I became a musician at age 9. Learned how to play the clarinet. Got my first guitar at age 12 and have been in love with them ever since.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Aerosmith in 1972 at the Springfield Civic center in Springfield MA. Went with my good friends Bob and Greg Davis from West Brookfield MA. They were awesome. Santa Ezmarelda was the back up band. They were cool.
What gear do you use?
I have a 2000 standard Strat which is basically stock except for a matching set of 5 dimarzio tremelo springs. Use 11- 49 fender bullet strings. 90 Les Paul Custom Use 11- 51 Gibson reissue strings. Couple of amps. Seymor Duncun 84-40 tube amp with a boss me-5 effects and crybaby wah. Line 6 Bogner edition tube amp with an added fm-4 envelope follower.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
If I had to pick the most influential guitar player for me it would probably be Eric Clapton. Other influences include Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Alvin Lee, Santana, Toni Iomi, The Edge to name a few. Can't leave out the Beatles and the Rolling Stones as well.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not currently. I was lead guitarist for Nardo. Left that because I can't work for people who have no gratitude. I was lead guitar player for a band in Massachusetts called Rukkus. I played lead for a group on Maui called Nosmo King. Have a website with original music at http://www.bobcargillmusic.com/
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Eric Clapton would be fun to have a pickin and grinnin session with. But really anybody on my list of influences.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest so far I guess would have to be this battle of the bands Nosmo King did on Maui. Multiple thousands in attendance.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
That's a tough question. Maybe Axis Bold as Love by Jimi Hendrix. Or most Zepplin albums. Hard to say. Fragile by Yes? It would really have to be at least ten or I wouldn't go!
