Lost Dove's Flight - Trans Love Airway was a band in Beaumont, Texas in the late 1960s. The name triggered me to write "Lost Dove's Flight" about a mis-directed dove and a love that didn't work out.

Makin' Love In The Gulf Of Mexico - Written after a night time adventure back when I was in good enough shape to go skinny dipping. We were amazed at the phosphorus dancing in the waves. The other lady's boy friend was afraid the law would catch him. The two ladies and I played in the water then lay on the beach. Of course, no towels.

Summer Wind - This started out as a poem then evolved into a life commentary song. It was written after I got home from an island gig in the wee hours of a Saturday morning around May 24th 2006. That's the anniversary of my mom's death. No matter how hard you pray you can't bring someone you love back. In my mom's case, she was in such pain and finally had that taken away.

Wave Dance - July 4th Weekend 2005 I got my beach guitar and a legal pad and walked over to the beach. There were half a dozen condemned beach houses just off the beach road. I had been wanting to write a song about the eternal battle between the waves and the land. I sat down and watched the waves dance with guitar in my lap.

Our American Heritage - I lost the lyric over the years and could only remember bits and pieces. I re-wrote the verses and recorded it. I am very pro-Native American/American Indian. When we played Cowboys and Indians when I was young, I was always an Indian. My mom's mom was full blood and her dad half breed.Taken along with my father Cajun/Heinz 57 bloodline, I am quite the blended human. I believe I fell instantly in love with my wife because she looks like an Indian Princess.

Shaman’s Song - On Mount Rushmore are 2 white men who owned slaves, one white man who did the right thing and proclaimed their emancipation and was murdered, and one white man whose most famous act was charging up a hill. This is a song about a Native American from Oklahoma who got drunk and ended up on the roof of a bar on the Strand in Galveston. It's a semi-true story of a man who did not want to fly like an eagle. Injustice can be blind too. Our country is governed by false, soulless prophets. The wiping out of American Indians (Columbus made a mistake!) was genocide. Our dark past

The Storm - I wrote this historically accurate saga of the 1900 Storm as the 100th anniversary of it's devastation approached. I didn't get to play it at the remembrance ceremonies when I broke my left hand defending myself from 3 would-be muggers the end of August 1 week prior. Between 6-12 thousand were killed by the storm.

Down In Miami - Inspired by the Sean Connery movie, "Cuba". What a fun song to record! Doug Burtchaell of Houston played all the instruments. I asked for a 2 minute conga at the end and he delivered with one of the hottest leads I have ever heard. This is one of the songs on my NEW CD, "The Gulf Is Crying" to be released 02/21/2018.
