I got my first drum kit at the age of ten and soon after I started playing in my first band. In that band there was a young guitar player named Peter Martinsson. As a teenager, I played in several rock band where we did covers by artists like Status Quo, Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. My musical heroes during these years was Deep Purples Ian Paice and Thin Lizzy's Brian Downey. In the mid 1980s, I was inspired a lot of Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie Colaiuta and Dave Weckl and during this this time I went to a musical education. The last twenty five years I have worked as a drum teacher and musician, and I have played in various rock, soul, gospel and fusion projects. I have also done a lot of freelance work and have had the privilege to play behind many of Sweden's top pop and gospel artists: Pernilla Wahlgren, Sophia Kjellgren, Cyndee Peters, Sonja Alden, Sanna Nielsen, Michael Jarlestrand, Anne-Lie Ryde, Per-Erik Hallin, Gladys Del Pilar and the Eurovision song contest winners Carola Haggkvist and Charlotte Perrelli. In early 2011 I got a request from my childhood friend Peter Martinsson, if I wanted to play the drums on some of his songs. The result was the record Guitar State of Mind with Peter Martinsson Group. The album was released on the American label Groove Yard Records in July 2012. It is fantastic to be working with Peter again, and it feels like coming back to my musical roots. Now, in September 2013 PMG working on album number two and we hope it will be published in summer 2014.
The following text is from Plebb records home page:
"Peter Martinsson Group (or PMG for short) is a musical project that started in 2011 and is run by and featuring the guitarist Peter Martinsson and the drummer Ulf Becker.
Their music is generally instrumental and is indeed a good catch for lovers of electric and instrumental guitar music. The music spans from heavy rock over the blues to the jazz rock. For guitar lovers that would like to extend their collection with another great and broad musician, PMG is indeed a valuable choice. Peter Martinsson is certainly in line with great guitarists like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Lukather just to mention a few.
Their first album Guitar State of Mind was released in 2012 at the American label Grooveyard Records. An album where also Per-Martin Petersson was part playing the bass. In 2014 their second CD album No Grey was released as a private press and are now during 2015 issueing their lastest creations on Plebb Records on digital media.
Peter Martinsson grew up in the town of Mnsters from where all the participating musicians in this project are coming from. Peter Martinsson has gone back to his musical roots and to his home town by bringing in two of his early playmates Tommy Gustavsson (keyboard) and Kent Sandelius (bass) for these recordings. Just to broaden the process creating and arranging new music Peter says."
