How long have you been playing?
We are all always becoming musicians once we start- its a never ending learning cycle.I guess musicians are born if they hear it in the womb and decide to pursue. withthi in mind i can sayt hatbeing an only child and having been exposed to many kinds of music I guess I began being a WORKING musician in my first year of college..I d been playing about 3 years.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Most memorable first concert would have to be Sly and the Family Stone at the now defunct Singer Bowl- Flushing NY late 1970's. I was impressed by the energy and inspired by seeing women onstage jamming hard as well with their male peers.

What gear do you use?
Music Man 4 Esp4 and 5 , Elrick 5, Fichterbasse electric upright and a German flatback wood 3/4 bass
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
1. My Dad was the son of a Vaudeville musician who played on one of the first recordings
when THAT technology was new in the 1920's. Dad grew up with musicians of the Swing and Bebop Era. He didnt play but definitely was very musical person and could whistle horn solos he loved verbatim.My mom loved down home blues- my babysitter brought in the eclectic stuff and as an only child it was me and the record player on many occasions.
2.All of the jazz musicians who have instructed, encouraged and shared musical stories are my biggest influences- What got my heart was after getting my first clock radio as a teen hearing Jimi Hendrix' Band of Gypsies and Charlie Parker Bird with Strings.

I have been in many bands and started a few on my own. I've played R&B, Blues, Jazz, Latin,Gospel,Classical , Funk, Indian , Rock, New Wave,Hip Hop and Avant Gard.

If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I wouldn't jam I would sit in front , listen and watch and try to understand the logic of their expression. One person who I like to watch play is guitarist Mike Stern for his combination of disciplines. The best person to watch and study with is Dr BArry HArris. No matter what style one plays there is something of a treasure to take awya from a lesson with him. Sometimes we are on OUTPUT when we should be on INPUT ;).
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience I believe I ever played was at the Roskilde Festival with the band Defunkt which I believe was 66000 people wandering in and through giant open tents.The smallest was probably the one inebriated person at a venue post jam session.I look forward to my most memorable performance ;)
