JIM JENKIN - Songwriter, Guitar, Keyboard
Written by Jim Jenkin
Produced by Pierre Rosique and Jim Jenkin
Jim Jenkin: guitars and Keyboards
Pierre Rosique: Keyboard and sound fx.
I sent Brother Pierre the other lost track from my "In The Fall" sessions and like the master he is, he added his unique genius to it. and returned this end result. I wish the quality of my tracks were better. They were rescued from an old cassette of the unfinished mix. Thank you Pierre! My brother, my captain!

FAIRY TALES FOR BRAVE HEARTS:
Stories by the Brother's Grimm
Amy and I have decided to upload our Fairy Tales CD to Reverbnation.com.
http://www.reverbnation.com/amycrown3
You can stream them for free and if you'd like to download them, they're 99 cents a track and half the money goes to clean water charities. Any other money collected will be used to help fund future Storytelling projects.
You can also buy the cd, 15 stories in all and runs over 2 hours in length from itunes and Amazon.com for 9.99.
RTE 1 Radio in Ireland has created a one hour special on this project. No airdate has been set yet but we've told there will be at two broadcasts. More details as we get them.
So please stop by, enjoy the stories and if the mood strikes, download one or two of them, it's for a good cause.
Please remember to "fan" the page, if you'd be so kind. Enjoy!
Peace,
Jim

A poster from the gig that wasn't. Made by Mike Viscardi. This would have been our first real gig, May 20... read more,1987, but we were running late and when we called to ask for directions, we forgot to tell them who we were and that we were running a little late for check in but that we'd be there in time for the show. When we got there, at least a dozen friends in tow, they said "sorry, we thought you guys were a no show so we replaced you on" Funny now, but I was pissed as hell back then, because I was telling the band member who called "tell them who we are!"

Miles and Chester in Dr. Root's garden
Stealing cabbages and corn
Keeping eyes out for the tractor
Filling up their bags with pilfered harvest
In the marinated morning of potential disaster
Miles and Chester in Dr. Root's garden
Miles and Chester in Dr. Root's garden
"Got a wife and seven kids to feed
And with the seeds, I'll plant and farm
He's got lots of vegetables and me and Chester
Don't mean him no harm"
Sue and Edna in Dr. Root's back shed
Tearing off wings off little flies
Smoking fags behind the tool bench
Singing as they gaily burn the barn down
Running gigglingly outside
Having salvaged but a pipe wrench
Sue and Edna in Dr. Root's back shed
Sue and Edna in Dr. Root's back shed
"We've got nothing else but to amuse ourselves
In funky little ways
Dr. Root can buy a dozen barns with all the taxes he don't pay"
Dr. Root inside his secret chamber
Raising bottles of disease
To destroy the world that made him
To his mind, his stock is lamer
But his work has made him pleased
He is now prepared to play them
Sue and Edna in Dr. Root's back shed
Sue and Edna in Dr. Root's back shed
"They've been on my back for years
And now my little helpers are escaping
Everyone soon will be quite sorry
For the trouble they've been making"
"We're sorry, Dr. Root"
"We're sorry, Dr. Root"
Bwa-Ha ha ha ha!

MATRIX
*I want to give Brother Mike Viscardi a shout out on this song for his ceaseless support and freindship.. thanks Mike
Lyrics and Melody: Melani Cholie
Music and arrangement: Jim Jenkin
Melani Cholie: lead and backing vocals
Jim Jenkin: guitars, keyboards, electronic percussion, bass, backing vocals and sound fx
Andy Gay: backing vocal
Marc Roberge: lead guitar
The way that I see is the way that I feel is the way that I touch is the way the Matrix tells me
and the way that I live is the way that I give is the way that I can finally understands
It´s just a dream that I live in
It´s just the machine that is driving
Here I am
Here I am
The smell of my food and the taste of a fruit it is perfume of illusion
progress of time as a nickel as a dime, it´s just a blind illusion
Here I am and in need to follow the white rabbit
Here I am and I need to find my way out of here
The smell of my food and the taste of a fruit it is perfume of illusion
progress of time as a nickel as a dime, it´s just a blind illusion
Here I am and in need to follow the white rabbit
Here I am and I need to find my way out of here
I´m in a machine / it´s not a dream
We are in a machine
The way that I see is the way that I feel is the way that I touch is the way the Matrix tells me
and the way that I live is the way that I give is the way that I can finally understands
We're in a machine
The way that I see is the way that I feel is the way that I touch is the way the Matrix tells me
and the way that I live is the way that I give is the way that I can finally understands

SHINE ON
Lyrics: Melani Cholie
Music and Additional Lyrics: Jim Jenkin
Our love flows like the river
And it blossoms with the sun
We praise the shelter, I need connection
I see confession in your eyes
Shine on my light shine on...shine on
Did you recently receive my little letter?
Wrote on a seagull wing and sent thru wind and rain
I wanna turn the page and gem you with a flower
Shine on my light ......shine on
Shine on my light ..... shine on
Colored breeze in gentle nature
Those are the days for times to come
Did you recently receive my little letter ?
Wrote on a seagull wing and sent thru wind and rain
I wanna turn the page and gem you with a flower
So shine on my light ....shine on
Shine on my light ....shine on
We knot friendship for our pleasing
and it is us who take the reins
Shine, shine, shine on
I wrote a loveletter
Shine, shine, shine on
I wrote a loveletter
Shine, shine, shine on
Shine on

BURNING FIRE
Melani Choile: Lead and backing vocals
Andy Gay: Drums
Jim Jenkin: keyboards
We’re walking our way, we hardly hesitate
Slowly dim the fire, it is time to say goodbye
I’m sure I have to leave, and you, you need to stay
Please blow out the candle light for a last kiss it´ s to late
It s like burning fire, in our anxious little hearts
But we need to discover the world before its gone apart
We hope we didn’t hurt you, with a trip right to the heart
Now take your coat and guide us, a new day has to start
Time to say goodbye now, so keep us in your mind
We drove you off your path, for just a little time
it´s like burning fire in our anxious hearts
it´s like burning fire
Hope you had some joy, maybe we could guide you
From your boring days, which baits to fly away
Its like burning fire,
Its like burning fire,
Its like burning fire,
Its like burning fire,
And it burns

EYES OF BROWN
Words and Music: Jim Jenkin
There are sometimes baby, sometimes when I look at you.
There are certain things, yeah baby, certain things I want to do.
Girl you know it so you tease, we talk about the birds and the bees
You shy away from my longing stare
Come on, come on baby let me show you there
When I go out to look around
I rely on my eyes of brown
Closely examine what I’ve found
My eyes of brown have never let me down
I’ve got the hands but baby you tell the time
I hold the gold cup baby but you’re the one who pours the wine
If you want a puppet there no strings on me
Why should I sit home while you run free?
Oh baby don’t you hesitate, I don’t know much more I can take
When I go out to look around
I rely on my eyes of brown
Closely examine what I’ve found
My eyes of brown have never let me down
(Albert’s killer lead break)
When I go out to look around
I rely on my eyes of brown
Closely examine what I’ve found
My eyes of brown have never let me down

Lyrics: Melani Cholie
Music: Jim Jenkin
Melani Cholie: Lead and Backing vocals
Jim Jenkin: Backing vocals, Guitar, bass, guitar synth, Keyboards, percussion
Andy Gay: drums
It´s just a rainy day. It´s just a rainy day
It´s just a rainy day. Another rainy day
People getting wet by walking down in the rain
Heavy drops are falling umbrellas completely in vain
All the flowers need, and the peas need, all the apples need,
and trees and birds and bees, we all need sometimes ...a little rain
All the roses need, and the cattle needs, and the apples need,
and trees and birds and bees, we all need sometimes ...a little rain
It´s just a rainy day. It´s just a rainy day
It´s just a rainy day. Another rainy day
People going crazy by dancing in the pouring rain
Spending time together in a music summer jam
It´s just a rainy day. It´s just a rainy day
It´s just a rainy day. Another rainy day
It´s just a rainy day.
It´s just a rainy day
It´s just a rainy day.

I was going to through some cassettes and I found this nugget. The 4 track master was eaten in the machine back in the 90's when I recorded it and I thought it was lost forever. Forgive the fidelity... it was a rough mix and unlike many of my cassettes, this one didn't hold up as well as most. Still, I think it's worth posting. A dying city a religion of the past
A port of romance with a heavy smelling dust
Milky waters on a morbid colored place
Plastic garbage cans, just a human waste
Who will save the world?
In Venice… where charming water channels flow
Who will save the world?
In Venice … holy dead lagoon
By exploring all your facets
I´m getting lost and scared
Wake up from your lulling sleep
but you are lost its not me
Venice charming water channels
Wake up from your lulling sleep
blending illusion you´re smelling,
but you are lost its not me
Who will save the world?
Who will save the world?
Who will save the world?

THE WAY TO THE LIGHT
Lyrics: Melani Cholie
Music: Jim Jenkin
Roses without a thorn, surviving in the storm
Lay down with the wind in your morning,
riding on a chord into your day
See the city grows around, it swallows your way
You try to swim in the race but you fail to enter the fray
Hoooohooohoo on the way to the light
Hoooohooohoo as I sailed out of fight
Hoooohooohooo I feel the pulse in my vein
Hoooohooohooo and now I am flying again
In this crazy burned out city, I was fighting all alone, a crazy race thru space and time, demons abound
All the way thru crowded streets, hurt and smashed to ground , turning down relying on your own sound
Way down with the waves into the ocean
carry your dream throughout to the stars
You can´t hide the way of endless desperation
And you can´t stand if they tearing your roots out of the ground
Hoooohooohoo on the way to the light
Hoooohooohoo as I sailed out of fight
Hoooohooohooo I feel the pulse in my vein
Hoooohooohooo and now I am flying again
Roses without a thorn, survived in the storm
Lay down with the wind in your morning,
riding on a chord into your day.
Hoooohooohoo on the way to the light
Hoooohooohoo as I sailed out of fight
Hoooohooohooo I feel the pulse in my vein
Hoooohooohooo and now I am flying again

I’m waiting for the day to change
I’m sitting here waiting for the day to change my ways
I read a book of fables, Good News for Modern Man,
about a man who knew the answer, man who had the master plan…
If you understand
He said the Eagle must spread it’s wings straighten up and fly right.
He said that he could prove that God really was American
I’m waiting for the day to change
I’m sitting here waiting, waiting for that sunny day to change my ways,
but I never do.
Rules of religion, laws of the lamb, Won’t God accept for the way that I am?
Not if I listen to this TV preacher man, who just got caught having a scandalous one night stand. Is that what his God demands?
He said the Eagle must spread it’s wings straighten up and fly right
He said that he could to prove that God really was an American
I’m waiting for the day to change
I’m sitting here waiting, waiting for that sunny day to change my ways, but I never do,
I wish it would
Maybe some autumn evening, when the days are in their last...
A man comes from the sunset, he’s a legend from the past.
Some heads will turn in wonder,
others hang their heads in shame...
When the man who knows the answer, comes to stake to His claim.
Do you know his name?
Do you know his name?
Do you know his name?
He said the Eagle must spread it’s wings straighten up and fly right.
He said that we’re all wrong because God is not an American
Oh no

SILVER MOON
Words and melody by Melani Cholie
Music By Jim Jenkin
I didn´t sense that you will leave to walk along the silver moon
But I remember I was told that one day you will be gone
All those years I trusted Grandpa´s love next door
I was guarded and things were always safe
I felt fine, I felt your love down to the core
your wisdom kept this child strong and brave
When your skin turned into pale for sailing to the silver moon
You were shifted by the light, you left your tax behind
I ´ll make sure you know my love will never die
What else to share to ease to your final way
When you walk on you´ll reach the end of space time
I´m gonna hold you but I can´t help but cry
OHOHOOH – OHOHOOH – OHOHOOH -- OHOHOOH
You won´t wake up in the morning light
You will never share my time again
My little hand in yours protecting as my guide
Don´t walk too fast cause I am by your side
We share so much likeness, we were never apart
The strength inside of you, shone right through
The peace you gave me, knowing you would always love me
Your little girl forever, it´s the way it will always stay
OHOHOOH – OHOHOOH – OHOHOOH -- OHOHOOH
I didn´t sense that you will leave to walk along the silver moon
But I remember I was told that one day you will be gone
All those years I trusted Grandpa´s love next door
I was guarded and things were always safe
I felt fine, I felt your love down to the core
your wisdom kept this child strong and brave

GOOD GOD: WHiTEBREAD LIVE August 1987
Some videos clips from a very ambitious show we put on in the summer of 1987. This was the first time we played this song live, having only come with it a few months before. We had a 40 ft projections screen behind us, Two 20 foot screens on the side, full light show. The sound is from a 2 track cassette recorder with 2 PZM mics next to the sound mixing stage. It took us weeks of planning, and days of setting up... only to have the cops come and shut us down after about 8 songs. Forgive the lame VHS quality and the super 8 footage that was shot during the same few weeks. CHANJAM, as it became to be known as because it was in Chan's natural amphitheater backyard, is the performance that truly gave birth to WHiTEBREAD and got us motivated to do our first big push for gigs in early 1988. Great times with great friends. I hope you'll enjoy this trip in the wayback machine

GREEN GIRL
Words by Simian Crease
Music By Jim Jenkin
Simian Crease: lead vocal, accent guitar
Jim Jenkin: backing vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards
Art Owens: Horns
Andy Gay: Drums
This is the one about the green girl
who came to me in a silver ring, girl.
She was levitating over concrete
when I asked if she'd let me take her for a twirl.
She said I only came here for a lollipop
but I took one too many
now I can't stop, oh.
I only came here for a lollipop
but I took one too many
now I can't stop, oh.
Can't stop my
green girl, green girl.
Green girl, green girl.
My green girl, green girl.
Green girl...
Let's take a twirl...
Beneath the fountainette,
a mountain and a stream.
As small as we could get,
two garden figurines...
I only came here for a lollipop
but I took one too many
now I can't stop, oh.
Wanted a little now I got a lot.
Yeah, one too many
now I can't stop, oh.
Can't stop my
green girl, green girl.
Green girl, green girl.
My green girl, green girl.
Green girl...
Let's take a twirl...
This is the one about the green girl.
My little fevered dream girl.
Beneath the fountainette,
a mountain and a stream.
As small as we could get,
garden figurines...
I only came here for a lollipop
but I took one too many
now I can't stop.
Much too much and I can't hit that spot.
Yeah, I took one too many
now I can't stop, oh.
Can't stop my
green girl, green girl.
Green girl, green girl.
My green girl, green girl.
Green girl.
Let's take a twirl...
My green girl, green girl.
Green girl, green girl.
My green girl, green girl.
Green girl...
Let's take a twirl...

THIS IS WHiTEBREADWritten and performed by Jim Jenkin
This was part of Whitebread's press kit in 1990, that also contained our "UV's video (at the bottom of my page) and "Alphabet Town" (also on this page) I thought I'd post this to buy some time to finish up the other half dozen projects that will heading this way soon. LOL! You may notice the music sounding familiar. This was my first recording of "More than Once, (no vox) which will be the B-side of single (as in vinyl) that is being released in South Asia on Jan 7th. My Mind Aches For You will be the A - side.

BY THIS RIVER
Composed by Brian Eno
Performed by Jim Jenkin
Brian Eno will probably be remembered most for his work as a founding member of Roxy Music and as a producer who worked with icons like David Bowie, U2, and Talking Heads. But in the mid-1970s, when progressive rock bands like Yes, ELP, Genesis, and Rush were trying to fit as many notes as possible into their songs, Brian Eno was playing an important role in the modern minimalist music scene. Albums like Another Green World and Before and After Science weren't being played on the radio, but music critics were well aware of this man's genius, which could be best summed up with the quote, "the amount of notes you play isn't important, it's the space between them that counts." That quote had a huge impact on me as a self-taught beginner. I thought to myself, “Hmm, maybe I can make music, too," and started writing and recording my own music with whatever instruments I could get my hands on, overdubbing one cassette tape over another. It was pure noise, but also pure fun.
Since discovering Eno in high school (thanks to Carl Cirillo), I have recorded over 200 songs, but only about a dozen of them have been covers. If you're looking for flashy musicianship, this ain't it. I added two simple keyboard lines to his song because it's my feeling that if you're going to record a cover, you may as well add a little bit of yourself to the mix.
Brian Eno is still a major player in the industry today, and still a major influence on my music. I hope you'll enjoy my tribute to him.

Fending off waves of strange memories
The things that we said while we were lying in bed...
I feel you drifting away
If only I, if only I could fight the tide
The things that you said constantly filling my head...
I just can't get out of bed
My mind aches for you
My mind aches for you
My mind aches for you
My mind aches for you
Thoughts if you fill my head
The things that you but promised me, hold me
My heart pounds with the waves
The rhythms are syncopated
When I think of you I'll remember the sea
Our rhythms were syncopated
My mind aches for you
My mind aches for you
My mind aches for you

Oh so you're spiraling downward
into the white sand that started the slide
Falling faster and faster
dependent on a drug to get you by
Take a powder young man
Your whole life is down the tubes
Blew your week's pay on cocaine
It should've never happened to you
Occasional use became reckless abuse
You hung yourself in toot's tight noose..
You knew better but you didn't care...
You have no motivation, dirty clothes and greasy hair
Crime wave come they come in a flood
Find your buddy in a puddle of blood
Downtown the scene ain't too pretty
Life's a drag in this tired city, so.
Take a powder young man
Whatever happened to you?
In between the toes, no one knows
That should hide your bloody nose
You were still OK when you used a blade
You had it all, you had it made
You knew that spikes meant addiction, but it's over now... cocaine conviction
No sense of purpose, sinking below the surface
You just can't seem to get a grip,
You're hanging on by your figertips...
More white bags ... riches to rags
More white bags ... riches to rags
More white bags ... riches to rags
More white bags ... riches to rags
Hoping to break from your prison cell
You couldn't cope with the dope
Now you're stuck in a deep, damp well
Until someone throws you down a rope
Take a powder

When I've got nothing, I got nothing else to do ...
I can relax to TV's panoramic views
I'm up at 6am, to see the flag unfurl
Through my electronic box, well, I can see the world
Politics on TV begin to drag me down, man I've got the longest face and I wear the saddest frown
But nothing's sadder, sadder than my blues, with the exception of this morning's news
Good god
I get information on the latest confrontations, please stay tuned for a live demonstration
My television tells me all I need to know, if I don't like what I see, well I just change the show.
I see little Tommy, little Sally, little Joe. I see them on their little kiddie show.
Comical commercials, buy this paper towel. You buy them all, it's Tylenol, what's your poison pal?
It's a Declaration of a new kind of war. Poison every item, every shelf, every store.
But nothing's sadder, sadder than my blues with the exception of the news at noon.
Declaration of a new kind of war. Poison every item, every shelf, every store.
But nothing's sadder, sadder than my blues with the exception of the evening news
Good god
Now my day is over and all my work is through, I can relax to TV's panoramic view.
Late night I watch Jimmy, sometimes I watch Dave or switch over to the Kramdens to see Ralph rant and rave!
I see a man of cloth; he's wearing fancy suits, while Joel Olsteen prays for his loot.
I'm flipping through the channels, video eyed, when I saw old yeller die well I just cried and cried.
No matter how I try I can't break it loose. I'm like a junky, an alkie needs his "juice"
'cuz nothing's sadder, sadder than my blues, with the exception of tomorrow's news
Good god!
Good god!
Good god!
Good god!

Words and Music: Andy Gay
Produced and arranged by Jim Jenkin
One from Andy’s “unfinished folder”. We recorded the backing tracks on an eight track in 1997. Then, like so many songs, it never went any further. This is another example of how great Fanda is because
Through Fanda, we met Jay and Pat whose contributions made this song possible to finish. Thanks to all involved! Seven musicians from three countries made this possible. How cool is that?
We hope you enjoy this one!

Summer nights were wild and free,
rainy days we'd hang around and watch TV
You whispered to me something from a movie
the way you said it, it still gets through to me
Getting ready you'd sing a song,
I fell in love with you right there putting your makeup on
Midnight, candlelight rooftop picnics,
you'd go alone to the latest chick flicks
Somehow you knew that I'd be waiting for you
Somehow you knew just exactly what I'd do
I'd never say that you didn't care
I think you did cuz you were always there
But you left and caught me off guard
You never knew that I took it so hard
You had me in the palm of your hand
You had your fun, now I understand
Got a bottle, your parents gone,
We seemed to make a big impression on the neighbors lawn
Sunset, seaside, wet sand, tan lines,
you said you'd meet me by the boardwalk beer sign
Somehow you knew that I'd be waiting for you
Somehow you knew just exactly what I'd do

TURN MY SCREWS
Lyrics: Simian Crease
Music: Jim Jenkin
From the "road not taken" file... lol!
This was one of the directions I was thinking about taking "Fix Your Broken Parts" in ... after Simian and I finished that one up, I sent him this track. He came up with the idea to use this track as a sequel, wrote some new lyrics, added his magical phaser guitar bits and lead break and s and asked his lovely wife Reyna sing along with us. We hope you enjoy it!

Turn My Screws
Your lips are cherry red.
Oh, I want to kiss you
.Hair so black and wiry.
And my skin is slick and pale blue.
Your mind is open, too.
Oh, I want to fix you.
Yes, my heart is broken.
I can hear it in your heartbeat, slow and out of rhythm.
I could use a little tweaking.
Oh, my mind is open. And I want you to fix me…
Turn my screws, turn my screws, turn my screws.
Just one kiss and I am fixed.
Turn my screws…Ooh-ooh-ooh…
For so long it’s been a blur.
You suffered through the humdrum.
Biding my time alone, waiting here for someone. A little, plastic lover to save you from your boredom.
Just a twist of your wrist.
And a bit of concentration.
A kiss will do the trick.
Oh, all these new sensations. So soft and synthetic. You are my new fixation…
Turn my screws, turn my screws, turn my screws.
Just one kiss and I am fixed.
Turn my screws…I know what I have to do…
Turn my screws,
turn my screws,turn my screws.
Just one twist of your wrist.
Turn my screws…Ooh-ooh-ooh…
Your lips are cherry red.
Oh, I want to kiss you.
Skin is slick and pale blue.
My mind is open, too.
So take me to the tower.
Oh, and I will fix you.
Turn my screws, turn my screws, turn my screws.
Just one twist of your wrist.
Turn my screws…I know what I have to do…
Turn my screws, turn my screws, turn my screws.
Can’t resist this tryst, just fix me.Turn my screws…I know what I have to do…Ooh-ooh-ooh…

Another one from the "unfinished folder". One of the first songs I ever wrote. I rerecorded it years ago, with very sophomoric lyrics... gave to Simian. Looky what he done!
Fix Your Broken Parts
Words by Simian Crease
Music By Jim Jenkin
Simian Crease: Lead and backing vocals, guitar
Jim Jenkin: Backing vocals, keyboards, percussion
When the time is right
I'll take you to the tower.
Under green, fluorescent lights,
fritter away the hours.
Touch your plastic skin,
imagine where you've been...
You came to me in pieces,
shrink-wrapped and suspended.
Just like Jesus,
you were damaged in shipment.
O, object of my affection,
this will be your resurrection...
(chorus)
Fix your, fix your, fix your
broken parts.
But I'll leave your
little mind open...
Life is difficult,
soon you'll understand.
So many obstacles.
Hoops and wires and quicksand.
For now, you're just a project,
my broken, plastic object...
I suppose I'm broken, too.
No one here to fix me.
Broken, just like you.
Perhaps one day you will be
the one who turns my screws.
'Til then I know just what to do...
(chorus)
Fix your, fix your, fix your
broken parts.
But I'll leave your
little mind open...
I'll take you to the tower,
under green, fluorescent lights.
Put you back together.
I will make it right.
So much yet to discover,
my broken, plastic lover...
(chorus)
Fix your, fix your, fix your
broken parts.
But I'll leave your
little mind open...

This represents a two firsts for me... its the first time I ever completely handed over a song to another person and it;s the first song I have ever appeared on that I didn't produce entirely. What a liberating feeling and experience! THANK YOU PIERRE!
I remember happy days.
My mother held a merry-go-round, the lover’s merry-go-round.
It began its fantastic round in my awakening, and I saw in the blue of my mother eyes cross the most wonderful objects and characters.
My preference went to the blue horse which I abandoned by sometimes for a silvery rocket stamped with fallen stars.
I remember happy days
My mother went with these beautiful blue eyes on the blue sea there. I see her leaving on this yellow boat enhanced in its bow of dolphin painted in the fine gold. The merry-go-round always turns. We heard its melancholic jingle expressed by the affected machine.
An old sir sits on the blue horse. He looks at me with a shy smile. But I’m not sure his empty glance is for me.
I remember the happy days.

Written and produced by Jim Jenkin
I sent Jay this song, he gave me tons of ideas for melodies. I wrote some lyrics and Jay added his magical voice to them and some nice guitar fills along the way. I added my vocal to his ... hoping not to ruin his in the process. :-)

I've loved you all my life
took another wife...
and my sorrow clearly shows
I know, you know
that it's all about the show
Now we just pretend
pretending we're just friends...
and we hope that no one knows
It doesn't matter anyway
you're so far away
What more needs to be said?
I sleep with a stranger in my bed
You were my first dance
never thought I had a chance...
and then decades slipped away
When I came around
you were looking to be found...
and we both changed our ways
So I wrote this song, full knowing that it's wrong...
I just can't help myself
I know, you know
that my love would surely grow
It doesn't matter anyway
you're so far away
What more needs to be said?
I sleep with a stranger in my bed
I'm looking so far ahead
guided by your smile in my head
As I hit my stride, you always say goodbye...
my disappointment is hard to hide
I watch you disappear, the picture is so clear...
or some lyric just as snide
I could not resist a kiss from your soft lips...
How did I ever let you go?
I know, you know
that it's time to let it go
time to go our separate ways
we'll meet again someday
What more needs to be said?
I sleep with a stranger in my bed
goodbye my love
goodbye my love

I’m Waiting (demo version)
Words and Music by Jim Jenkin
I wrote this song and recorded this 4 track cassette version WAY back in 1989. Inspired by a Ferlinghetti poem. An updated version is in the works.
Jim Jenkin: guitars, vocals …. Andy Gay: Drums… Channon Reed: Bass... Jim Cavanaugh: Congas … Albert Desoto: Lead solo
I’m waiting for the day to change
I’m sitting here waiting for the day to change my ways
I read a book of fables, Good News for Modern Man,
about a man who knew the answer, man who had the master plan…
If you understand
He said the Eagle must spread it’s wings straighten up and fly right.
He said that they’d try to prove that God really was American
Oh no

No Deposit, No Return
Words and Music by Jim Jenkin
Another one from my "unfinished folder" I recorded this years ago but wasn't happy with my vocal. I sent it to Jay, and he knocked it out in no time... and added a really nice lead guitar too. Thanks Jay and Andy for helping finish this old relic.
Jay Lemay: Lead vocal and guitar
Jim Jenkin: Backing vocals, guitars, bass and percussion
Andy Gay: backing vocal and drums
I'm sorry I came dressed so bad
My guts are on the outside,
I wear my heart on my sleeve.
Nothing seemed to jive.
I feel sorrier for me, than I do for you
But I'll be ok
No deposit, no return
looking for a custom made fit
in an off the rack world
I'm sorry I came dressed so bad
My guts are on the outside,
I wear my heart on my sleeve.
Nothing seemed to jive.
I'll be ok, someday
I'll be ok
No deposit, no return
looking for a custom made fit
in an off the rack world

Summertime: a fun little video to kick off the summer. I hope you'll enjoy it. Peace!
Written, produced and edited by Jim Jenkin
I love the summertime
I'll love her some other time
Look into a lemon drop sun
and dream of an easy life
and smile, 'cuz it's the summertime
Summertime, you will be mine
Summertime, you will be mine
You say you want me but you need to be free.
I say go where you want to go and be who you gotta be
Catching fireflies in a jar
Dream of a country house
and smile, 'cuz it's the summertime
Look into a lemon drop sun
and dream of an easy life
and smile, 'cuz it's the summertime
Summertime, you will be mine
Summertime, you will be mine

Let's Pretend
Music By Jim Jenkin
Lyrics By Simian Crease and Jim Jenkin.
Jim Jenkin: vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion, drum programming and sound fx.
Simian Crease: vocals, guitar
I wrote this song and had the chorus all worked out about a decade ago ... and then it sat. I sent it to Simian and not only did he pick up on my theme instantly but he also wrote and sang the verses, adding some tasty guitar licks while he was at it.
Thanks Simian, I couldn't have finished this without all your help!
You like me
'cause, just like you,
I don't like myself.
My father's nose,
my mother's woes.
Oh, you see the parallels.
But we don't have to breathe this air,
the city smoke and deep despair.
Throw away your worries
and your cares and
let's pretend...
Let's pretend we're in a submarine,
on a voyage to the bottom of the sea.
Maybe we'll find ourselves a treasure
to divvy up between you and me.
You can pretend to be a mermaid
'cause you're my chicken of the sea.
And I'll pretend to have the fish at my command,
just like Aquaman...
When I was young
I saw myself
alone forevermore.
My backyard wrapped
around the world
and right to my front door.
But I've grown older and I see that
misery loves company and
I like you 'cause you're like me and
neither of us are who we want to be and...
Let's pretend we're on a TV show,
or maybe on the silver screen.
Making love like the movie stars
acting out our favorite scenes.
Maybe you can win the Oscar
with a wink and some sleight of hand.
And maybe I can pull it all together
and win the role of leading man...
You like me
'cause I'm like you and
I like you 'cause you're like me and
a spinning wheel,
or planets reeling...
reeling from their own gravity and
maybe everything that felt so wrong
was right all along and,
if that's the case, then close your eyes and
baby, let's pretend...
Let's pretend we're in a submarine,
on a voyage to the bottom of the sea.
Maybe we'll find ourselves a treasure
to divvy up between you and me.
You can pretend to be a mermaid
'cause you're my chicken of the sea.
And I'll pretend to have the fish at my command,
just like Aquaman...
Let's pretend we're on a TV show,
or maybe on the silver screen.
Making love like the movie stars
acting out our favorite scenes.
Maybe you can win the Oscar
with a wink and some sleight of hand.
And maybe I can pull it all together
and win the role of leading man...
Let's pretend...

BABY, YOU’RE SO FINE
WORDS AND MUSIC: JIM JENKIN
Baby, you’re so fine
I think about you all of the time
You’re always on my mind girl
I want you by my side, yeah
You drive me crazy, don’t you know?
You’re driving me mad
I want to be with you my love
I want you bad
Girl why won’t you look at me
I like your style, I like what I see
Baby I’ll treat you like a Queen
I’ll build you a castle and everything
Yeah
You drive me crazy, don’t you know?
You’re driving me mad
I want to be with you my love
I want you bad
Girl I want you here with me
By my side, you always will be
Baby if you treat me like a king
I’ll give you what you want if you want things
I look for you everyday girl
I even go out of my way
With my stupid tricks my tongue feels thick
I wish I had something to say
Or maybe we could be alone, I’m quite a guy when I get home
Yeah
You drive me crazy, don’t you know?
You’re driving me mad
I want to be with you my love
I want you bad
Girl I want you here with me
By my side, you always will be
Baby I’ll treat you like a Queen
I’ll build you a castle and everything
Baby, you’re so fine
I think about you all of the time
You’re always on my mind girl
I want you by my side, yeah
Baby baby you’re so fine girl
Always on my mind girl
One of a kind in the world girl
I look for you everyday girl
I even go out of my way
With my stupid tricks my tongue feels thick
I wish I had something to say
I think about you all the time
I think about you all the time
I think about you all the time
I think about you all the time

ME AND MY SHADES
WORDS AND MUSIC: JIM JENKIN
SIMPLE LITTLE POP DIDDY,
I HOPE YOU ENJOY ;-)
I saw you look my way
I saw you wearing those shades
I was up and about on a sunny day just making my way into town
With my air conditioned sneakers I'm sneaking a peek at the girls in summer shorts, strolling around.

I wouldn't trade my beautiful shades

NASTY HABIT
WORDS AND MUSIC: JIM JENKIN
A simple little rocker.
I've got a nasty habit baby
it keeps me up at night
A nasty habit baby
you better turn off your bedroom light
Well, rich boys can make it look so easy, have all the dough, put on a big show.
I'm not made of money but I have my dreams so I peek through your bedroom window and I...
I don't know why I like it
You really turns me on
I like it, oh feels good
You really turns me
I don't know why
I don't know why I like it
You really turn me on
but I like it, it feels good
But I don't know why

YOU LOOK NICE TODAY
MUSIC AND WORDS BY
JIM JENKIN and PAUL DiORIO
One of my all time favs to play live back in the day.
We usually saved for our last number and went crazy!
She walked by and I said hi
But then I wondered why, why, why
After I try, try, try, try, try, try, try
Hey, you know? Me?
No, not really.
Hey, you know?
NO!!!!
I saw her one day on the golf course
She smiled a smile that was well, kinda f-f-f-forced
She don’t even give me a glance ‘cuz I’m not worth the chance
I don’t even warrant her arrest though I try, try, try
Well I try my fucking best
Hey, you know?
Me? No, not really.
Hey, you know?
HECK NO!!!!
Your cheeks look rosy, they’re usually flush
They look good, are you wearing blush?
Turn down your lips, they’re red as brick
I’m I mistaking or is that lipstick?
I’ve never seen a girl wear so much mascara
You look nice today are you wearing make up Tara?
Why do you look better, I don’t know
I like the color of your eye shadow
Revlon, Max Factor, Maybelline
You wear more make up than any girl I’ve even seen
It’s not that you looked bad before but I know what make up is for
You’re a lot like Tammy Fay
You cake up, the make up, everyday
You use a putty knife to fill those pores
You spend your time in front of drug stores
When you look in the mirror what do you see?
Does the mirror crack ‘cuz you am ugly?
Your face could gag a maggot
When I look you I think “fucking bag it, go home”
Revlon, Max Factor, Maybelline
You wear more make up than any girl I’ve even seen
It’s not that you looked bad before but I know what make up is for

GONE TO HELL
LYRICS: JIM JENKIN
MUSIC: JIM JENKIN and PAUL DiORIO
Watching porn in a sleazy hotel
My life has gone to hell
The world wouldn’t be this way
If I only had my say
The world wouldn’t be this way
Oh yeah, the world has gone to hell
The world has gone to hell
Everywhere there’s a sure sign tell
The world has gone to hell
Somewhere we slipped and fell
The world wouldn’t be this way
If I only had my say
The world wouldn’t be this way
Oh yeah, the world has gone to hell
The world wouldn’t be this way
If I only had my say
The world wouldn’t be this way
Oh yeah, the world has gone to hell
The world has gone to hell
Everywhere there is a funky smell
The world has gone to hell
Jezebel waiting for clientele
The world wouldn’t be this way
If I only had my say
The world wouldn’t be this way
Oh yeah, the world has gone to hell

GOLDENHAIR
WORDS AND MUSIC: JIM JENKIN
(Inspired by a poem by James Joyce)
Now the mood is set, the candle is lit
Gentle breeze whispers in
Flame dances with it
I close the book, I read no more
Watching the fire dance on the wall
Now the mood is set, the candle is lit
Gentle breeze whispers in
Flame dances with it
I close the book, I read no more
Watching the fire dance on the wall
Goldenhair, goldenhair
Pull the switch on my electric chair
I’m only happy to be sitting there
Goldenhair, goldenhair
I run with the dark horses
And play fetch with the underdogs
You know I’ll make it ‘cuz I’m clever enough to fake it
Oh yeah
In times of trouble I can heed the early warning
There’ll be no rain chilled, coffee spilled mornings
Now the mood is set, the candle is lit
Gentle breeze whispers in
Flame dances with it
I close the book, I read no more
Watching the fire dance on the wall
Now the mood is set, the candle is lit
Gentle breeze whispers in
Flame dances with it
I close the book, I read no more
Watching the fire dance on the wall

ENOUGH SAID: Written and Produced By Jim Jenkin
What do you want from me?
I’ll try my best to fill your fantasy
Tell me your secrets, tell me your lies
As we dance the dance called compromise
Tell me that you want me, tell me that you need me
Tell me that you don’t want me to leave
You want to take me home, so let’s go.
What do you want from me, when you don’t know me at all?
Tell me what do you want from me when I don’t know you at all?
What do you want from me, when you don’t know me at all?
You don’t know me at all
Lonely housewives numb their pain, hard working hubby working late again
She won’t spend another night alone.
Daytime talk fills her head with images of young men in her bed
If Oprah likes it, enough said… enough said
Why do we believe in them, when they don’t us at all?
Tell me why should we believe I them, when they don’t know us at all?
Why do we do believe in them when they don’t know at all?
They don’t know us at all
Tell me that you want me, tell me that you need me
Tell me that you don’t want me to leave
You want to take me home, so let’s go.
What do you want from me, when you don’t know me at all?
Tell me what do you want from me when I don’t know you at all?
What do you want from me, when you don’t know me at all?
You don’t know me at all
Psychic hotlines claim her life, the guy next door buys a Russian wife
It’s a wonder we can talk at all.
Cover girls and the games they play, lose 10 pounds 10 easy ways
If Oprah likes it, enough said ... enough said
Why do we believe in them, when they don’t us at all?
Tell me why should we believe I them, when they don’t know us at all?
Why do we do believe in them when they don’t know at all?
They don’t know us at all
They don’t know us at all
They don’t know us at all
They don’t know us at all
So why should we believe in them?
Why do we believe in them?
Why should we believe in them?
When they don’t know us at all
They don’t know us at all
They don’t know us at all
So why should we believe in them?

THOSE U.V.’S AREN’T TOO GROOVY
LYRICS: JIM JENKIN
MUSIC: JIM JENKIN and CHANNON REED
A MUCH BETTER ENCODE CAN BE FOUND HERE:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCQmyq9TTLE
Listen here check it out
Don’t raise your eyebrow in doubt
Look around, can you see the signs
Can you see the sun up high through the dirty skies
Smog in my eyes
It’s getting very hard to breathe anymore
The weatherman says I better stay indoors
Those U.V.’s aren’t too groovy
He said to me the other day
I can’t go outside and play
Poison drifts in from the highway
It’s getting very hard to breathe anymore
The weatherman says I better stay indoors
Those U.V.’s aren’t too groovy
You haven’t got the slightest clue do you?
Do you know, do you know, do you?
Our days are numbered, ozone’s through
Those U.V.’s aren’t too groovy
You can run but you can’t hide
The air epidemic spreads worldwide
I can’t spend another day inside
It’s getting very hard to breathe anymore
The weatherman says I better stay indoors
The atmosphere is not too clear
We’re poisoning each hemisphere
If people only knew about CO2
and all the damage it can do
It’s getting very hard to breathe anymore
The weatherman says I better stay indoors
Those U.V.’s aren’t too groovy
You haven’t got the slightest clue do you?
Do you know, do you know, do you?
Our days are numbered, ozone’s through

JUNKY PUS
LYRICS: JIM JENKIN and ANDY GAY
MUSIC: WHiTEBREAD
You’re one funky junky swimming in that pool of disease
I can’t get too close to you because I’m too afraid to breathe
Well there’s nothing left of you but just skin and bones
You don’t feed yourself you just feed your jones
Found your buddy blue and bloated, spike still in his arm
Face down in the pavement, he finally bought the farm
Manhole tracks up and down your arm
You’re looking kinda yellow, there’s no cause for alarm
Hoping for the day when your scars will heal
Hoping for the day when you have the strength to steal
