A few connections with fellow musicians, and a chance to get my music out there for people to see/hear.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
The Beatles. I became a bassist under the influence of Sir Paul.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I'm currently bassist for LeeAnne Savage (Arizona's Sassiest Songstress) and The Tangelos.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Porcupine Tree. I think it would be a dream come true to play in the pocket with Gavin Harrison on drums.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
When I backed my friend Crystal Stark in 2010 along with The Tucson Pops Orchestra, the final attendance count was over 7,000. I'm still amazed...
Haven't we all played to an audience of the bartender and staff, or even just one person, at one gig or another?
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
The Beatles—Abby Road. Their best, riskiest, and sadly, last album. But what a way to go out! Leave them wanting more.
I first heard it before I was even a teenager. I love the way they chose to blend several song fragments together to make several much larger compositions. Sheer genius, to be emulated by nearly anyone with a creative streak. Mainstream pop never really got it.
