Been playing a long time. Started with piano lessons on an old upright my folks bought second hand. Got a six string acoustic for X-mas one year and played along with the radio. Little by little the strings busted but it didn't stop me. Kept on until I was playing along with the melody on my one last string. Music has always been the only thing I really understood. It was the thing I was best at, but that's not saying much though, I'm not much good at anything else.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Happened to notice a concert happening on the beach at Myrtle Beach. Me and a friend snuck in. Asked an older kid who was playing. He turned and said, "Are you kidding? It's ZZ Top man!"
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Been in lots of bands over the years. Blues, Dance/Bar, Acoustic Trio, Rock. I don't play out much anymore. I have been just writing and recording for a few years now.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest was my first paying gig. Played in a blues/rock band with a bunch of older guys who were hard up for a bass player. I never played bass before (forgot to tell them that), but how hard could it be? Borrowed a bass from a friend and learned the songs on the bus. It was some festival out West and I told my parents I was going camping. We were the first act that day. The curtain opened and about 2500 people screamed. I almost pissed my pants! Loved every minute of it after I recovered and the best part was my parents never found out.
