My mom played piano and I tinkered a bit since birth. But I started around 9 or 10 with piano and quickly moved to drums and guitar. I had zero patience for lessons or theory and continued by ear. I played a lot in high school but no one really knew. It wasn't until college where I was studying to become a doctor that I really discovered my passion for music. I started playing in bands and recording song ideas, playing all the instruments and vocals. It was then that I took the art more seriously and began to educate myself in theory and musical styles and explore career opportunities.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
RUSH and The Police opened. It was awesome. I was blown away by the hybrid of synths and live instruments :)
What gear do you use?
Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul, Line 6 Veriax, Babicz custom acoustic guitar, Martin 12 string, Takamine nylon Jasmine (2), Lil Martin, Ibanez 7 string, assorted basses, keyboards, drums.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I started with Rush, Sammy Hagar, whatever friends were listening to - then I got into the Beatles for their songwriting and multiple styles.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not now but was in a lot of bands in Chicago, Hawaii and LA>
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
The BEATles - their was something in their songwriting that always appealed to me. They were a mix of uptempo, midtempo and ballads, which, to me, makes a great show.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I think the largest was close to 20,000 - the smallest was an intimate performance with my rock band in Canada for a tv special. It think it was only 100 people. I remember being more nervous for the smaller shows than anything large.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Oh, man, "album"? - I'd have my iphone with all my thousands of songs. ;)
