Cello at 5, piano & composing/songwriting at 12, been singing ever since I learned to talk. Studied at Pop & Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki to become a musician (2004-2007).
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Propably being at the backstage of some of my fathers operetto projects (he is also a singer). Not that I remember, I might have been just a baby then.
What gear do you use?
My voice is the most important instrument of course. I haven't found the perfect mic yet! With keyboars I use whatever I happen to have at hand, although I like the "red devil" (Clavia Nord Electro) quite a lot.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Oh dear. I actually grew up listening to boy and girl bands like Hanson and Spice Girls. Anyway, the biggest influences are actually Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley and Erykah Badu...and Bob Marley! They're not the ones that I spent the longest time listening to, but the ones that have the biggest influence.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I play and sing solo gigs and in folk-pop duo/trio Damaru Acoustic. Also performing with Temppeli, a Finnish roots reggae band. They all have shows every once in a while.
I used to be singjay (Letjay) in SavuSound, a Finnish reggae/dancehall/dubstep sound system. Also backround vocals for Jahvice, Temppeli etc.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Jeff Buckley! Unfortunately that will never happen...
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest at Estonian Song Festival (I was in one of the choirs), must have been thousands of people. I've done so many gigs with just a buch of people listening that I can't name one specific! ;)
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
That's easy. Jeff Buckley's Grace. That's the album I'm most obsessed with.
