The classic Heitor Villa Lobos Prelude. I have been playing this piece off and on for years – rather poorly. It was time to tighten it up and play a bit with it. It was difficult to record: between my flubs, a steady stream of 737s flying overhead, and the “Harleys of spring”, there were many interruptions. Yet here it is. Many thanks to some wonderful tremolo exercises from the incomparable Clive Davies; thank you, I was able to train these jaded muscles to tremolo just a bit for this song.

Pete Murr graciously invited me to add guitar to his basic song as he was working on it. The wonderful Melani Cholie added vocals and melody. My contributions were acoustic guitar and some electric. For those who know Pete’s work, the guitar solo is clearly his! I hope you enjoy the song.

Moonlight on the Bay. Some more random noodling from me, brought to life by the wonderful Melani Cholie. She found a great poem and sang it with the beautiful intimacy that so many of us have heard from her work. Many thanks also to her for creating a lovely video, thus relieving me of the chore!

Etheria My artist friend needed some music for her artwork, so I added some to hopefully accentuate her paintings.

The song was performed only once, at our wedding. (I did not play it, I was occupied. :) ) For my caring and compassionate wife, Judy. She tolerates me spending all that time in the studio-cave and sometimes something good comes out of it. Where You Should be Now Brad O’Neil was kind enough to allow me to add guitar to his song. He did all the production and he was able to take advantage of the fact that we both use the same DAW. It took a bit of time as we both try to follow the 12 hour rule: when adding a track that we think is good, just wait at least 12 hours to hear how it really sounds! Hopefully, it sounds fine to you.

Etude 18: Becoming Spring Mostly written when I was 18, this describes the seasons changing from static Winter to the vitality of Spring. The song starts sedately, then transitions to the busyness of Spring.

A lullaby I wrote when I was 19. It has been rattling around in my head for years, so I added some instruments and the photos from Whidbey Island, close to where I live.
