becuase there a numerous other sites you can blow smoke in and leave your name, if that is your main purpose b) before commenting, pay attention to the title details, such as who wrote the song, who played which instruments, who produced the song c) be kind in your assessments and supportive whenever possible, this does not mean lie. If you have nothing good to say, simply say nothing. The majority of our Fando community already do these things and have a great community spirit, this message is NOT for them. Unfortunately, the ones it is meant for will most likely not read this, nor watch the whole video. Please be clear on this;I am speaking for myself here; If you do not listen to my post--do NOT leave a comment. Enough said. And now for those of you still interested, here is "Honesty" Thank you for listening!!!!

"You Can't Always Get" by The Rolling Stones a cover by Paul Hoppe, Josefine Peter, Pierre Rosique, Kent Taylor and Mel Donovan I want to first thank my dear friends who joined together with me on this project which I thought would be a quick add some vocals and done kind of thing, but took on a life and direction of it's own, which as fools often do, we followed to the very end. Lol The first stumbling block was the idea of recreating the choir as it is in the original by getting help singing from some Fando folks. This idea went out the window as soon as I listened to the original after already recieving the base tracks from Paulie and Jose. No way I was going to be able to do get that done with real people, so I turned to Pierre, thinking he could use his synths and voice sampling or some other magic tricks. The irony of this is that there is almost no Pierre during the intro, but he was having so much fun playing with the rest of the song, that all of that is included in the final version! As Pierre was recording his tracks, I continued to struggle with the intro, trying any and all ideas that came to mind. I finally used the Helicon effects peddle and managed to get a somewhat satisfactory recording of chanting monks. It was soon after this that Pierre posted some photos of his beautiful country and when I saw the one that is now the cover photo for this song, I knew instantly it had a message and said as much in my comment on his FB post. This is where the intro speaking part came to mind. Some folks think I take this all too seriously at times and maybe so, but let me just say, that when you have waited half of a century for a dream to come true and it does in fact begin to happen thanks to so many wonderful artists and friends in Fandoland, that means a lot more to me than just having fun. Fun and pleasure in the doing are the happy by- products of joining creative spirits with other like minded people and is like nothing else in the world. This project is dedicated to all my friends who have helped to make this dream of creating wonderful music together a reality. THANK YOU one and all!! Now.......on with the show!! Paul Hoppe; drums, bass, electric guitar Josefine Peter; keys, french horn Pierre Rosique; synths Kent Taylor; lead vocal Mel Donovan; all vocals in intro, backing vocals, acoustic and electric 12-string guitars, mixing and mastering, video production

"Too Long" by Angelo Marinosci Jr. with guitar add-ons by Mel Donovan Angelo was kind enough to grant my request to play along with this tune he posted a short time ago on his page. I enjoyed several hours of just jamming along with him and this is the result. The video is made up of clips from Brian and my ski trip to Vermont early in February 2015. Thanks Angelo for the pleasure! You guitar wizards out there can relax, this is more in the mode of two guys sitting on the front porch jamming. We hope you enjoy your time here!! "Love Will Keep Us Alive" covered by Lori Oz with Mel Donovan recorded live Hello fellow Fandolites and visitors!! Today's post is a live recording done on my laptop with no edits other than the very beginning and very end of the original file. Lori and I had no idea we were going to be recording our little jam session, which we had talked about having a chance to play together in person during my visit to Smuggler's Notch for a ski vacation. I realized as my brother Brian and I were going up on the lift one day, that because I had my laptop to keep in touch, we could just use the capture mode to record the video and sound. Not an ideal method, however, better than no method. Now that we have been home for a couple of weeks, I am even more happy that recorded our time there because it is fading like a dream upon wakening. So here it is...."it is what it is", We went over the song 2 times before turning on the recorder and let it fly!! hehe We hope you enjoy this as much as we did doing it! Thanks for listening and watching!!

"Handle With Care" by the Travelling Wilburys A cover by Paul, Taka, Marc, Tedd and Mel. Well here it is Sunday again already and it is my pleasure to take my turn posting this tune. It has been a while since we finished this and I find myself needing to refresh my memory as to how this came about. Paul contacted me and I thought this was his idea, only to find out when Marc posted, that the song was Taka's idea to begin with. I ask Paul if it would be OK if I became the project co-ordinater and he said sure....I could be the boss!! Haha As anyone who has worked with me before knows, I do steer the boat because somebody has to in order to get where you want to go, but it is in the hours of communication and collection of files and producing that I have grown quite fond of doing these collabs. On original tunes, I try to set out a general guidelins in the form of basic tracks and then let the contributing artist/artists have complete freedom to add their creative input. This is an even more satisfying feeling. Ok, before it is Monday already, here is "Handle With Care". For the many of you who have already visited Marc's and Taka's posts, thank you for stopping by here as well. Paul; drums Marc; lead vocal Tedd; lap-steel guitar Taka; bass, Roy's vocals, harmonica Mel; 12-string, 3 part harmony in bridge, production and video Thanks you guys for making this a fun project to do with your timely and well done tracks!! "The Oort 6th-Chapter1" by Pierre Rosique Well what do you know, it's Sunday again already and today I am happy and proud to post Chapter1 of Pierre's epic Oort Cloud series. Although I am only one of the many artists contributing to this musical journey, Pierre has been generous enough to give each of us the option to post this on our own pages. I do so because of the quality of work involved and also because of the friendship and mutual support Pierre and I have developed between us since we first played together on "Astralys Dawn At Water's edge" and the following songs in that saga, which by the way, has one last final chapter to be finished. In this posting, I join with Jerome LeMay and Kathy Shortt in a rotation of singing responsibilities that Pierre asigned to us. Jay took care of piloting this shuttle craft and did a premix of our tracks for Pierre to add his additional musical thoughts to. This project is quite complex, but due to his clear direction and organzational skills, Pierre managed to put all of these tracks from all of the artists together into a continuous and seamless story with an ouststanding video as well!! Thank you so much Pierre for inviting me for this flight upon your mothership, it is always a pleasure working with your creations! Please enjoy your listen as we head to the Oort Cloud!!

"Far In The Distance" lyrics;Kathy Shortt music; Mel Donovan Hello fellow Fandalites and friends!! It is with great pleasure that I share with you a performance by Kathy Shortt that is just about as good as it gets!! I recorded the twin guitar tracks in early November and thought they would be just right for Kathy's voice, what I didn't know was what lyrics she would write, nor the melody lines she would choose. When I recieved her practice tracks it was a very pleasant surprise to hear what she had come up with. She worked hard during theNovember-December time frame and refined both her lyrics and sing until they have become seamless with the guitar play. A fantastic effort and the results are here for you to hear. I highly recommend headphones and eyes closed in a relaxed sitting position for best results and your safety as you are about to travel "Far In The Distance"!! Thank you Kathy, you are truly an excellent artist/songwriter and person!! Thank all of you for listening. The video is a chronology of cover photos of Kathy's and my co-written songs and "Ontario" to which I added guitar and backing vocals. Please enjoy!!

"Tuesday Afternoon" The Moody Blues covered By The Doc and The Melvinator Hello our Fando friends and visitors!! Today it is my pleasure to post a collaboration between Guenter Sieling and myself doing one of my all time fravorite tunes by the Moody Blues!! I approached Doc with this idea around Christmas time and was very pleased to get his synth, bass, guitar and drum mix file last week. These sounded so good it gave me a great shot of inspiration to finally sing this song with the proper instrumentation backing. I added my guitar and vocals and this is the result. Of course, Doc did the video, who does them any better? Doc, I thank you whole heartedly for making this possible and for your attention to detail. We thank you all for listening and watching......please enjoy!!

"The Beauty Of Life" lyrics and vocals by Leila Licks composition and guitar by Mel Donovan. Happy New Year to all my friends and fellow Fandolites!! Today it is my pleasure to share with you a collaboration with my friend Leila Licks, whom I met on Reverbnation, at least a couple of years ago. Since that time Leila has helped me out with the chorus on "The End Song" along with Melody Dawn and she has co-written a song with HG Schmitz called "Ordinary King", as well as recording an album. Leila was also one of the singers in "The Christmas Project" and has been a member of Fandalism for some time now. Here is her link to check out her other posts;http://fandalism.com/leilalicks I once said to Leila that I would like to hear her sing a "happy" song and even though neither of us was thinking of that while working on this tune, I think it is quite safe to say that, that wish has been fulfilled with this song. We thank you all for listening and appreciate your comments. Please enjoy our song!!

"Best Wishes 2" I posted this last year and removed it before Thanksgiving this year because it is the closest thing I have to a Christmas song! I hope I don't get fined or arrested or anything. It has been a rough end to this year, but believe me, to ALL of YOU, I hope you have a great "Holiday Season" !! I say it that way so everyone is included. To all of you who still believe in Santa Claus.....make sure you are in bed asleep by 10:00 or he will not come. To those of you who believe in the Bible, we are surely blessed to have a LOVING GOD who would sacrifice HIS SON for our sins! Please enjoy the song.

Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - The Peace United Choir Singers 27 November 2014 Greetings to all our Fando family and friends!! It is my pleasure and honor to be able to post "The Christmas Project" on my page even though I only played a small part in the making of it. Richard, Mark and Pierre really outdid themselves with this total production in all aspects. Just handling all the files from 51 singers and 6 artists' instruments is a mind boggling task. "As If It Is Your Last Day" Schmitz/Donovan Hello our Fando friends! It is once again a great pleasure to have shared the creative process with Mr. HG Schmitz, whom I think most of you know! Lol HG was the first person that I collaborated with so many months ago and it was he who opened the door for all the other common works I have had the pleasure of doing with you talented and wonderful artists here in Fandoland. Things are not always perfect here, but it sure beats all the other sites put together because of you, the members. HG was kind enough to send me this composition and I had great pleasure in working with it. We ask you to please, just watch and listen firt before commenting, so that you can focus on the combined video/song. Thank you all so very much for your support, friendship and sharing your talents!! Please enjoy! "As If It's Your Last Day" music; HG Schmitz lyrics; Mel Donovan Another day Slipping away No one has the right to tell you How to live your life No one can decide for you Which path is wrong or right We all come into this world With a clean slate Our book of life is new Full of blank pages through and through It's up to us to determine The story it tells in the end Will it be full of love and compassion A sharing of joy with family and friends Slippin' away Another day If you find someone to share in your love Keep them close to your heart Each new day is so precious Make each count right from the start Live it as if it is your last day Take each new day as it comes Live it as if it is your last day Take each new day as it comes repeating phrase; in the background (live, laugh, love life) Don't waste it away Another day Slippin away Another day Don't waste it away Another day

"One Step From The Curb" This is a tune with a social commentary and expresses the anxiety that I ... read morethink many, maybe millions in fact, feel about our current state of economic health. I have had the music recorded for quite some time, but could not get in the right frame of mind to write the lyrics until just recently. Because of the quick tempo I needed help with the guitar solo and Mr. Brice Cross was kind enough to take on the task. Thank you Brice!! I did all the other stuff involved with the making of the song and video. Warning: this is NOT a pleasant song/video, but life is not all lollipops and cotton candy. Thanks to each and every one of you for listening!! that I think many, maybe millions in fact, feel about our current state of economic health. "Lounging By The Sun" recorded and performed by Mel Donovan No biggie here folks. Came across an interesting melody line while in alternate tuning and decided to just go with it. I started with the 12-string (surprised aren't you?), found the drum program, added cello for bass, harp, strings, and finally electric guitar. Some of you will notice the video clips are very familiar because I am recycling them to save time. I took a 3 day break from Fando to stop the echos in my head and quite honestly it seemed more like weeks. Thank you all for the time you take to stop and listen to any of my songs. There is no other place like Fandoland and even with all it's faults, it outshines all the other music sites. So sit back, relax and please enjoy some time Lounging By The Sun P.S. Headphones and sun block recommended! Lol

""Doctor My Eyes" covered by Mel Donovan "Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne Another week has passed us by and it is Sunday again already!! I am resting after having surgery on Friday, but had recorded this a couple of weeks ago, so it was basically ready to post. I have missed a lot of your posts over the past week and will have time to catch up, since I will be unable to go to my day-job for a couple of weeks. This is one of my favorite Jackson Browne tunes and I played this live both as a solo artist and with my D.O.S. trio. On this recording I used the TC-Helicon Voicelive play effects peddle to add the harmonies as I played the tune and recorded it live on my laptop going through the recorder first. This allowed me to add just a bit of piano to fill a little since I can in no way claim to be qualified to play piano! So here you have it, my offering of the day. Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement!

"Living A Dream" "Living A Dream" Donovan/Shortt Hello Fandalites and friends from around the world! It is a honor and great pleasure to present a collaboration with Kathy Shortt, HG Schmitz and James Noble!! We recorded "Daybreak" as an instrumental song and were satisfied with the results, but at the same time I asked Kathy if she would like to try working with it. To my surprise she not only tried, but succeeded in writing lyrics and finding a melody for her to sing that not only works, but lifts the song as a whole. Making a song the best it can be is a goal we all strive for and with the addition of my backing vocals and the video that I invested much time in, I feel that we as a team achieved this goal. The lyrics are included in the video for those of us who have hearing problems and those who can read English, but have trouble with the spoken word. My heart felt thanks go to my fellow artists here; THANK YOU, James, HG and KATHY for your creative input on this song!! Here now is the list of artists and their contributions to the song. MEL DONOVAN; original composition, 12- string guitar, synth harp, backing vocals, video production KATHY SHORTT; lyrics, melody, lead vocal JAMES NOBLE; bass and electric guitars HG SCHMITZ; final arrangement, drum programs, mixing and mastering Please enjoy our music video, thanks for your support and comments are always welcomed! "Lady Madonna" covered for the joy! "Lady Madonna" by THE BEATLES a cover by Annemiek Beex, Marc Roberge and Mel Donovan Hello Fando members and friends! It has been my great pleasure to play with Annemiek on piano and Marc doing drums, bass, synth sax, backing vocals and kazoo, while I did the rhythm guitar, electric guitar, synth sax and sang lead vocal on this very short, but energetic Beatles' tune. Anne had posted a song with a very similar style of play and as soon as I heard it I felt we would be able to pull this cover off. She agreed to give it a shot and I contacted Marc to see if he was done his wall project and was interested in joining us. Thankfully he was and so, together we put our efforts, quite enthusiastically I must say, into recording what you will now hear. We thank you very much for listening and always appreciate your thoughts and comments! Please enjoy!
