I've been playing music all my life; I started taking formal guitar lessons at age 9.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Yankee Stadium, Bronx NY, June 1969. Isley Brothers, Johnny Maestro & the Brooklyn Bridge, the Edwin Hawkins Singers, the Five Stairsteps. My mom and my two brothers in the bleachers, while my dad was in a tent recording the whole show.
What gear do you use?
Fender Jazz bass, Ibanez and Agile guitars, a home made strat-style guitar, Roland synth gear, and I record with the Reaper digital audio workstation.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I've been in bands since my teens, and played rock, blues, jazz, and R&B. Right now, I'm lead guitarist for A Different Sound.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I played guitar for a symphony orchestra one evening, in front of a full house (400+ people).
My most memorable gig was singing in a gospel choir behind the great Carole King. There were 2 shows, 2 nights apiece, and hundreds were there.
I've played in rooms where there was no one but the walls. It reminds me to be humble.
