I started writing songs when I was 5 years old or so in the sandbox. Always had a thing for lyrics.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Harry Chapin, by myself, when I was 12, in Winnipeg at the Centennial Concert Hall. He was a great story-teller. I was definitely the youngest person there.
What gear do you use?
I mostly play my Godin Seagull acoustic 6-string.
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
I'd like to find more people who want to play my stuff, even if they adapt it extensively.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I loved The Beatles. I was much younger than my siblings, and mostly listened to their music.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have a 5 piece band. We don't play much yet - different music than I have out. I met them at church. I was an honorary member of a Kenyan band in College, for like one concert.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I've performed in front of 200 people, maybe. My most memorable performance was in a bar, actually, at an open mic night, because I totally had a strong connection with an audience member when I was playing.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Full Moon Fever. First heard it when I lived up in a small northern Manitoba town on the radio, and it matched the adventure I was living at the time-, somehow.
