The Torch Singer - my cover version of a John Prine song .............................................. read more................. .... While delving deep into my record collection the other day, and I came across an album that I must have bought in about 1972 called "Diamonds in the Rough" by John Prine. .............................................................. (Really ? Nearly 50 years ? where did they go ?) ............................................................"Diamonds" became a big favourite of mine back then - and playing it again after all this time, I was reminded why. The album has some great songs with simple melodies and thoughtful lyrics and I used to love to sing along to them - loud and often ! I used drive my family mad !.............................................................This is an a capella cover of one of the songs from that album - "The Torch Singer". (Apologies for the faux-American accent that I adopt here, but the song kind of demands it !)
