Since age six( I am 50)...my dad was a great musician and he had lots of albums and he stuck a mandolin in my hands at age 6.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
First I remember is Flatt and Scruggs at the Bell Auditorium in Augusta, GA.must have been 1965 or 66..I was 4 or 5...I remember the suits they wore and how the crowd loved them...and my dad going to the record table and talking with Paul Warren, their fiddle player.
What gear do you use?
I play a 1991 John Hutto mandolin...he made about 143 of them and mine is number 50...his work is well known and appreciated....they go for about $15,000 if you can find someone willing to part...mine is unique in that I had him put "The Flowers" in the head-stock.
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
More fans..and more gigs.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Hank Williams, Bill Monroe were the two biggest stars...of course, my dad, would be the biggest since he was the one who taught me to play. He had their records and I wore them out as a kid learning their songs. Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, also were huge influences.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have my own band, The Doug Flowers Band.we play bluegrass shows throughout the southeast part of USA. I also worked with Little Roy & Lizzy Show, Clinton Gregory, Betty Fisher, Avalanche, and Flatbed, as well as Gerald Smith.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Hank Williams.....it would be cool to hang out with him.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I have performed in front of thousands before, so hard to say which was the largest event over the years.
The smallest? Seven people!
My most memorable was performing three songs on the Grand Ole Opry when I was 16.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?

CD one of the box set that featured Flatt and Scruggs in his group with the sound that defined bluegrass music.
