I come from a musical family and started learning musical instruments probably when I was 10.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
If I remember correctly it was The Sir Douglas Quintet with The Smoke Ring in Omaha, I was maybe 12. I know I was with my big sister and I just remember how cool the bands looked. The first big rock concert after that was Bloodrock and they blew my mind.
What gear do you use?
Not much of a gear head. I play guitar as well as bass and I love my Gibson SG, made in 1975 or 6.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
The Beatles, Jack Bruce, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, Faust just for starters. They showed me possibilities and greater perspectives on reality.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Currently in these bands and working with these artists:
some solo appearances. Past bands include Digital Sex, Son Ambulance, RAF, The Family Radio, Disco Ranch, One Mummy Case, Ernst, High Voltage Jammers, Flamethrower, Norman & the Rockwells and Platform.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
too many to mention.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Largest is about 10,000 and like most musicians I've played gigs where you're practicing in a public place. Among the most memorable have been opening for REM in the band Digital Sex, opening for The Dead Kennedys while in the band RAF, playing bass with Mark Burgess of The Chameleons in concert, recently playing with punk rock legend Rikk Agnew who was with bands such as Social Distortion, The Adolescents, D.I., Christian Death and 45 Grave.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
