a little Wednesday respite, on the day we betrayed the fine Kurdish people. Practice over a simple loop to find some lydian phrases, I liked the sounds and mood I landed on so decided to turn on the laptop and record a few minutes.

Not really a piece, just playing around, a little improv with the boxes, switches, and machines for the hell of it. Entry level looping abuse, pedal dancing, swirly mush, missteps, etc.

A piece intended as background, relaxation, or environment that evolved over a three year period, all based on rain. If rain depresses you please take a pass! This is not what I would present as a serious piece of music or video for it’s own sake, but in the end I enjoy and and so am sharing it. More info and links to the full video are here.

Resulted from some guitar sound experimenting that took on a life of its own. I think it owes more to Jimi's "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)", than the soundscape genre it may seem to sound like initially. Also some classical, including an illusive nod to my favorite childhood Tchaikovsky piano concerto. Entirely made from guitar, effected and otherwise, and drum samples from Bill Bruford's "Packet Of Three" from Twiddly Bits.

I'm putting this up mainly for historical context. Probably 1974, written and recorded at the time to have a demo of my playing. The players are the core of a previous Seattle band called Blue Max, myself, Michael Derosier on drums, Dan Mallory on bass. Michael had joined Heart by this time, I was working with a band called Ears, who were doing a variety of production things in their own studio. Dan and Mike agreed to come in and do the track with me, I taught it to them, we banged the basic out in a couple of takes, I did overdubs, we mixed it, all in about 4 hours. My old friend, the late Kenny Landis, recorded and mixed this. Solos were always off the cuff in those days, it seems all I could do that night were triplet pulloffs. We were all young with limited experience, so it's many obvious failings have to be taken in that context. There are very few, if any, recordings of Blue Max. We went through about 4 singers in the short time I was with them, Eric Peterson (the qua), Tim Orden, Tom Johnson, and Tyrone Miles. All we wanted to do was jam as hard as possible. Despite the band's limitations, it took no prisoners. Period.
For Kenny. We worked late together that night, the 2 of us.
