I have been playing since 6th grade, I wanted to play guitar after hearing Wes Montgomery's album Movin' Wes...
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert I ever went to I was about 11 or 12, and my Dad and Uncle took me to see the late Sonny Stitt at a jazz club in Chicago called the Plug Nickel...that was around 1968/69...I was so impressed, because I listened to this man with my dad all the time, and now to see him in person, kind of blew me away!!!!
What gear do you use?
Ibanez Artcore Series guitar, Roland JC-120 Jazz Amp
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Barney Kessell, Pat Metheny, George Benson
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have been in several bands, but none at present...
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
George Benson...I guess because I've listen to him for so long, that I feel like I would be comfortable playing with him, and then again maybe I would simply freak out over his abilities?
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
A jazz concert in Chicago, several hundred people in the audience...I was the guitarist in the band
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Movin Wes by Wes Montgomery...its simply without a doubt one of my favorite albums because of the tunes he picked, the orchestral and big band cuts...I simply love it....The album was given to my Dad as a gift by my uncle, and I received a Sears acoustic guitar that particular holiday, and that record and that guitar simply inspired me to ask my Dad if I could take guitar lessons..and the rest as they say is history
