'Love Is Left Behind' I wrote the lyrics to this song a few years ago while I was on a tour of Tall Ships at a Great Yarmouth Festival. As the boat I was in drew alongside one of the ships. the tour guide was telling how slaves would be chained below the water line. I could 'hear' the melody as I wrote. It is brilliantly sung by Karen Boyle and the guitarist who arranged and is playing my melody is Simon Ewin. It is thanks to these two talented artists that my song 'comes alive. Thank you. I hope that you enjoy listening.

'Life Goes On' - Gaiamantra (performed by Rob Bray) This is not my song but I'd like to share this video of my music producer Rob Bray. I believe that he is the real deal, raw, undiscovered talent as a singer, songwriter and musician. Due to the current situation nobody can go to his studio and record but this is a brilliant result and 'Life Goes On'. I feel so privileged to know him and be able to say he's a friend.

'So In Love With You' is a song with a story. I met a lady playing bridge one afternoon and she shared with me that over 20 years ago she had written some words that she had always hoped would one day be put to music. The wonderfully romantic lyrics are written by Audrey Walden and the melody that I composed is brilliantly arranged and played by James Gladson and beautifully sung by Corinne Lucy. 'Catch The End Of Every Thread' I wrote whilst I was listening to a song being sung as a tribute to Matt Armour who started the Song Loft in Stony Stratford, Bucks, UK. When I lived in Northampton I tried to go as often as I could. This wonderful group meet once a fortnight and wonderful songs are sung and enjoyed. Matt believed that older musicians/songwriters must encourage youngsters to carry on after we fade away. Musicians never die because they leave so much of themselves behind. This is in Matt's memory and is for his wife Jane who has carried on what her husband started. Thank you Jane. I miss your evenings so much. I hope that you like the song.

'Farewell My Lammas Love' as played on the radio, I co- wrote with Rob Bray for the Straw Horses to perform. Lammas Day, the 1st of August, was traditionally the start of the harvest, when the first wheat was cut and made into loaves that would be given to the church to thank God for the crops. During the period of reaping, celebrating and thanksgiving that followed, a young couple might be permitted to spend 11 days in a trial romantic union. This sometimes led to marriage, but if that wasn’t allowed, they might have to wait until the next Lammas fair before they could be together again.

Shick Shack I co-wrote with Rob Bray and it is sung and performed by The Straw Horses. Following his defeat at Worcester in 1651, Charles II had to flee England in disguise. During this long and dangerous escape, he spent a day hiding in an oak tree while Parliamentarian soldiers searched the surrounding woods. On the 29th of May 1660, Charles returned from exile and rode into London, where he was welcomed by a great, jubilant crowd. The monarchy was restored, and those who were glad to have their king back took to wearing a sprig of oak on the anniversary of Charles’s return to commemorate the tree in which he had hidden from his pursuers. May 29th remained a public holiday, known as Oak Apple Day, until 1859. People seen not sporting oak leaves might find themselves whipped with nettles to the cry of ‘shick shack’ – a milder version of a rather vulgar old epithet.

Here's To Maybella is an English factual folk song that I co -wrote with Rob Bray and he and Bee Church are singing under the collective name 'The Straw Horses. He is playing his arrangement of my melody. In the late 13th century, the kindly Maybella was married to a miserly landowner called Roger De Tichborne. On her deathbed, she asked him to remember her by providing for the poor people of the parish each year. Roger handed her a burning log from the fire and declared that he would donate to the poor the yield from whatever land she could crawl around before the wind blew out the flame she was carrying. Maybella managed to cover 23 acres – an area still known as ‘The Crawls’. Over 700 years later, flour is still given to the residents of Tichborne by the parish priest every 25th March.

The Devil's Footsteps I wrote in collaboration with Rob Bray and is performed by him and Bee Church under the collective name of The Straw Horses. The picture is a commissioned drawing by Claire Aberlé an artist in Australia. The story, briefly, is this: On the morning of the 9th of February 1855, early risers in the south of Devon were confronted by a chilling sight in the half-light of the wintry dawn: a line of hoof-shaped prints in the deep snow, traversing houses and walls, crossing rivers, and even seeming to pass through drainpipes and narrow cracks. The prints suggested a two-legged creature with hooves, leading many to fearfully speculate that the Devil himself had paid a nocturnal visit to their county.

A Blue Sky Day In November is a poignant celebratory song. I had been told by doctors that it was unlikely that I could have a daughter after miscarrying five. I gave birth to my only girl on 29/11/1982 when my youngest son was 11. Thirty-one years later November is really a month to celebrate in my family my granddaughter was born on 06/11/1992 and now her daughter, my first great grandchild was born on 11/11/2013 It is sung by Bee Church and my melody is arranged and played by James Gladson

The Memory Of You. Lyrics by Vera Turner (slightly adapted) A lady who lives in Warrior, Alabama, had listened to my songs on fandalism.com and then contacted me to ask if I would look at some lyrics she had written and see if I could come up with a melody. A few weeks ago they arrived via email and James Gladson and I worked out a melody which just required a few small changes to the lyrics but we tried hard to keep to the original meaning. This is the finished product which I am pleased to say the lady, namely Vera Turner (see picture), likes and James has arranged, performs and produced. I of course am Mavis Ellen Jackson. I hope that you enjoy this truly international collaboration.

Poverty & Power: Spoken to 'wind music' and professionally recorded in Drew Downing's studio in Surbiton UK. Ahead of the G8 summit in Northern Ireland I wanted to highlight and support the agit8 campaign. I recorded this in a studio a few years ago and it is as relevant now as it was when I wrote it. I know there is a need to look after our own, I hear it all the time but the poorest most poverty stricken person in the UK is rich compared to some of the poorest, starving, disease stricken regions in the world. If we work together and use any God given gift to raise awareness then we can and will make a difference.

Shadows In The Mist I wrote after listening to two televised interviews with parents who had lost children while serving in the armed forces abroad. One was with a mother who had lost her son and the other was with a father who had lost his daughter. This version is sung by Bee Church and my melody is arranged and played by James Gladson of www.ludomusic.co.uk He also provides harmonies in the chorus.

My Darling Child I wrote for each of my four children, Richard, Stephen, David and Amber. One of the hardest things a mother has to do is to let her children go. To give them love and support always but to also give them complete freedom to grow and make their own choices in life. I am so proud of all my children for their individual qualities and achievements. Beautifully sung by Bee Church and my melody is arranged and played by James Gladson of www.ludomusic.co.uk Thank you.

The Colour of Laughter is a song that I wrote which is born from truth. I received my first yellow rose from Rod, my husband to be, in 1962 when we met and I had golden roses for my wedding bouquet in 1967 and like the song says I have received yellow/golden roses on every special day since and they still continue today. A golden rose means far more to me than any red rose as I have always considered it to be the colour of hope, sunshine, a smile and of course laughter. My melody is brilliantly arranged and played by James Gladson of www.ludomusic.co.uk
