Mark Taylor - Guitar - "Back Home Again" Another song re-visited. This was originally written in June of 2005. My son John had left home, out of state, and we had not seen him for quite awhile. Finally, he was able to come home for a visit. It was so great to see him again. After he left, this song came to me while thinking about the nice visit with him. John was Back Home Again. Originally in the key of E Major, I upped it to F# Major, and added more guitars to it. Thanks to all of you who listen and comment.

"Oh Deer!!" Here is another old acoustic song of mine redone. The original version was never posted for some reason. Two guitars going and a simple drum track. This song got it's name from my wife. I had no name for it originally, and I played it for her and asked what it made her think of. She said she could see deer in the forest running around, so the name Oh Deer came to me. As always, I thank all those that listen and comment.

"Soft Gentle Breeze" Here is another of my past songs, a favorite, that I have redone. Written about 8 years ago, this was inspired by a friend named Tossa whose singing voice I really like, reminds me at times of a Soft Gentle Breeze, hence the song name. To the original I added two more guitars, a simple drum track, and a breeze sound effect, and also a solo during the middle part of the song. This song has two versions, the original was just one guitar. My friend Glenn Basham also did a version for me where he added lyrics. Links to both versions in the comment section. Thanks to all who listen and comment.

"Kathleen's Music Box" This is a song I had written about 8 years ago for a friend of mine who was going through a difficult time. I thought it might cheer her up. Recently I had the idea to revisit some of my old acoustic songs and redo some of them and this one is a favorite so it made the list. I changed the key of the song to a higher register to get more of a music box feel to it, added a second guitar part and a simple drum track and this is the result. And I re-dedicate this to Kathleen. Thanks to all who listen.

"Sur L'océan Couleur De Fer" Mark and Kristen do a cover song from the band Alcest. Alcest is a French post-black metal band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze, founded and led by Neige (Stéphane Paut).[1] It began in 2000 as a black metal solo project by Neige, soon a trio, but following the release of their first demo in 2001, band members Aegnor and Argoth left the band, leaving Neige as the sole member. This song, translated "On the iron-coloured ocean" was inspired by a poem by written by Paul-Jean Toulet. It's meaning has been described as the transition between worlds. The band member who wrote the song was inspired by sitting along the seashore, and this is the result of that. French and English lyrics are provided. We thank you for listening.

"We Are Autumn Leaves" The Moon Shadows The Moon Shadows are back with a new original song composed by Glenn Basham called "We Are Autumn Leaves". The inspiration for the song came to Glenn while travelling to Acadia in Maine in early October of 2021. In fact, the film footage in the video during Mark's guitar solo was taken by Glenn's cell phone filming through the windshield of the car while his wife Sue was driving through Maine on their way to Acadia. "Abstraction" The Great Experiment. Got the idea to try and run my Hurdy Gurdy through my guitar effects box while playing over a fairly simple backing track. The Gurdy is through a distortion effect. This is the result of that, a kind of Abstract sound coming out. "Dave's Ditty" The story behind this one goes all the way back to the early 1980's. My friend Dave Decker, a guitar player also, he had a chord progression he was working on back then for a school project that I thought was really cool sounding. He was playing an open E chord, using just E and B notes, and doing a switch between an F# and G6. I had always liked that progression, and over the years it would pop into my head now and then, especially when I was fooling around with an E chord myself. I had always wanted to do somehting with that, and I finally did just that. I took Dave's progression, and added my own creations to come up with a song around Dave's chords. The song could be called half acoustic, half electric. Dave gave me permission to do so and I am posting the song here. My big thanks to Dave for being my inspiration for this, even though it took me so many years to do something with it!! Dave and I thank you for listening.

"Jars" Mark and Kristen do a cover song from the band Chevelle. This song is off of their fifth album called Sci-Fi Crimes. This song's subject matter reflects the quirky themes of Sci-Fi Crimes. It's very tongue in cheek." We thank all who listen and comment.

"Mark's Music" This song got it's start from a guitar song I had laying around. I wanted to do something with it so I was sitting in my music room thinking about it and noticed my ukelele and mandolin just sitting there. So I got the idea to use them both on this song, along with a harmonica and my Hurdy gurdy. I also used an acoustic and electric guitar on it, as well as my bass. This is the result of adding all those to the fingerstyle song you can hear in the background. Nothing special here, just a simple song in the Key of C major. Still getting used to the Hurdy Gurdy and getting a good sound from it, but I think this sounds well enough. Had no name for it so just called it Mark's Music. Hope someone likes this. Thanks to all who listen and comment.

"Song for Glenn" As I said in my video for my friend Yvalain, Sometimes in life certain people inspire you and just make you feel good inside. Glenn Basham is another one of my friends that fits this profile. Glenn was another of the first people to friend me here online and share his music with me and mine with him. He was also the first to take a song of mine and put lyrics to it and create an entirely new song out of it. He has done this many times now. Glenn and I have collaborated, the two of us for 51 songs, and that does not even count the ones we have both done together with other friends. Glenn is one of the nicest people I have ever come across, never a bad thing to say about anyone, and his talent as a musician is outstanding. So I had to dedicate a song to Glenn to say how much his friendship over the years has meant to me and hoping it continues for a long time to come. Thanks to all who listen and comment.

"Empty Places, Empty Spaces" Here is another song from myself and my friend Kevin under our band name Ryders on The Storm. This is a rather lengthy song, but interesting in that there are several key changes and the song itself sounds a bit odd, and the tempo is a waltz feel. I used a fast tremelo effect for the first time on some of the guitar and the result was very satisfying. Some of the solos really interact well with Kevin's keyboards too. "My Friend Yvalain" an original song by Mark Taylor Sometimes in life certain people inspire you and just make you feel good inside. My Friend Yvalain Debodinance is one such person. A great musician and songwriter. He was one of my first musician friends here online and has always shown me great friendship and support. I have been able to do a lot of collaborations with him and others and I will always be grateful he had faith in me to ask me to join him on all the music we have done together and with others. His music has inspired me, and one song called "Reborn" that he wrote has a riff in it that I have always liked, it stands out to me. I used that riff as the basis for this song, along with variations of it and my own improv. I hope Yvalain and all that listen like what I have done. "The Hell of Niflheim" I had been watching a show called The Last Kingdom, having to do with The Vikings and their mythology and history. I had a song laying around without a title to give to my friend Melani Cholie for our band Faye of Slaughter. I then got an idea in my head after watching a certain episode of the show having to do with the mystical world of Niflheim. Niflheim, Old Norse Niflheimr, in Norse mythology, the cold, dark, misty world of the dead, ruled by the goddess Hel. In some accounts it was the last of nine worlds, a place into which evil men passed after reaching the region of death (Hel). I then tried to write lyrics for the song along the theme of the episode I had watched, and this is the result. My very first song where I wrote the lyrics, and Melani sings them. We hope you all like it and thank you for listening.

"Test Test Enough" This one is a little different. A short song with very few lyrics. It's a cover from the band Chevelle, a band I really like. What drew me to this one was the use of delay on the guitar. It is like using a delay effect for the tempo of the song. I asked my friend Melanie Cholie to sing the lyrics, did not think it would work as an instrumental only. This song is off of Chevelle's latest album called Niratias. Here is another original acoustic guitar song using a spider capo to get an E major tuning. The song is kind of a jumble of guitar sounds, a lot of open strings since only E major and A major 7th chords are used. I have two melodies kind of going against each other, the main parts of the song have a descending melody and an ascending one going with it. The song reminds me of taking a walk, hence the title. "Come Along For The Ride" Another song that started out as a solo spider capo song, I developed it further by adding some strummed chords, an acoustic bass line, and some melody over the main part. The song is another kind of Happy Uplifting one, save for the part where it goes from a major sound to a minor one. As always, I thank you all for listening.

"Fairy Tales" Here is another from Ryders on the Storm. My friend Kevin Kapuscinski once again gave me one of his songs to add to, and this is the result. His song is about religion, about a certain belief, but not to question what God or Jesus is. We hope that this song will find an audience that can relate to the lyrics. I like the lyrics because I think it really exposes the hypocrisy of religion. We thank you for listening.

"The Gist" Here is a cover song from the band Chevelle. Chevelle is an American rock band formed in Grayslake, Illinois, in 1995. The band was originally composed of two brothers Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar) and Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion), along with Matt Scott (bass and backing vocals). Scott was replaced by Sam and Pete's brother, Joe Loeffler in 1996. When Joe left the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo subbed-in as the touring bassist until he was replaced by Pete and Sam's brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini. Bernardini later departed from the band in 2019. In 2021, Kemble Walters joined the band as a touring bassist. This is a band that my daughter Kristen turned me on to. Saw them live in concert a few years back and was floored by the guitar player's talent on stage. To be able to sing, play, and operate what looked to be a complicated floor pedal setup blew me away. This guy Pete Loeffler does some cool and fun to play guitar riffs, and this song here is a short one, but fun to play so I decided to do my own cover of it. It's an instrumental, and is off of their album 12 Bloody Spies, that features B sides and rarities. Hope someone likes this one, it is fun to just make some heavy guitar noise at times.

My friend Kevin Kapuscinski from our group The Moon Shadows asked me to do a side project with him on a song dealing with the sensitive subject of suicide. I agreed and this is the result. Kevin wrote and sang all the lyrics and added some keyboard and a drum track. I added some guitar and bass. We decided to call our two man band Ryders on the Storm, a nod to The Doors. We hope you like our collaboration here.

"Musical Aftermath" This was another solo acoustic guitar song at the start, then I decided to layer some more guitar onto it. Still thought it was missing something, and it hit me that I had not played my Ukelele in long time, so I got it out and put some Ukelele in the background. This is the result. This is in the key of E Minor, so there are a lot of open strings going on. This song sounds best in my opinion through headphones, so use them if you have them. The title kind of came from the mood of the song, reminded me a bit of the aftermath of a moody situation. Had no ideas for the video so I just added some pics of acoustic guitars, music notation, and some Ukeleles. As always, I thank you for listening.

"Smiles Among the Ruins" This song started out as a solo Spider Capo song. I then kind of got the idea to see if I could add more guitar to it. The mood of the song I also thought sort of matched the state of the world we have been living in for the past few years, kind of like living among the ruins. The song also has some bits of happy sounding chords, and it made me think of smiling. So I also got the idea to have some of my friends who have made me smile through their friendship and musical collaborations be in the video I made. They are all The Smiles Among the Ruins. Thanks to all of them. Also, I did something in this one I've never done before, a few times in the song I have two melodies playing together, kind of off of each other. I hope this song finds an audience with my followers and friends. As always, I thank you for listening.

"Find My Way" Paul McCartney's "Find My Way", a cover by Zapple Pie (Glenn Basham, Mark Taylor and Yvalain). Zapple Pie does not usually record covers but the 3 of us happened to be so happy with Sir Paul's latest album "McCartney III" that we decided to go for this song. The video, made in "rockdown", is a tribute to Paul's own music video for that song. No special effects, just us happy to play the song. Thanks for your support

"The Kiss of Venus" Mark and Glenn Basham decided to do their rendition of another new song from Paul McCartney's new "McCartney III' album. They decided to do their rendition of Paul McCartney's song called "The Kiss of Venus". They asked Kristen if she would like to join them and play the harpsichord part and she agreed. Glenn decided not to sing the song in falsetto, but instead, the key of the song was changed to A major instead of being in E major. He also tried to imagine how it might have been done vocally if The Beatles had sung it, so he decided to add vocal harmonies to this rendition. A very enjoyable collaboration! "Noise" Mark and Kristen cover Nightwish again, this one from their latest album “Human. :II: Nature.”. The “noise” which Nightwish talks about in this song is a metaphor for constantly being plugged into the “matrix”. Or a simpler way of putting it is that this song is based on the concept of the modern human dependency on electronic media being a bad thing. And there is a special emphasis on social media, as the band portrays vesting in online personas as being a vain pursuit. So basically what we have here is a song in which the listener is under a constant flux of symbolisms pointing to the aforementioned ideas. And what is all boils down to is the notion that our reliance on computers, televisions and handheld devices has made us lose touch with mother nature. Indeed if we were to turn these appliances off for a decent amount of time we would come to realize “the Earth has a real voice”, as in it creates its own background noise which can get us through the day. As always, we thank you for listening.

"Positive Thinking" This is a song from the group Acoustic Alchemy, It has always been a favorite of mine, the kind of song that always evokes emotions. Acoustic Alchemy is an English smooth jazz band formed in England in the early 1980s by Nick Webb and Simon James. Simon left after two unprofitable albums and was replaced by Greg Carmichael. This is when I thought the band was at it's best, with these two as the main guys. This song here is off of their album of the same name. Sadly, this was the last album that NIck Webb would participate in as he was suffering from pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life in 1998. So this song is especially emotional for me knowing that it was one of Nick's last creations with the group. I asked my friend Mark Fussell to join me in doing this cover and he thankfully agreed. He plays the lead on this plus a cello effect while I play the backing guitar. We both thank you very much for listening.
