J.D. Richards - Songwriter - Our American Heritage [LIVE] - I am so tired of seeing western movies where the basic cowboy and Indian confrontation plays out with the same ending. There were many battles won by the native tribes. How can we forget "Custer's Last Stand" which was total annihilation and brilliant cavalry strategy by Crazy Horse and blundering dividing of forces by Custer? The whites were always portrayed as heroic and honorable. They frequently raided villages when the warriors were elusively evading capture and only women, children, and old men were there. The tribesmen were defending their homes and land from invaders. The pretense of giving blankets for protection from the winter cold when they were infected with alien diseases that swept through the tribes (men, women, and children), much like our present-day pandemic, was deliberate. Being banished to reservations and treated as lower class humans, offered little or no opportunity. How did Columbus discover anything? He was lost, the lands he claimed to discover were very occupied. Euro-man systematicly looted every country ans enslaved the people. I wrote this to express my feelings about genocide on par with the Holocaust.

To Make You Feel My Love [PRELIM EDIT] - I heard this beautiful fingerstyle arrangement on Jimmy Quango's YouTube page along with many more of equal quality, I asked if I could put a vocal on his track and he granted me the privilege. He plays the melody line and I can let my voice dance around the melody notes. I'm able to present my interpretation of Dylan's perfectly written song. I laid a LIVE vocal to try and figure out I will sing it to master. Used a ceramic microphone. and had to use noise reduction to clean it up. I'll use a much better mic to and I won't be tardy on any lines. Truly love this song. Please check back Wednesday night (Houston, TX time).

Watchin'' Heather Dance [Re-mastered] - Written immediately after watching the Hungry Like The Wolf ... video by Duran Duran. I wanted to write something with that much energy. The only song I ever played drums on. All the guitars and vocals are me. The lyric is inspired by my observations at 12 at the 1st dance I went to. All the girl were on one side of the room and the boys on the other. I danced twice with a broom. Very shy at that age. I got over it. Every time I try and write a description after having to take a nerve pain pill for my neck and lower back typos reign supreme.

Imagine [COVER - LIVE VOCAL] - My version of the John Lennon masterpiece. I've done it this way since I 1st performed it shortly after his murder. I just never recorded it. I had to search for a week to find someone playing fingerstyle similar to how I played so many years. I'm working on regaining the feeling back in my right hand so I can be one with my wooden lady again. The youngster in the 1st frame of the video is peering out to see if the world is the utopian one imagined by Lennon. The boy in frame 2 is holding an automatic weapon. This is shameful to me. The Young girl is sitting in a doctor's office, or clinic. What level of care is she receiving? The rest of the pictures I used show disasters, homes of extremely wealthy, children who are very hungry, and the Vatican and Buckingham Palace to symbolize massive accumulation of wealth. There is nothing offensive to children in my video. The intent is to ask the question, "What kind of world are our children inheriting? Many of the disasters are caused by humanity. We were given the Garde of Eden and what have we done. Imagine if we fully utilized the food supply in the world. There wouldn't be starving children in Africa and Appalachia. Imagine that there was true religious freedom and anyone would not be attacked on so many levels. Imagine no war where the haves didn't try to drive the have-nots into the ground. Comments are turned off on this video. Anyone wanting to comment can email me at jdmusiccentral@outlook.com. May we all be blessed by a return to the Garden.

Marina del Rey [COVER - LIVE VOCAL] - I was going through archived videos and found Marina del Rey. The vocal was recorded with a ultra-cheap ceramic microphone and distorted in places. I just spent 6 hours getting it this clean. I'll re-record it Thursday night but in the meantime here is the only George Strait song I performed on stage with my wooden lady. Probably over 300 times in 10 years in and around Galveston dinging 6-7 nights a week.

How I Wish That We Could Do It All Again [LIVE] - Written in 1976, I believe, after a perfect date with a young lady who could have been Linda Carter's sister. I had told my friends I would go stag to our bar's Christmas Party but I had no idea I would meet such a goddess 3 days before. She approached me was I was working and asked if I could talk with her a minute. Of course I could. She asked me to accompany her to her office Christmas Party on Saturday. I had to trun her down with great reluctance but I quickly asked her to be my date at our party 3 days later. She said yes. From the moment we arrived at the party, everyone encircled my date who wore a backless gown with a deeply plunging neckline. I just stood there grinning. As we were leaving the party she suggested spending the night in my apartment rather than driving her home. My answer, as yo may have guessed was yes. The lyrics are inspired by Debbie, my Christmas Party date. My friends forgave me for not joining them in their stag drinking ritual, the instant they saw my date.

Our American Heritage [Master Edit] - A look at history and the mistreatment to the level of genocide of indigenous tribes. I lost the lyric over the years and could only remember bits and pieces. I re-wrote the verses and recorded it. I am very pro-Native American. When we played Cowboys and Indians when I was young, I was always an Indian. My mom's mom was full blood and her dad half-breed. War Is Hell [Master Edit] - I donated use of War Is Hell to Operation Helmet to include on a CD sent to the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and sold to raise money to supply helmet kits to front line US troops. I play Taps at the end of the song. The song was inspired by tales of my father working in the rice fields around Nome and China, Texas in his early teens and lying about his age to join the Marines at 15. He served in the Pacific in WW2 on Guadalcanal and other islands. He told me when I said I was volunteering for the Marine Corp when I was going to be drafted that the US couldn't win in Vietnam. You can't allow your enemy a safety zone to retreat to where you can not pursue. I didn't pass the physical because of my blown out right knee. Semper Fi.

Show Me The Road To Heaven {Final Edit} - I recorded "Show Me The Road" a week before I pawned my keyboard in 1997. Since the beginning of time, religion has been human kinds attempt to explain the darkness and the questions without answer where you have to have faith. The Bible includes some books and leaves others out based on human judgement. Each man, or woman's, religion is their own and as Lennon sang "Whatever Gets You Through The Night". To me a religion that does not condone sacrifice, either human, or other creature, is viable excluding any religion that participates in sexual activity with children. Moral responsibility seems to wane at times in our world.

Watchin' Heather Dance Part 2 - This the original recording I did playing all parts with a drum machine - I wrote this immediately after watching the video of Duran Duran's "Hungry Like A Wolf". I didn't copy anything directly but wanted to create something with that type of power. This is probably the best rhythm guitar I ever played LIVE. No punch-ins. Who would think that this was written by a Father Tyme (acoustic guitarist/vocalist who believes till this very day that the most honest genre of music is someone with a guitar, or piano, alone facing an audience). I walked away from independent recording deals and chose, what for me, was the ultimate musical path. The feedback and instant gratification of singing to new and old friends can not be matched. I owe my peace of mind and heart in regards to my music to places like the Captain's Table, the Baja Beach Club (My first Galveston weekly gig in January 1999, the Jamaica Beach Saturday gigs, Bahama Mama's, Daddy's in Gilchrist, and so many others (Over 3000 gigs in 9 1/2 years - Yes, I was quite busy. During season, I would book two gigs a day when I was offered compatible bookings. At the 'Table I saw my friend's kids grow from elementary school to junior and high school. So High Alone And 18 [Final Edit] - Written in 1980 after talking to my step-daughter about so much pot use in school. That was in 1980, mind you. I donĂ½ smoke but know a lot of friends who do. If someone is high they tend to mellow out and aren't as mush of a threat behind the wheel of their car as they go to the closest drive-in grocery with the munchies. Pot should be legal in all 50 states in my opinion. Alcohol that inacapacitates drivers and murders on the highway is legal and taxed. Marijuana can generate a major scale harvest of money. Get real, pompous politicians!

False Prophet Blues {Final Edit} - Written as Shaman's Song but I felt it was mistitled. The lyric refers to alcohol as the false prophet and tells the story of a man who achieves a drunken state and accidentily wanders out on the roof of a bar on the Strand in Galveston and throws his empty down and the people below on the street think he's about to jump when he had no intention. Cops were called and he was arrested. Inspired by a true story I read online that happened in Houston I think. Written while in my apartment riding out a storm. Usd ladies pictures and 1 guy. Betterthan looking at one drunk guy after another in my previous video.

Valeries Lullaby - Written for someone I once believed in. It seems like a lifetime ago. Writers have been trying to re-invent the wheel with those 3 little words since the beginning of time. If you are lucky enough to catch lightening in a bottle once in your lifetime, your heart is blessed. I caught it 6 times (3 redheads, 1 dark blonde, one brunette with red roots, 1 medium brown hair and Cajun. All six had green/hazel eyes). Love gluttony?
