1. I am trying to promote my "Guitar Comfort" Instruction Videos...2. I am also promoting myself as a musician (what every musician needs to do) and I also enjoy "checking out" what other musicians are playing and finding some great talent that needs to be known by others...If my props to them on this website and Facebook can help them, I'm all for it.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I don't remember the year but back then (in the 60s) I had heard about concerts, but was always too busy to go to one, because I was playing in smaller venues like bars, etc and when I switched from R & B music to country, I played at the Jazz Fest with Russ Russell and the Rustlers...on stage one. Since then, I haved played at Bluegrass fests, Blues Fests, Cajun Fests, Zydeco Fests, etc. I guess many of those could be called concerts...many had more than several thousand people in attendance. There was also one, where I "backed up" Sammie Smith in Mississippi and someone told me there were more than 10,000 people in the audience. I have a habit of counting people while I'm playing... and I didn't see more than 7, maybe 8 thousand. :-)
What gear do you use?
I love my Gibsons, but no longer subject them to the abuse of weather changes, smoky bars, etc and now I use several Epiphone SGs and also encourage any "good" guitarists in my audience to "sit-in", and I can leave them on stage without having to "check on them" ever so often when I'm on break, etc.
These "cheaper" guitars take a lot of worry out of my life, and I use my better equipment for recording and photo opps.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Biggest influence growing up...like every one else...Elvis and then the Beatles, I also liked Roy Clark, Duane Eddy, the Ventures and many New Orleans local groups such as the Counts, Corvettes, Jokers, Tommy Ridgley, etc.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
My website: www.RichardRowley.com has a list of names of all the musicians I've played music with....and if there is anyone I left out....please let me know. 504-235-2831
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
How would I be able to play an album on a desert island? :-)
I would most likely grab one of my "originals" and hope to give it to somebody if I get the chance.
