Philip Glaser - Guitar - "Andante Grazioso" by Mozart, for guitar (played twice) This piece is really for piano - part of Mozart's Piano Sonata no. 11, but sounds nice as a guitar arrangement. The arrangement (with notes and tablature) is from the book "Das Klassische Gitarrenbuch." (If you have the book, there's a tablature error on line 6, the next to the last note.) P.S. I have made some guitar flash cards for learning the notes on the guitar, that get great reviews on the Amazon and Strings by Mail websites. "La Mer" for guitar. This is the famous song composed by Charles Trenet, and there's a great video of him singing it before an audience, on YouTube. I combined two different guitar arrangements, for this. The first part and last part in this video, are from the arrangement that you can get on the My Song Book website (with notes and tablature) for a very low price. For the middle part, I used the arrangement that Jorge Nolla sells - also with notes and tablature - also at a low price. I changed just a few notes to those arrangements, at the beginning and end.

"The Swan," ("Le cygne") (played twice) The second playing is smoother than the first, and is at 2:29 in the video. Not composed for the guitar, this famous piece by Camille Saint-Saens as part of his "The Carnival of the Animals," was composed as a solo piece for the cello. It's also played beautifully on the violin. (Watch some YouTube videos.) I made my tablature version by watching and listening to Yo Yo Ma play it beautifully on the cello (YouTube video). I also used the guitar arrangement sold by Virtualsheetmusic (a $5 download), just as a rough guide, to get the melody notes.

"I'll See You In My Dreams" This great song was written back in 1924, and many artists have recorded it, including Django Reinhardt and Merle Travis. I made a tablature version, after watching a very good instructional video on YouTube, that includes some simple free tablature. To see the instructional video on YouTube, just do a search by writing "LickNRiff - Free Guitar Education. I'll See You In My Dreams." The fellow who does the instructional video shows Merle Travis picking. I tried to play the first half of my video his way, but then at the end did it as a slow version.

"Parlez-moi d'amour" ("Speak To Me Of Love") This song was written by Jean Lenoir, a French songwriter, in 1930. An English translation was written, called "Speak To Me Of Love." It was one of the songs used in the film "Casablanca" and was also used in the Woody Allen film, "Midnight In Paris," and has been performed by many singers and others. I used the simple arrangement from the book "Popular Classics of the Great Composers, volume 4" by Jason Waldron. (no tablature in the arrangement) I made a few small changes to the arrangement, to try to make it a bit more romantic.

"Ave Maria" (Bach/Gounod) for guitar - my "rearrangement." In all of the guitar arrangements of this I have seen, you play sixteenth notes all the way through. I did play it that way, but then after I watched a few YouTube videos of violinists playing this, and also seeing Yo Yo Ma play it on the cello, I thought it would be interesting to try to play it in a different way, and still capture the feel of this great piece of music. The arrangement I used is from a book that is available on the Amazon website - the book is in Japanese, including the cover of the book, and on page 72, it just says "music by Charles Gounod." It doesn't even say "Ave Maria." (The text is in Japanese.) The arrangement in the book has the notes and tablature, but the print in the book is so small you need a magnifying glass to use it. "September Song." This popular song was composed by Kurt Weill (music) and Maxwell Anderson (lyrics)... read more for a Broadway musical of 1938, and written for Walter Huston, who sang it in the musical. It has several lines of introduction before the main theme, that some singers do skip. Some of the YouTube videos do include the introduction. I just play the main theme. This arrangement (with notes and tablature) is from the little book "The Guitar Tablature Library, volume 3." The book is out of print. I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT YOUTUBE HAS REMOVED THE VIDEO. I THINK IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE I WROTE THAT I LIKED THE FREE VERSION MORE THAN THE $3.99 VERSION THAT DOESN'T SHOW FINGERING SUGGESTIONS. THAT'S JUST A GUESS, THOUGH. (A shame - I worked on making an instruction video of the piece, and they removed it.) "Canarios" line by line, slowly, plus the whole piece, slowly, at the end. (A friend suggested that... read more I put the whole piece played slowly, at the end of the video, so I did add that.) (I can't play it smoothly yet, so I just combined the 15 separate video clips to show the whole piece played slowly.) John Williams and others play this famous piece by Gaspar Sanz brilliantly, in videos on YouTube, and they all play it fast. Here's John Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyhF9... To help learn this piece, we amateurs could definitely use a good video of someone playing it slowly, but there aren't any such videos, as far as I can see.So, using the arrangement (without tablature) made by Daniel Savarese, I decided to try to help myself by making a video of the piece played slowly, line by line. (I'm not a guitar teacher, by the way.)Many thanks to Daniel Savarese for putting his arrangement free on the Internet: https://www.savarese.org/music/Canari...(If you need to use tablature, there's an arrangement by Patrick Frances that is almost 100% the same as Daniel Savarese's, and that has tablature. You can get it for $3.99 from Acoustic Guitar Magazine, as a download. The Savarese arrangement is better, though, in one way - it indicates numerous fingering suggestionsSorry that my music blocked the view of my guitar a little, with the first frets of the guitar. I'm not too crazy about this version - but it's an easier version of "Blue Christmas." Skip the first playing in this video, I'd say, and just watch the second playing. Definitely not as great as Elvis' version! The second playing starts at 1:43. (And has a nicer sound if you don't turn up the volume.) :-) Most people probably think of Elvis Presley when they hear this great Christmas song, but it was composed in 1948, and was a hit record for a few other people in 1950, before Elvis recorded it, according to Wikipedia.
