This song is written for two lifelong friends of mine; Steve Duckett and Nige Rowlands. We've been friends for well over 60 years and we all share a love of music and football. As well as being lifelong Wrexham AFC supporters our musical tastes are very similar too.

Words & Music: Pete Evans 2018

A song about a memory of a steam train journey around 1959/1960 when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I remember this journey vividly leaving Ruabon, the village I lived in and ending at Barmouth on the West Welsh coast. The story about the one eyed gentleman is entirely true!
I have used videos from my father's cine films and wonderful clips borrowed from Unseen Steam.

Bryn y Maen – Pete Evans
Words & Music: Pete Evans
Acoustic, Bass, Lead, Rhythm Guitars, Vocal: Pete Evans
I wrote this song as I was sick and tired of the negativity and arguments between people on social media. Friends falling out if their political views were different and even unfriending each other. I got that I didn’t want to use Facebook as constant bickering popped up on my wall daily. So much false information and lies that the gullible readily take for granted. Well they read it on Facebook so it must be true!
I am lucky that I can get away from it all to a place that has no Wi-Fi, a place of spectacular views, a place to share with nature. A hamlet above Colwyn Bay on the North Wales coast, Bryn y Maen

A song that I wrote in 2015 but never recorded. Last year I visited both Paul McCartney's and John Lennon's childhood homes in Liverpool and as I stood in John's bedroom and looked out of his window I recalled some of the great songs he wrote Strawberry Fields, Imagine and Across The Universe.
When when I was returning home I recalled this song and decided to record it.
The song has been on Youtube for well over an year but for some reason I haven't posted it on Fandalism

Tears In The Valley (Remembering Aberfan) 2016 - Pete Evans
The 21st October 2016 will be the 50th anniversary of the terrible tragedy which happened in Aberfan in South Wales. After a period of incessant rain a mountain of coal waste started to move. It moved towards the village and eventually smothered the school. The children had just left morning assembly and they had sung the hymn All Things Bright And Beautiful when disaster struck. 116 children and 28 adults perished that morning.
I was just 14 that day in 1966 but I remember those images on TV vividly
I originally posted this tribute in 2013 but I have added keyboards and bass

I have been asked on a few occasions what the Flying Vee guitar sounds like, it's a guitar I never use on my recordings not that it's a bad guitar, on the contrary it's an excellent axe which has been set up professionally by Yan at Wrexham Guitar. Heading For A Breakdown - Pete Evans 2016
Acoustic, Bass, Electric Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals: Pete Evans
2014/2015 was quite a difficult time in my life, I fell with my granddaughter and suffered a back injury, my father passed away, problems at home (not with my wife) which left me stressed out. I felt I had no help from work, my workload increased and for the umpteenth time my employer embarked on yet another work method! Although I asked for lighter duties nothing was done to help me. I eventually asked for early retirement which was accepted.

'57 Chevrolet - Don Borgal, Pete Evans
Words & Music: Don Bowling
Originally Performed by Billie Jo Spears
Bass Guitar: Don Borgal
Guitars & Vocal: Pete Evans
Although '57 Chevrolet was a huge hit for Billy Jo Spears in the U.S. Country Music charts it had little success in the U.K. I came across the song on a country music vinyl sampler sometime in the early '80's which also had songs from Dolly Parton, Glenn Campbell and others. This song had something that stayed with me. Late 2015 I was saddened to learn of Billy Jo's passing in 2011, I had no idea of her death and I recalled this song. Since childhood I always loved old American cars and I remember the old Cadillacs, Fords and Chevrolets with their huge tail fins. My good friend in Canada Don Borgal is a massive old car fan and runs a vintage car club in Canada and I asked him if he wanted to collaborate again. Don didn't need any persuading so here is our version of '57 Chevrolet and I dedicate it to the memory of Billy Jo

Lyrics: Teri Evans

Teri offered me this poem that she had written and asked if it could be made into a song with a mystical melody. I had recently composed this melody to use on another song and I picked it out on an acoustic guitar and it fitted with very little modification to the words.
The music uses four different keyboard tracks, bass guitar, electro-acoustic guitar and two separate vocal tracks

A Voice On The Phone - Bob Clements, Alan Jones, Pete Evans
This song originated out of a Facebook conversation among the three of us. We basically discussed chord progressions in song structure but Alan worked on the chord progression the following day and sent us a demo! Alan had some thoughts about the lyric around a chorus he'd written and asked me to write something suitable.
Alan sang the chorus and I sang the verses, I played the bass but Bob arranged all the instrumentation and production. I produced the video.

A Little Bit Of Love - Peter Evans, Yvalain
This song was born after I realised that in 2015 John Lennon would have been 75 on October 09th and also it would be 35 years since his murder in 1980.
John was a major peace campaigner but so little has changed since his death. Terrorism attacks, countries at war, killing children attending their schools, murders and violence increasing; when is it going to end?
I sent a rough demo to Yvalain for his attention and hoped we could collaborate and publish the song in time for Christmas. As always Yvalain has made a truly amazing production.
Many thanks Yvalain

Story Of My Life – Nicole Cahill & Pete Evans
A few days ago a new member to Musicians Free Space (on Facebook)
posted some lyrics to a song she had written and asked if someone could compose a song for them. I could really feel her lyrics and could feel the melody. Nicole told me that it was the first time
she had heard her lyrics brought to life. I had no idea at that time Nic's age, I still don't! But her Mum Mairead thanked me the next day and said how much it meant to Nicole. She explained about Nic's disablement. I am so humbled and proud to have brought a smile to that young lady's face. This is your song Nicole xx

Basically I was sent a backing track entitled "new song 2" which was composed by Alan Jones' and featured him playing a rythym guitar. I was asked to write a lyric based on my interpretation of
his guitar part.
Originally I started to write a song called 'Spoon's Blues based on that doyen of modern British culture...the Wetherspoon pub chain! Cheap ale is so attractive...But the more I listened to it I could feel the track had an early sixties feel about it and so I used lyrics that I had written for an original song called Deja Vu about 5 or 6 years ago after Fiat released the new Fiat 500. The song had an entirely different melody but I had only ever roughly recorded it. So essentially it's an old song brought up to date in a new melody! Deja vu!
I've added bass and a '60's sounding lead guitar.

I have just finished writing and recording this song which is about the sickening trade of money-lending where the poorest and most vulnerable in society face a life of debt because of the obscene interest rates charged by these scum traders.
The guitars I used are a Lorenzo Flame Series, a cheap Chinese electro-acoustic which I used extensively to compose my Alice's Adventures concept album and also a Hondo HLP using both pickups. 2015

Fact or Folklore? This is a song based on a story by Richard Holland from his book Supernatural Clwyd. It tells of Margaret Blackbourne who was murdered by her drunken husband George. A womaniser who married a young lady soon after his wife's death but they would never enjoy peace as Margaret's spirit constantly visited them...

I recorded No More Sadness two years ago and posted the audio track on Fandalism via Soundcloud. Recently I reduced my Soundcloud songs and I removed this erroneously but I still had the original video which had never been shown. I've added a little wah and a bass guitar. I hope you like it

As I wrote Cold Wind Blowing I realised how much I've missed my Mum. I had visited her in Walton Hospital in Liverpool just hours before she died in 1978; Mum drifted in and out of consciousness that afternoon but I thought she would make it. I just wish I could have had some more time alone with her. I never got chance to tell her I loved her
