How long have you been playing?
Been playing since I was a kid. Seriously since about 15 years old. First rock and blues and pop and in my mid 30s I switched to jazz. Nothing else mattered ever since.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Forgot.
What gear do you use?
Gibson ES guitars.
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
Just sharing my vids.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Since I started playing jazz Tal Farlow and Joe Pass I guess. As a kid probably the rock guitarists of the 70s.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not gigging at the moment. I have been in several jazz combos for many years. These days I refuse to play for free or just a tip and somehow that's what people seem to expect from a jazz guitarist over here. So I happily stay at home and record my vids.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Tal Farlow. Joe Pass. Pat Martino. My heroes.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
For rock proaobly a few hundred. For jazz, usually small venues. However thousands and thousands of people must have seen my videos on Youtube. Can't touch that playing live.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
The Private Recordings, Tal Farlow. But I could think of some more ...

Clifford Brown's famous solo on "Joy Spring" played and scatted in real time over the original recording. Bars 17 - 23 with the 16th notes are a total bitch to play. The voice and guitar are up front in the mix but Clifford is playing along with us. What a marvellous solo this is. The guy is telling a story with a beginning and an end. With questions and answers. With all kinds of rhythmic variations and little surprises. A bebop masterpiece.

The Song Is You. This is an old vid I found on my hard drive. At least 12 years old. Quality was very poor so I restored both audo and image and changed the old video format it to widescreen. At the time I was very much into Tal Farlow and this whole piece has that vibe a bit. The guitar is the Tal Farlow I still have and play a lot.
